Was looking for something that works with my existing key deadbolt and perfect solution. First set of battery ran out very quickly in few months, I hope it's one-off related to usage and not going to be the case all the time. One less star just due to that battery issue. Otherwise very nice and sleek smart lock.

We’ve only had the August lock for a short time, but it is working great. We switched from a Kevo lock because the Kevo lock wasn’t responding well, and our guest keys didn’t work consistently. The August lock is small and compact, is working well, and has built-in WiFi. The installation could not have been easier. The only cons I’ve seen so far with it is that sometimes the auto-unlock doesn’t happen before I get to the door. So I have to use the app to unlock the door. Additionally, I do miss the touch-to-open feature of the Kevo, which is not available on the August lock. But all-in-all, we’re much happier with the August lock than we were with the Kevo lock.

I decided to purchase the August smart lock because I live on the second floor of an apartment building. I don't park close to my entrance and the auto unlock feature is what I was looking for. Often my arms are full when I walk up the stairs only to have to set items down to use they key to unlock. The August lock seemed like a simple solution. However it connects to my wifi and starts the unlock sequence. It will not unlock until you are in bluetooth range. In my case it does not connect until I am in front of my door and waiting for it to unlock. I have found if I hold my phone up in the air on my way upstairs it will unlock before I reach the door. My phone is usually in my pocket and it rarely picks it up until I am in front of my door resulting in me waiting at least 30 seconds to unlock. In that time I could have used my key and opened the door much faster. I have to walk around a wall that the stairs are against before I go up them. I am sure if you are in a house or a 1st floor apartment this would work as expected. I like the auto lock feature and the ability to unlock and lock remotely. However the auto unlock feature in my case is poor at best.

Love it is perfect if you need that someone look something for you and doesn’t have a key or if you left the keys somewhere

I have had this about a month now. Super easy to install and set up. I like that is uses your existing deadbolt and you can use your original key in case of emergency or WiFi outage. Auto Unlock and auto lock work as they should. Be careful if you have an iPhone as it will ask you if you want to change the location setting from always to when using. If you change to when using you won’t be able to use connect to the lock properly. Overall it’s a great purchase. I love that it unlocks as I’m walking up to my door as my hands are usually full, makes it easy to juggle my kids stuff and/or groceries.

The lock works well, though it is hit and miss. Sometimes the auto-unlock works like a charm and sometimes I unlock the door, enter my home and lock the door and THEN August auto-unlocks. At just 6 weeks, the batteries had to be replaced, which is far less time than the 3-6 months indicated on the August website.

Just installed. Installation was quick and easy. Only needed a phillips head screwdriver. Was installed in about 15 minutes. The app walks you through the installation and network setup. Looking forward to using the auto unlock functionality with geofencing. I don't have any experience with the prior generations, other than the in-store demo units, however I always thought they were a bit too large. This one has a smaller profile that I prefer. Highly recommended Smart Lock.

This lock is great! I thought id go with a different brand, but the internet convinced me the August locks were the way to go! Super easy setup!

Works great, Locks and unlocks with an app on your smart phone. Battery needed to be replaced after 6 months and didn't really use it that much.

Easy install and set up...although the instructions regarding the plastic inserts could be a little be a little better. Battery life could be better as well...and they are lithium batteries, not run of the mill alkaline.

First time buying an August doorlock and very satisfied. August shrunk it down added wifi so no need for a hub. Also connects with Bluetooth. It is easy to install and instructions are simple to follow. Auto door lock and unlock works well or use the existing key to the deadbolt. I paired it with a kwikset smartlock incase those who use keys lose it i can re key the deadbolt. But I have not tried to re key while the August is on.

Let me just start by saying this model has significant improvements over the older v2 model. Ot is smaller which i like and i find it to be extremely accurate with the door sensor knowing when my door is shut or open. I never have to worry about locking my door anymore since i have the peace of mind knowing the august smart lock will always lock it behind me. By far the best and most secure feeling smart lock i have tried. Definitely reccomend!

Not sure if they all do this or just the newer version with the built in bridge that doesn't need another part. But I get notifications that the lock is offline. Not sure maybe it is my internet. We love the ability to open and lock our door from our phone. Very convenient.

I love this wifi door lock. Our garage door broke and I forgot that I don't carry a house key. Well, I immediately ordered this from Best Buy so I wouldn't have that issue again. It was easy to install and setup and now I can control my lock with my Apple Watch. It's connected to my Apple Home Kit and so now I get notifications when it's unlocked or locked. The batteries only last a couple months, but they are easy to change.

Works great so far, automatically locks and unlocks. Had some issues getting the Apple HomeKit integration to setup had to do it multiple times for it to finally work. The device seems to lose signal to the WiFi network at times even though it has a strong signal.
