It took a couple of tries to identify my stereo manufacturer, even after following the instructions. However, the instructions gave fair warning that it sometimes misidentifies Kenwood receivers. After getting set up it works way better than no controls at all. Also, my local Best Buy matched a competitor's price. I'd much rather purchase locally at Best Buy than online
