It has been a few years since I wrote a review for a game, but I feel like this needs to be addressed for anyone considering Battlefield 2042. It is simply unacceptable to pay seventy dollars for this game in its current state. Lobbies rarely have 128 players and gameplay is severely dampened by glitches. Additionally, missing legacy aspects (such as a functioning scoreboard) make this feel like a blatant cash grab by EA. The response from the developers has also been VERY lackluster. Players will receive a functional scoreboard... in February. An unnecessary rework has been done to make an extremely ugly scoreboard when previous iterations had such clean scoreboards. VOIP was inexplicably missing at launch. I feel like I got burned by a company that I trusted and that is solely my fault. I just hope to help others avoid my mistake.

Sadly this game isnt good. Battleifeld 4 was 100 times better. There is very little maps, weapon customization is very disappointing only in game, no campaign, the destruction is very little, takes a while to load on PS5, operators are just not cool in anyway in the sense of fitting to the game theme, gameplay is below par with the exception of good graphic map elements here and there. Its like cyberpunk in the sense the first 20mins you get a next gen feel and then all of a sudden you realize the game isnt good and your sugar rush is over as its a piece of a full game (cyberpunk obviously lengh wise doesnt apply as clear winner but in quality and Battlefield in content wise being way below par). Summary: Skip it. Call of Duty Vanguard is my recommendation.

Performance and bugs are abysmal. They’ve made changes and updates but to release a full priced game thats so lackluster is insulting. Worst Battlefield I’ve played by far. Youll be bored within a couple hours.

Should be aware....not a stand alone game. Requires internet which is why i gave it a 4 out of 5

A friend recommended this game as it's easy to pick up and put down—not a ton of grind. Lots of fun with friends but enjoyable solo too.

Games looks amazing on ps5. Thanks Dice for making another great game. Hands down the best in series.

You cant even play the game unless you have playstation network online access which is $80 yearly. You need the subscription to play the game. Absolutly rediculous. Waste of money! Why even have a disk version of a game if its useless? There should be a warning on the package BEFORE you open it. Now i cant even return the game since i dont have psn.

Game is sorta glitchy, but nothing too bad that wont be patched soon.

This game doesn’t have any adaptive trigger feedback on the PS5. Why didn’t you guys add it? I think it’s funny we have to pay extra for the “next gen” consoles when PC’s pay the same price and can run it just as well. Oh and there’s no contextual lean or anything in game? Makes this feel so outdated. You guys need to add leaning from cover etc. The graphics don’t even look good. Lack of detail, bland textures, and everything looks flat. Is there no ray tracing? Once again, tell me what you put in the game that warrants an extra $10?!! The maps are too big; half the time I feel like I’m playing a running simulator. Oh and you only put 3 game modes in the game too. What a joke. Vanguard is way more polished than this, has next gen features, and a ton of game modes. I wish I could get my money back for this game because it is a total waste. It’s sad we waited 2 years for this to be let down.

With years of updates and patches this game could be OK. They seem to have rushed it’s released. I have had all BF games in the last, this is the worst one. This is also the worst shooter I have played. If you’re not in a rush to try it, wait a few years for the developers to figure out what the fan base wants.

It's fun for about a week. Poor game design. Broken Dev promises. Bugs a plenty (to be fair what BF on repease wasn't?). Game is dying fast. Especially hardzone and portal.

I've been playing the series since BFBC2 and this is the worst version I've played. It strays so far from what BF once was, that it should have another title. The game lacks a server browser, scoreboard, classes, weapon variety, VOIP, tactical cover and has balance issues. The maps are way too big and 128 players is too much. Running 400meters between objectives gets old after awhile.

I love this game is the best it’s a competition game

This game is just utter trash and fees like they took all the microtransaction elements from various games and tried to build a functioning game around that. This game completely lacks what made previous titles fun. If anything it made me really appreciate how great BF1 and BF4 were. No amount of bug fixes and patching can fix the underlying issue that this game was made with zero passion and more thought into extracting post purchase revenue from the players over making a fun game.

This game only have online multi player mode, no campaign, I buy battlefield for story mode.

Very smooth process and it got here on time as well.
