We really do not care for this product. We bought the first one on the advice of the Best Buy employee because it did what we needed it to do, multiple computers and gaming simultaneously. After 3 weeks it stopped working and found out it had died. Best Buy replaced it but I do not think we will buy this brand again.

    Did not work.

The Belkin did not work out of the box. I then read so many bad reviews about that model on Google search. Should have done that before I bought it. Best Buy exchanged it for an Asus N900 router and it works great. The Asus was easy to set up and has great range. It even reaches my neighbor's house across the street with a workable signal. Best Buy has a great customer satisfaction service.

    It's great!... When it works.

If you plan on just buying this, plugging it in and forgetting about it the N600 is a great router. But if you plan to do anything to the settings be prepared to get frustrated very quickly. Adjusting the settings itself is easy enough, but every time you change something like DMZ or DNS you had better get up and be ready to unplug and plug the router after the device restarts itself and do the same for the modem so you can get your access back. It never fails to fail after changing the settings, so if you plan on interacting with this device actively keep this in mind.

Bought other routers that weren't strong enough to get an uninterrupted signal from one room to another (very frustrating); but this one does and it had a decent price tag and very easy to set up.

    Security nightmare

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

While boasting outstanding specs compared to other brands in this price range, the installation is a nightmare. While most brands provide a prompt at installation to change the factory preset SSID and passphrase, and in fact recommend the user change them for security purposes, the software on this does not. One has to dig into the owner's manual to find out how to do this. At each stage, the router disconnects from the internet after the changes are made. The only way to get the router functional again is to uninstall the software, then reinstall it using the new settings, Thus, for those wanting to maintain a high level of security on their wifi network [so Google street level view cam cars can't hack in], Belkin's so-called 3-step easy installation that takes 5 minutes is actually a 10-step nightmare that takes about 2 hours. I recommend anyone considering installing a new router pass on this brand and consider the others. They may cost more but what you save in aggrevation and time will be worth it.

    Good range and speed

I set this router up with the installation cd. The setup was fairly quick and easy. This is the second router I have had. I use it for one desktop,a 360, and a galaxy tablet. I had the router up and connected to the internet in about an hour. After setting up the security setting for a wpa key, I connected my tablet and found thay the router would lose the internet connection for three seconds every minute (I timed it). I use it in a about 1500 sq ft house. I called belkin and an agent told me to chamge the channel settings on the router, so I did but the problem wasent resolved. I tried moving the router far away from the computer, changing the protection settings, and I changed the bandwith operation. My tablet and xbox both still have frequent disconnections but the desktop doesn't.

I was very impressed, I read the reviews on this website and was sure that I might have problems as well. This item had above average reviews and was very expensive. (Not sure why some cost more than others.) My internet modem is internet and phone combo, so I thought I might have some complications and I did not. Overall, it's been great!

Port forwarding unusable: no DHCP reservation

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I read the product specifications carefully before buying: it did say it had port forwarding to specific local IP addresses. HOWEVER, there is no DHCP reservation (assign a fixed local IP address based on devices MAC address), so there is no way to forward to the *right* computer/device, unless you set up static IP address on every device. Which is not just a pain, but also impossible on many Droid/iPhone devices, especially when you move from one wifi network to another. I checked the Belkin support website -- this is a widespread complaint from people who discovered the feature missing. I will be returning the unit.

    Promises, promises

I work with technology for long time, and I consider myself a pretty advanced user for all kind of technologies, and one of my favorites is actually wireless. This is not the first time that I try to get out of Linksys by acquiring different routers from different brands, being very honest I felt on Belkin due to the price, and the promises which were coming together on the box diagrams. Sounded interesting and pretty atractive. So, I bought it and took home, put to work and so far so good, the basic was working pretty well. My first issue, I changed some configurations and by the time that I refreshed the DHCP my computer was gave a different IP address. So I tried to connect again the Settings for the router and for my surprise I received a message saying that a different IP address was already logged as administrator...reset button works pretty well. Other items that I tried to put to work ndso far a week later couldn't do it, the USB port neither a print or USB storage device were identified. Network coverage is the same as my Linksys WRT54GS from 4 years ago.
