I was wrong. The perfomance is ridiculously less than my older unit and I am considering returning it to hunt down or repair my prior unit.

It could be that the router's default settings did not sit well with your wireless environment. If you still have the router with you, we advise you to adjust the router's wireless settings. Use channel 6. 11. or 1 to improve the connection. Upgrade the router's firmware too. Here are some article links to guide you:

The Belkin router crashed and became incompatible with my cable modem about 60 days after purchase. Even after working with customer service, the problem remained. Bought a different brand to replace it and it works beautifully.
