Only con is that it didn't advance the genre much. Other than that is was serious fun to play.

One of the best games of 2011 at a bargain price

When Batman: Arkham City was released in late 2011, it took the gaming world by storm and offered up not only a fantastic sequel to 2009's breakout "Arkham Asylum", but one of the best games of the year. In May 2012, the Game Of The Year (GOTY) edition of Arkham City was released loaded with bonus content. With it being at such a great price now, there is no reason not to give it a try and see what all the hype is about. The gameplay is butter smooth, and racking up bone-breaking combos while playing as The Dark Knight is one of the highlights of the Arkham City experience. Furthermore, there is a massive open world to explore, complete with loads of fan service and surprises around every corner. A multitude of puzzles and unlocks scattered throughout the dystopian city give the game a healthy amount of replay value in lieu of an online multiplayer component. The story is very easy to follow, even for gamers who don't know much at all about Batman. However, there are plenty of little nods and winks that hardcore caped crusader fans will appreciate. Throughout the single player campaign you'll experience ups, downs, twists and turns which ultimately lead to a satisfying conclusion. Like its predecessor, the graphics, audio and overall presentation here are unmatched when it comes to superhero games. Aside from having a remarkable level of polish, Arkham City also has a very grimy, gritty feel that creates an ambiance that brings the environments to life. In an unfortunate era of quick movie tie-in cash grabs, it's hard to find a decent superhero game these days, let alone one that ranks as one of the best releases of this generation. However, Arkham City GOTY Edition was up to the challenge, and passed with high marks.

This game has a corrupted file and makes the game freeze. If you don't mind the game freezing every so often, then I would recommend this game since it still is fun to play.

Twice now the game has locked up and the only way to get it unlocked is to turn off the power in the back of my PS3. Any one else have this issue or have suggestions on how to stop it? I really don't want to have to delete my saved game data again

The Best BATMAN game to date

Batman Arkham City took everything Arkham Asylum did and made it bigger, badder, and so much more satisfying. This is not only one of the best games in this generation it is one of the best games ever. The combat got an upgrade with quick fire gadget shortcuts, Arkahm City is a HUGE interactive playground filled with tons to do. You just want to beat up some poor thugs go for it, want to glide over Arkham City till you're blue in the face? Go for it, want to find Riddler trophies? Go for it. Want to take on side missions? GO FOR IT!! This game has a lot to offer its just insane. Arkham City is a living breathing place. Different villains take control of a different part of the City and the game shows it well. The story, and voice acting is solid Starrring Kevin Conroy as everyone's favorite Batman, Mark Hamill as the always popular Joker, even guys like Nolan North(Penguin) and Troy Baker(Two-Face and Robin) lend their talents. The relay value is just so high on this game as well I suggest going through the main campaign, side quests, Riddler Trophies, Riddler Rooms, Catmwoman Missions, and Harley's Revenge before doing a new game plus. Cool thing also are the skins so just in case you're tired of regular Batman you can also pick other like Animated Series Batman, Batman Beyond, and more. The challenge maps are also fun and challenging as they rank you on how you do in whatever game Mode you selcted it's also a good way to practice as well. All in all this game does Great fan service to Batman fans like myself and is a great game for most gamers that aren't into Batan. Happy Gaming!

I'm a big Batman fan and this game was pure awesome. The map is way bigger than Arkham Asylum. Lots of content and lots of things to do in this game. You get to play as Robin in the challenge maps and it was really fun.

Picked this up on sale for the heck of it and ended up losing 2 weeks to the game. Gorgeous graphics and the story line is great. Fighting is a little tricky but once you get the hang of it not too bad. A little tedious though. GOTY is where it's at, I wouldn't recommend the standard version.

    Second Best Batman Game

Fantastic game, great story, combat is intuitive, but it is just a rehash of 2009's Arkham Asylum. I have to say though, I'd never buy the GoTY edition of this game solely because of the horrendous box art. Looks like a magazine cover at the checkout line of a grocery store. It's just missing a line about how eating a superfood will make your manhood bigger.

This is a great game for any action/adventure players out there. The fact that you play as Batman and are surrounded in the Gotham universe is even better. Do yourself a favor and play it.
