    When it works, it is great

    This is my second August lock after the first one died after about 3 years. This one only lasted a year or two before it would no longer unlock the door. Their support was responsive but not very helpful because it was out of warranty. I love the auto unlock feature when I get home and love the auto-lock feature on a timer - this way the door is always locked. ALEXA integration is excellent. I am trying to convince my wife to let me buy another one, but she is reluctant because this one did not last very long.

    Overpriced, lags and keypad is inadequate

    The August lock works ok and there are features I like. My biggest complaint is the keypad which is undersized, overpriced and has the quality of a $3 electronics item from Aliexpress. My second complaint is how slow the lock responds sometimes. Also if you mistype your code (which is easy to do on the tiny keypad), you have to wait 10-20 seconds before you can retype it.

    DON'T BUY THIS EXPENSIVE GARBAGE!!! YOU'LL SPEND A FORTUNE IN LOCKSMITHS TO LET YOU IN! In two years I've had to buy TWO new $99 keypads because the quality is so flimsy, spent about $175 on batteries and collectively 25/30 hours talking with customers service. I don't know why August brand keypads are so expensive when they make a better quality keypad for schlage that sells for half. The lock itself struggles to connect to the app, and takes up to 5 minutes to connect-if at all. Look elsewhere!

    This is the worst smart lock ive owned. On paper i was very excited about this lock with the auto lock and unlock feature. In reality the lock doesnt do what its supposed to do. You have to change batteries every 2 weeks because the lock will stop working. These batteries arent cheap either. I now use rechargeable batteries and the battery life is even lower. Lock disconnects from wifi frequently despite being in close proximity to the router. August support is less than helpful. I would not recommend this lock even to my own worst enemey.

    We are huge fans of the August system and use it in both our home and our lake place. It’s easy to install and very reliable. Each person selects their own entry code (so it’s something memorable for them). Also works great to remotely unlock for service people or VRBO guests!

    DO NOT BUY, unless you want to be locked out

    I went on a walk around my neighborhood and locked my house. When I came back, I could not unlock the door with the keypad, Bluetooth, or wifi. Mind you, I had just locked this door 10 minutes prior using the one touch. As a result I had to pay for a locksmith $407 out of pocket. When I reached out to customer service about the issue they refused to reimburse me, and said my lock (bought October ‘21) was out warranty and they won’t even replace the lock. They didn’t destroy my front door August deadbolt, I had the locksmith destroy the one on my garage door. I even sent them videos of how the lock was acting up afterwards and they still refuse. Honestly, for peace of mind and to make sure your family isn’t locked out in the cold DO NOT BUY THIS LOCK.

    Bluetooth first now motor

    I am now on my 2nd august lock in 4 years. The first one lasted about 3 yers then thr Bluetooth went out. Now avout a tear in and the motor acting crazy. Going to go with a yale lock see if that one last more than 3 years..

    Installation a little tricky & found out it eats batteries. Then slightly more than a year old & Bluetooth quicks working. Call August & no help.

    These are junk! people rating 5 stars are in for a rude awaking. This lock will last 1.5 years at best! How convienent August only offers a 1 year warranty. That should have been the first red flag. They cant even stand behind their product! Its not a matter of if it breaks, its WHEN! And trust me, it will be at the most Inconvenient time! Dont waste your money on something August wont stand behind.

    I wouldn't waste your money. Their website is horrible to reset your password. I can't reset my password so I am going to buy something else. All it will say is "Error updating password". O.k. Give me an option to get it updated. I tried on my phone and in a browser.
