Regarding the range, you can adjust the router settings to optimize the wireless capability of your router. You can manually set WiFi Channels being used by your router for better range. Not much of an improvement so brought it back and bought the Netgear AC1600. Lot more expensive but havent doubted it one bit. But if youre using it as an extender it would work fine or if you are on old antiquated hardware for that matter.

It is blazing fast and the signal is reliable and does not drop. We have several devices using it with no apparent slowing. Im do recommend this router.

Great Entry to AC wireless
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upfront AC routers are expensive, and while that's okay because they're still new to the market it is smart to keep in mind your paying the price for a still premium product. That said this is on the lower end of that price field so that's the great thing about this router. Worth the money for someone who plays alot of games and streams alot of HD content. I'm also happy that it has a USB for networking harddrives or printers and has an easy browser based installation process - as an added bonus you can easily update your drivers also. I highly recommend it.
