Decent hardware is where it ends
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out of the box, the AVerMedia Live Streamer Duo is very impressive. Nestled within a foam rubber series of supports is an unobtrusive microphone/webcam combination and the streaming “box” itself. There are quick-start instructions for both items, which, in this day and age, actually make sense. I had everything unboxed and plugged in after only a few moments. The caveat to this is that I had to find my own HDMI cable to run from the box to the console, but the cable from the box to the laptop was supplied. This is where the good features end. Going off of the information contained within the quick start guides, I downloaded the recommended streaming application, the RECentral4 app, supposedly to start my streaming journey. This should have been the first indication of the quality of the product. Installation of the app requires installation of the Microsoft DirectX application, something I hadn’t seen since Windows Vista. The screens that took me through the DirectX installation appeared as if they had been copied and pasted directly out of 1998, not what I would have expected for something boasting a high-quality streaming service. Once installed, I launched the app. Or, I thought I did. Nothing happened. I tried launching the app again, only to be told, and I quote, “RECentral4 is already exist”. Great. After consulting the instructions, I A) learned that the streaming process was already in motion; and B) this is a Taiwanese product, only providing a U.S. address for licensing and importation purposes. I went through the usual steps to uninstall the program, only to be told multiple times that the uninstallation process could not be completed due to the program being open. Where it was open, I couldn’t say. Task Manager showed me, however, that it was eating up over 50% of my memory, and CPU usage was significantly increased as well. Deleting the program took editing the registry, downloading the latest version of my antivirus software, a reboot, and over an hour of my time. I never even saw the dashboard, but it assured me it was up and running. To this end I learned that if someone wants to have his own streaming channel, he needs to have a fresh computer with a LOT of memory. The streaming box requires detaching wires from the back of whatever console you’re using, so the computer and console must be within close proximity of each other, and you have to be comfortable with cables being detached and reattached as each streaming session starts and ends. I’m sure people with more time and knowledge than I have their own setups, but for me this is ridiculous. The hardware supplied is good, but for the love of all that is holy, don’t use the recommended service. Who knows what personal information is being transmitted if you can’t see the dashboard? Color me not impressed at all, would not recommend.

Great for beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This bundle is great if you’re just getting into streaming. The camera has good quality especially if you’ve never had one before. The software is easy to use and setup. The mic has decent quality as well. If you have experience in streaming I wouldn’t recommend but if you’re looking to get into it for the price you can’t go wrong here.

Great Hardware Marred By Horrific Software
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a bundle of hardware and software to get you up-and-running with live streaming. There are two pieces of hardware: AVerMedia's Live Streamer (web)CAM 313 their AVerMedia Live Gamer MINI. They are designed to work with AVerMedia's RECentral streaming/recording software. The USB camera has a maximal resolution of 1920x1080 with a maximal frame rate of 30 fps. There is a sliding cover for the lens of the camera that allows you to easily block video capture. And the camera has bilateral microphones but the audio capture is monophonic. The camera mount is well designed to clip atop your monitor or laptop (to face you) but is also equipped with a tripod mount to broaden the assumed targets of capture. A side note about the microphone(s) with the camera is that the AVerMedia's web page tied to this camera has an introductory picture of a man who is live streaming with the camera - but he, very conspicuously, is using a separate microphone system! Not a good look. I found the included microphone(s) to be fine, but not excellent - but how ridiculous is it for the manufacturer to imagine something better in their own advertisement? Another thing that I disliked immediately is that AVerMedia requires you to install a universal installation application to begin to identify and install the two specific components included in this kit. Their website is flashy and beautiful, but is confusing and difficult to navigate. This isn't an initial release for these components or for the software - so there is no excuse for having such a disastrous web presence. The camera has amazing capture on its own when using non-AVerMedia software - great low-light capture and excellent white balance - good detail and rich colors. Capture in the AVerMedia application is poor (at best) - and the application is difficult to use and wholly unsatisfying. The AVerMedia application is a disaster. The external capture card works extremely well (but I believe that some of that is tied to my high-powered laptop) - AVerMedia's software loves the Live Gamer MINI over the actual external live capturing device it was bundled with. I am always dumbfounded when companies bundle devices that function so differently with software. There are a lot of reviews of this bundle that herald it as a magnificent introduction to streaming - I think it is a nice combination of hardware that is destroyed by unforgivably bad software. I think this, as a bundle, serves to discourage any love of streaming more than it could ever encourage it.

Great bundle for beginners
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The AVerMedia - Live Streamer DUO Webcam Bundle is a great little bundle for beginners who are interested in streaming and/or recording their gaming sessions. It comes with both the AVerMedia Live Streamer CAM 313 (PW313) webcam and AVerMedia Live Gamer MINI (GC311). Setting everything up is straightforward as it is all pretty much plug and play. RECentral streaming software can be downloaded and installed from the AVerMedia website and I highly recommend this if you are just starting out. Both devices connect via USB 2.0 and all applicable USB cables are included in the package. The cable for the webcam is built-in and a separate detachable USB cable is included for use with the Live Gamer MINI. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the detachable cable for the Live Gamer MINI is actually a very nice nylon-braided cable so it should last a very long time. As noted in the product’s description, this bundle allows you to record your content at a max resolution of 1080p. If you need or want to record in 4k from an Xbox One X, this bundle is not for you but given this is clearly designed to be a beginner’s bundle, I have no problem with being limited to 1080p. Overall, the AVerMedia - Live Streamer DUO Webcam Bundle is a great bundle for beginners and I highly recommend it!

Great Streaming Bundle!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you are new alike me to Youtube and you desire to create top-notch cutting-edge videos, then this media bundle can meet and exceed your needs in performance and expectations. The webcam, which is standard 1080p is awesome as picture clarity is clear and concise. The MIC produces clear and concise audio as well. I plan to continue to do some live streaming, as such this MIC will help to deliver powerful clear audio. Needless to say, if you are a new Youtuber or just a person who desires to do live-streaming, then this bundle will not disappoint in performance and pricing!

Good hardware, average software
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is an entry level streaming kit. There is a webcam, microphone and mini capture card. Both the camera and capture card support 1080p i.e. they are FHD. The camera is really good. It's mount holds its position on my desktop's monitor. There is a privacy slider to cover the camera lens. Please note that cover does not stop recording of the audio. There are 3 ports on the capture card, 2 HDMI and 1 Micro USB. Please note that it captures max 1080p at 60fps. The mic picks up my voice easily and is a good integrated mic. I installed the Avermedia RECentral software that is included with the bundle. It recognized the connected hardware but I was not able to stream. I will probably need more time to figure out the issue with the stream as I am new to streaming as well. But in the mean time, I am able to use the Webcam to video chat with my friends :) At this point, I am not sure if the problem is with the included software or I am doing something wrong. But I would expect a product to be intuitive and the software and hardware to work out of the box. Thus, I am giving this bundle an average rating. The camera, mic and capture card itself I think are worth the money. If you have other streaming software than you can probably have a better use of them.

Gamers Will Love
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Combo Pack is a streamers and content creators dream! AVerMedia brings two high quality items to the table for content creators. It was simple enough to install and hook up my Xbox to the hardware while using the included programs to stream to Mixer and Twitch. I had no dropped frames or any weird glitches during my testing and 3 hr stream. The High quailty capturing of the 1080p content made for a better viewer experience without taxing my computer system. The Camera was really good as well, It captured amazing detail and allowed for a nice picture on stream.

Great option
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been thinking about trying streaming for YouTube for awhile now so I was excited to try this out. Being a beginner I don’t have a reference point to compare it to but so far I’m really enjoying it. Was relatively simple to set up and install and the video quality absolutely meets and exceeds my rookie expectations. I’m sure there may be better options available but you won’t be disappointed with this. Definitely worth giving it a try.

Great starting kit for anyone wanting to stream
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great kit for anyone looking to get into live streaming or into recording their gameplay and uploading to their platform of choice. The 1080p camera allows you to record yourself and your reactions and have that footage synced up with your gameplay. The RECentral software that is provided on AVerMedia's website allows you to record/stream your game footage from the Live Gamer MINI along with your camera footage and your selected microphone. The only issue I have is with the RECentral software as it only seems to be able to take the 2 video input sources whereas other capture software allows you to input multiple sources of multiple types. With that being said you are able to use this hardware with your software of choice on your computer. The RECentral software seems fine if you are just recording the game footage and the camera, but if you would like to get more in-depth I would suggest another software choice. ** Note to Mac Users ** According to the pamphlet, the RECentral software is PC only, however, it seems that AVerMedia has come out with a Mac application version of RECentral that has the same functionality allowing Mac users to have the same functionality as the PC application. Software aside, the hardware works amazingly and does what it says, it allows you to record gameplay without bogging down your recording computer. This makes it possible to record/stream regardless of how old/new your computer is allowing more people to get into streaming/recording.

Perfect for my needs!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVerMedia Live Streamer Duo for me will be used for YouTube, I must admit I am new to streaming. So my learning curve may be completely different than for others. Let me first say it has been much easier then I thought, and I am very happy it is plug and play. It's real and have tried some live streaming on YouTube and have been delighted. What has been good for me is this Duo has everything you need all in this one bundle. This Duo is really 2 devices that work together, including a Full HD capture box and a Full HD Web camera. I believe all I needed to due was a software update when I first set it up. I think the Quality of the Web camera is excellent, and it can be placed in many different ways, I simply attached mine to my 32-inch screen, everything fit perfect. As a professional photographer, I was worried about adequate light and the noise it could produce in a low light situation but have not had any problems with my set up. As I found out later, the Web camera is supported by lots of other great software. I believe this Duo is perfect for people starting out in Streaming; for the more advanced folks, maybe this brand makes step-up products, but this is going to work great for my current needs.

Software needs lots of work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.AVerMedia has got to get it together with their software. I was expecting a much smoother installation process, but that was not the case when it came to the software install. There were so many different items to install, and they all had similar names, Somali went off of the date. Even after doing this, I continued to receive messages for software updates. When I tried to update the software, it took me to their website. I clicked on the link, but nothing came up. This makes the installation process really confusing and time consuming. The only other issue that I had, and others have as well, is with the HDCP. There are plenty of videos and helpful online guides to help guide you past this issue, so be ready for it. As for the video quality, it’s great. For anyone looking to get into live streaming and becoming a “youtuber” the Live Stream Duo is the one for you. After getting passed these obstacles, I was able to record and get things going. With all of the content you will be producing, I hope you have the space for it in your computer. The video quality is great, as well as the audio. The AVerMedia Live Streamer DUO is really a great way to get you up and going as a streamer. I give it two stars because the software part of the install is terrible and so confusing. Please work on that AVerMedia. Aside from this flaw, the camera and gamer mini is great.

Works great, flawless
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product was great to use, the longest part was having to disconnect the HDMI from the Xbox and TV. It plugged straight into my laptop and it was game on. The clarity and quality of video were astounding. The audio quality was great as well. You can either record your video or live stream it. Great product, the install was fairly quick and that's for someone with 10mbps internet.
