When Batman: Arkham Asylum first released in 2009, it was a breath of fresh air. The superhero genre in gaming had been saturated with mediocre and unpolished titles that didn't take full advantage of their source material (not including the Spider-Man 2 movie game, of course). Rocksteady sought to change that with AA's innovative combat system, gripping story, gritty visuals and epic soundtrack. It was arguably the best adaptation of the Batman creative license since The Dark Knight. When Arkham City released in 2011, it expanded upon AA's gameplay by adding more depth to Freeflow/stealth combat, along with unique, playable characters, a larger city to explore and exciting boss battles. From a gameplay standpoint, it was a masterpiece. Story-wise, I felt that the game was convoluted and a bit messy. Overall, however, I still thought that it was a quality game and the ending was interesting. Arkham Origins was released in 2013, and was handled by a developer other than Rocksteady, so I won't comment on it. With that bit of background out of the way, enter Arkham Knight in 2015. Following up on the three previous entries, Rocksteady must have felt that the Arkham formula was getting old. To combat this, AK features the Batmobile, a highly anticipated feature that fans had been hounding for since Arkham City was announced. Unfortunately for me, I found these sections of the game to be excruciatingly tedious and frustrating, with the Batmobile controlling like a wet bar of soap. It doesn't help that you'll spend a great deal of the game driving around in the Batmobile and engaging in uninspired tank combat. Believe me when I say that the game tries to find every excuse to shoehorn the Batmobile into its gameplay, no matter how unnecessary or forced it may feel. Remember when Batman could easily bring down weakened walls with his Batclaw in previous entries? Well, I guess he must be suffering from amnesia this time because apparently only the Batmobile can do the job. After all, who wants to "Be the Batman" when you can "Be the Batmobile," right? As for stealth gameplay, it becomes laughably sparse and dumbed-down with the new Fear Multi-Takedown feature. Whereas you would have to usually pick off enemies individually or think outside the box to take multiple enemies down in previous entries, you can now take down up to five enemies with a few button presses and analog stick pushes. Even with new enemy types like the medics, you can actually target them with the Fear Multi-Takedown, which makes stealth encounters a calm breeze rather than a tense challenge. In addition to all this, there are virtually no boss battles to be found this time around, which is also a letdown since Rocksteady has already proven that they know how to handle boss battles. So at this point, you would think that maybe they just focused all of their creative energy into crafting a remarkable story, riiiight? Wrong. Rocksteady repeatedly mentioned in interviews and trailers that the Arkham Knight would be an entirely new character made specifically for this series. They were partially correct, until you see AK without the mask. When this does occur, you don't even feel surprised because you could see who it was, coming from a mile away. The game hints at AK's identity multiple times from the very start, so much so that it just spoils the surprise when it comes to the reveal. In addition, many of the actions taken by certain characters seem very, well, out-of-character for them. I did enjoy the last hour or so of the game, where Rocksteady exhibits one of their infamous "breaking the fourth wall" antics. Also, the original ending is palatable compared to the other two that you unlock by completing side missions and such, despite not providing any closure. Overall, Arkham Knight is a massively disappointing conclusion to what could've been a fairly flawless trilogy by Rocksteady. While there are some cool moments, like a surprise guest throughout the story and the new Dual Play feature (seamlessly switching between Batman and another playable character), these don't even begin to make up for the rest of the faults that Rocksteady makes along this rather bumpy ride. 4/10.

It's amazing looking and the car is the best. I can't say it's the BEST game this year with so many other large immersive ones, but it's the best if you love to fight and be a detective without the full open world menu upon menu options that games like The Witcher, Xenoblade Chronicles X, or Meta Gear Solid 5 provide.

If you play the previous games, you have to get this to complete the trilogy. And this time you get to drive the bat mobile except some time the game does force it to much to use the car but over all it a fun game

Expecting you have played BAA and BAC, this game throws you into the middle of the action with familiar control movement. It is the definitive Batman game that all other superhero games should be measured against.

Once you get a hang of the new features (Batmobile), it's just like riding a bike. Rocksteady comes through once again with a polished Batman Arkham game the previous entry can't touch in terms of quality and fun.

Batman: Arkham Knight is a fun, dark adventure with many flaws. One of which is the boring city of Gotham. The overwhelming Riddler trophies are also kinda long in the tooth, but the story is still a fun romp. The villains on the other hand are treated as filler, and don't feel as important as the first two Arkham games.

Knowing this is the last one of the series I'm taking my time to complete the game. It's really difficult not to play all night long through the incredible never slowing down story. Get this game whoever you are.

I just started playing the game and already it has surpassed my expectations. The fact that you're able to drive around Gotham City in the batmobile is awesome instead of having to move from building to building.

Awesome game for the PS4! Graphics are on poin, and the game is definitely designed for fans of the Dark Knight lore. No regrets at all. The Batmobile is sick!!! One step closer to "GTA: Gotham"...maybe one day.

This game was a great ending to the Arkham Trilogy! Some people complained there was a lot of Batmobile action but I personally didn't mind it! The story was great and definitely kept me wanting to move forward.

Love, love, love the game. The graphics are great, and the game play is realistic. It is a game that you must pay attention to, since there are a ton of different control buttons to use. Yet overall great game.

Okay, the game overall is great. But honestly, all I can think about while playing is "look at the way my cape is wet when I'm flying around." Needless to say, the visuals are very impressive. If you're a glutton for pretty graphics, you'll probably want to at least give it a rental. Two enthusiastic thumbs up overall...

Maybe not quite as much content as Arkham City, heavy reliance on the batmobile, but overall a fantastic game, great story, great voice work, amazing visuals.

So far, the game has been a lot better. The fighting and gameplay are very similar to the previous ones, so you won't have to learn something new. First time players will be able to learn quick enough to enjoy themselves. Great story so far(about 10 hours in) and only a few annoyances. Very good game worth the purchase.

Batman Arkham Knight is a fantastic game. The storyline is immersive and the whole entire game runs very smoothly without any glitches or lag. The only sucky part of it is that there are too many riddler challenges scattered throughout the world and you need to solve all of them to unlock the secret ending in the game.

Having not been a fan of the Arkham series since being turned off by the AA demo, this game was a breath of fresh air. It's also a throwback to my childhood hearing Kevin Conroy's iconic performance as Batman.

The gameplay is awesome and the DLC is outstanding! By far my favorite in the franchise and I'm hopeful that this is not truly the end of the line for this developer and their partnership with the Dark Knight.
