Don't Do it

When it works this is a great router if you have a device that can use the dual bands.
However, the first router I had lasted 5 to 6 months before I got a solid violet light on the router that meant it was broken. I had to send the router back to Belkin (at my expense) for them to look at it. they sent a new (or could have been refurb) router to me pretty quick. But that one lasted almost a month before I got a blinking amber light. I followed their instruction to unplug and reset but tht didn't work. Now I have to send this one back (at my expense again). So I spent $70 on this router and $12 each time i have returned it. I want my money back but they will not do that. Next time this one fails it is getting runover by my truck and then sent back to Belkin.

I chose this as reviews were good, but also because I have had really good customer service whenever I called Belkin. I replaced an older Belkin with this. I knew that I would call them to help me install it and they walked me through everything. Buy this without worry.

The initial setup was easy but after two weeks the router failed and I had to reinstall the router software. Since then...no problems and it works great with multiple devices accessing it simultaneously.

Great speed, price, and easy to set up and use. Works really well with I-pad I-pod,cell phones, etc, anywhere in the house. Easy set up with disc, basic "plug and play". Cost a little more than the "basic" router but worth it for the extra speed. Perfect for streaming movies and anything that requires a little more speed.

I have paid $10 more about 3 years ago and gotten a much better router from Netgear. Unfortunately, after about 6 months we switched to another company for cable after moving and their router included wireless. By the time we moved again my husband had given the Netgear to his brother so we had to get this one or pay an extra $5 a month for a modem that had a router built in from the cable company. I really wish I still had the old one back. This one will just shut off out of nowhere causing you to have to reboot everything in order to get it going again. A real pain in the rear.

I live in a small space and I don't particularly need the most powerful router so I decided to go with this. It does well with streaming and downloads but the range is a bit weak.

DNS proxy does not work well

Bought this unit the other day and installed it. It was easy to install. They "make" you install software but you can access the router via web page. The problem is with the internal DNS server. It doesn't update all the time. When you try to access a known good web site, you get a server not found error, then if you try again later, it works. I returned this to Best Buy and bought the Netgear for $10 more. So far the Netgear is working fine.

Purchased the router and it was ok for the first week and then it started having spotty signal. Only way to get the signal to come back was to reboot it. My phone and computers were getting a more consistent signal from the xfinity wifi a 1/4 mile away. The "self heal" technology was interesting and ended up being it's only saving grace. You could set it to reboot periodically. I got a wifi signal app for my phone and surmised that there were quite a few wifi signals in my neighborhood, and the competing wifi traffic was eating this router for breakfast. Rebooting would find a channel with the least traffic. One day it would be on channel 1, the next day channel 3, the next day channel 6 or 11. I also employ an extender, which would simply repeat the signal to my back yard. I had a D-Link Router from the early 2000's that performed better and replaced it with this one. My "testing" period lasted more than 15 days, so I now cannot return it. I guess routers are like ketchup, don't buy cheap and expect it to taste good. Ended up purchasing a better brand name to place into the wifi combat zone.
