    Not so good...

The one good thing I can say about this router is it was very easy to setup. Aside from that I had nothing but problems with it. The main problem I had was I could not use WPA to secure my wireless for more than a few hours. I'd get everything connected and running, then the next day it would stop. I called Belkin and they had me switch to WEP to get it working. The problem is I didn't want WEP. I wanted WPA. I took the router back to the store, exchanged it and the same thing happened. It worked the first day, then would not connect the next when using WPA. I called Belkin and got the same response. I was told to just use WEP and not worry about it. I don't know why this router does not like WPA, but I'm taking it back. My last router was a single band Netgear that ran WPA just fine. I guess I'll have to shell out a few extra dollars for the dual band Netgear. Which is a shame because this router was so easy to setup and had a great price. I guess you get what you pay for.

I have had this model router for about 7 years now. it tells me to update the firmware but no matter how many times I have tried I get a failure message. I contacted Belkin support & was pretty much told it was outdated & need to buy a new one.

    Not worth it

I made the mistake of thinking the reviews would be accurate for me. This router has good reviews here, but not everywhere else... do more research than just here! (BestBuy site may be bias since most probably purchased from BestBuy). I needed another router with a USB connection for an external hard drive. I ended up replacing my flaky Netgear router (WNDR3400) for this and now I know it was a mistake. Hard wire, and wireless, connections constantly lose connection, the speed (or lack there of) is sooooo slow. Beyond belief slow. I've wasted more time waiting for this to work in between tasks. I can't even get enough speed to use wireless 'b', so forget about 'g' and 'n'. I definitely need to trash this thing and get a real router that works.... something other than Belkin and Netgear (at least netgear was semi-working). This has been very frustrating and a waste of a lot of my time and money trying to get it working.

plug in power, modem, etc. then password, ready to go? not. should of known better, had same problem with friends computer when they bought Belkin router. now no internet access til isp opens tomorrow. if you're going to advertise how easy to be up and running, then you should back it up, not mislead.

    Stopped working after a month

We purchased this product to replace a less powerful router so we could connect our X-Box and Roku player. The set-up wasn't too bad, but I did need to call for assistance. The representative at Belkin was able to get me set up, however he was very difficult to understand, due to his heavy accent. Once it was set up, everything connected smoothly, and all seemed to be working well, until a few days ago, when the blue light on the front went out, and it just stopped working. I called Belkin again, and the woman went through a bunch of steps with me. She seemed to grow impatient when I asked her to repeat a few things because I couldn't understand her, and even when I kept telling her nothing different was happening, she insisted I repeat the same step over and over. I finally just gave up, and will be (hopefully) exchanging the router, probably for a different brand...

I have had this router for several months and it has proved to work really well. I am able to get a good signal throughout the three levels of my home and it connects without any problems.

    Bewildered

The installation couldn't have been easier, just plug in the SSID on the card that is provided. afterwards you can change it very easily by logging into your router. Since i've had it I have to admit no issues trying to connect. I give it an average performance. The QOS or Intellistream option was upsetting and confusing. The router offers an option to test your internet speed, and that option does not work. I've tried multiple times, but moved on. I input what I thought was my internet speed, and for some reason my speed kept getting slower and slower. After hours of troubleshooting I decided to turn this feature off because the performance without it being on was faster and more reliable. Along with the sub par customer service, wish I would have done more research. I don't know if the dual band (5.0 GHz & 2.4 GHz) works.

The wireless router was easy to install, easy to reconfigure to replace my outgoing Wireless G network, and it solved an network incompatibility problem with a new laptop I purchased.

Our Netgear only lasted a year. Belkin's customer service dept. was far more superior to Netgear as well. If this one last at least two years, we'll be more than happy.

    Never Again

I bought a Belkin router a few years ago and it lasted me 2+ years. I then bought another one (N600 model) on 7-31-15. Died on me last night. So this one only lasted me for just under a year. I must add that it is only for my home laptop/personal use. No games or anything else. Extremely frustrating. Worse case is that I did not know that Best Buy does not honor the Belkin warranty. So your choice is to either buy the Best Buy warranty so it is covered or send it back to Belkin and live without a router for however long it takes to get one back. Bad unit, bad policy. Buy something else and learn from my mistake. Suck it up and buy the BB warranty.

      Hi, a2rhino,

This is clearly not the experience we wanted you to have from our product. If there are still LED lights lit on your router, we can try checking if it's good for a reconfiguration. Also, we can try pinging the router's IP address to verify if it's still responding.

Please reach out to us so we can tap our escalation engineers to conduct the workarounds prior to deeming your device defective. Send us an email at [email protected] along with your contact information, the review title and the link to this post for reference.

      We'll wait for your email.

This router is pretty good, except that the USB attached to the router often does not show up on our computers. My wife and I save a spreadsheet containing account balances and such so that we both have access to it, but it doesn't always appear on "my computer."
