Overall the lock worked great. Excellent choice for those living in an apartment where you cannot change the actual lock itself. Easy to install and remove when necessary. Batteries do run out about every other month or so. Frequently loses Wifi connection even when close to the router.

Needed to add a smart lock. After reading many reviews online, decided to go with August. Cannot complain; ease of installation, ease of use, and competitive price.

Love the flexibility of this lock with the auto lock and Auto Unlock when you come back home. Ease of installation was also nice.

Just bought this and installed it in just a few minutes. The only issue I had was that it failed the first couple of calibrations, but then it finally worked. Pairing it up with Alexa was seamless, and the device works great! You can set it to alert you if the door is locked or unlocked, either manually or through the app. I love this product! I recommend taking the few extra minutes to drill a 5/8” hole in the door frame to install the door sensor, rather than to mount it externally. It took me 5 minutes. Highly recommend this!

Easy to install, August app is great, just make sure you’re router is around with 30 feet of the August WiFi Smart Lock!

Great item, nice that it's all in one. Every once in a while the apple home app "forgets" the status and it has to be "resync'd". This is an apple issue. I wish that it would lock automatically when phones are out of geofencing status. Right now it only unlocks with geofencing. Battery replacement can seem excessive, every 2-3 months. Though quality batteries can be sourced from amazon rather inexpensivly. Ultimatly the door left open status is the best.

Easy to install and use and good for apartments where you don't or can't change the actual lock. It is pretty pricey but it does the job. Only compliant for me is that there have been some issues with the auto unlock feature for me where I have to sometimes use the app the unlock. It does use C123 batteries

A substantial improvement from the Smart Lock Pro. This 4th Generation version of the August Smart Lock adds wifi capability, which is nice. However, the real reasons to upgrade are less apparent. It's SUBSTANTIALLY smaller than the Pro - like 45% smaller. It spins much more smoothly - and the internal plastic lock adapter has been entirely redesigned - now it's got 4 massive grip points, instead of the 2 little prongs on the Pro adapters. Note that it uses CR123 batteries, instead of the AAs used in the Pro.

Great and easy to install. Doesn't change the outside of your door which is good and you are keyless.

This lock helps me to confirm the door is locked without getting up. Im quite large and lazy.

Works very well. WiFi option is fantastic if you are out of range (which is common for me as I’m in a 4 story townhome). Bought during sale but would consider purchase at retail value. Facing an issue where HomeKit gets a no response from device occasionally; would give five stars otherwise.

Great lock and the August system works well with Home Kit if your hub is near by. Wish the battery lasted longer and was something more common. Suggest getting a pack of 4 rechargeable ones. Trade them out every month.

Works well and looks good! If you buy it to use with HomeKit, make sure you place HomeHub Mini close to this lock, as they use Bluetooth to keep lock connected all the time to HomeKit. Even though it’s WiFi capably it uses Bluetooth to connect with HomeHub to preserve energy as much as possible. Also there lot of feedback on internet that it’s hard to add it as accessory to HomeKit. That’s true , but just keep trying to reset it and add again and it will eventually connect with HomeKit

Great Lock however the CR123 batteries was a short coming as it needs replacement every month especially if you have alot of traffic in and out. I do recommend it for low traffic entry scenarios. It does pack many features and can stand with its competitors

I love being able to open my door for family even when I'm not home. Only bad thing is the batteries don't very long and with no warning one could be locked out of their home.

Great WiFi lock...battery life is substantial the only thing that I would wish was that the low battery warnings started at 10% rather than 25%....think about it if you throw away 4 batteries at 25% that’s a whole battery that you are throwing away. Very apartment friendly, my maintenance man saw it and thought that it was cool that it didn’t damage any of the existing lock to install.

We had the August Smart Lock version before this one but it sort of died on us so my husband bought this one. I love it. First of all, it's about 25% smaller than the previous version so it's a lot sleeker and nicer. It also revolves/turns a lot smoother. I love how the app lets you unlock/lock from anywhere in seconds, and can invite other trusted family/friends to the app.

The fact that this generation of August Smart Lock has a built-in WiFi feature allows me to forgo the use of an August Connect Bridge, which I needed for my previous gen smart lock. The lock was very easy to install, and came with even easier instructions, which made installation even faster and less painful. Works as intended, thank you August!

Works every time on auto lock and unlock. Easy to install.

I am disappointed but this lock won't consistently appear in my home system as connected in. I have done troubleshooting on it, seems that it is because I cannot set my MESH router to consistently serve it a certain frequency. I have the orbi mesh router system. That is what I found out only after I went to extra expense to change my lock to make this compatible. Also this lock only works with single cylinder locks-I had a double cylinder lock (key on both sides). Do your research before you buy this lock to make sure it will work with your current deadbolt and wifi system.
