    Don't Buy This!

I'm on wireless router number 4 over the years, being a previous owner of Netgear, Linksys, Dlink and now Belkin. Less than 24 hours after acquiring the Belkin N600 've already decided to return it and buying a Dlink!. The N600 can't connect to one of my PCs (which has previously been connected to a Dlink) and there is very little debug available on it(no link lights even). Also by default it creates separate subnets for wired vs Wifi devices and they can't talk to each other. Thus, that shared network printer is only accessible by a some devices. There doesn't seem to be a way to change the WiFi IP address pool. And unlike other routers ,you need a CD to get access to the admin web site on it. Wireless routers should be painless but this one isn't!!!!!!

This router works wonderfully. The setup was quick and the directions were easy to follow. It connects quickly to the Internet with a stable connection.

Software not for Mac OS X Lion

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The short story is that it does work, if you configure it old-school. Use the router's IP address from the .pdf manual, and you can set it up (hopefully you know what you're doing!) The setup software on the CD was strange, so I complained to Belkin tech support & got the usual copied/pasted responses. Kept at it & finally was told that the software was not compatible with Mac OS X Lion. Funny, because my issue was that the setup app launched my browser and took me to www.router.com!! (Don't go there...) So, I'm not using any of the featured apps, wireless printing, media sharing, etc. Strictly as a wireless router, it does seem to work OK. Not worth the extra $ though, especially for Mac users.

Glad I bought it. Best value for the money. A bit of a challenge to get all my computers up and running; however, I am not very tech savy either.

Good router except it keeps breaking

I do have to say this is a good router except for the fact that this has broken several times on me. I luckily bought the extended warranty. If you buy this, buy the warranty.

    Early death

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This is my second of these routers. While they are super easy to set up, they don't seem to be very well made. My first one died after less than a month. The only plus with it giving out less than a month after purchase was that I still had my receipt and Best Buy exchanged it with no problems. I'm hoping this one lasts. It's the last Belkin product I will ever purchase.

      Hi, azkandi,

Thanks for sharing your experience. The Belkin F9K1102 router has an Operating Temperature of 0~ 40C (32 ~ 104 F), Storing: -20 ~ 65 C (-13 ~ 155 F). If it exceeds to that, let us know so we can have it checked by our Escalation Engineers for investigation.

In the interim, we recommend relocating the router in an open and well-ventilated area to avoid possible overheating. This will also help in boosting the wireless signal of your router.

Should you have queries, or should you need assistance, reach out to us via email at [email protected], anytime.

We'd be glad to assist you.

      Regards,

    Unreliable

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I would recommend using this router without the included software. It will turn off your Laptops internal wireless antenna. Was great when it worked. I had alot of connection issues and several calls into Belkin. Problem would be resolved, then reoccure. Could not connect to my new LT at the 5ghz. Had to settle for the 2.4Ghz connection. I returned this router and purchased another brand. Have been very satisfied with the new "other brand" router. It was worth spending the additional $30.00. Belkin needs to re-think there product!

Pretty easy to set up, looked good, and good performance while it lasted. 3 weeks in had a slight power outage (like 3 sec) it never came back on line. Called Belkin support, guy was honest enough to tell be to take it back, so I did and got a Netgear N300, with 20$ refund . At least it had the decency to die within the 30 day return period

    Horrible!!!

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Horrible router. Other than it was easy to setup, everything else about it sucks. Range is horrible(2.4G was ok at best, 5G horrible and almost non existent) and kept dropping signal. My laptop was only 20 ft away from the router, and barely got a 5G signal and not a full 2.4G signal. PS3 could not even see router at about 40-50 ft.

    A Major Letdown!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I expected to be WOWED by this router but instead it has been a massive letdown. I have a relatively small house - only 1300 square feet - and this router barely covers the entire house. Using my tablet or phone in rooms just 25-30 feet away is a challenge for this router. My phone usually disconnects from it because the signal is so weak. For the price, I expected something better and much more reliable. This is not worth the price. Go with a different product.

      Hi Moondoggie,

Thank you for sharing us your experience with your Belkin N600 Wireless Router. To avoid this from happening again, we'd suggest doing the following:

*Place the router in the central part of your house.
*Change the wireless channel on your router to avoid interference. Recommended channels to use are 1, 6, 9 and 11 since they are considered non-overlapping channels.
      *Upgrade or re-flash the firmware.

If the connection would not improve, we'd appreciate if you send us an email at [email protected] including your contact details, location, and the link to this review so that we can have someone from the Team assist you.

    Disappointing

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've been a Belkin fan for many years, but recently product quality is really going down. Previous versions of the Belkin N600DB have worked pretty well, and I've installed a lot of them, but this version 3 is buggy. The auto setup couldn't detect the cable modem. No biggie so I configured it manually, but that was just the beginning of the problems. The router disconnects from the modem frequently and does not reconnect. The interface doesn't always save changed settings, (Self Healing to get around the disconnections would not save when set) and the router often reports that it can't find the modem even when the connection is up. The new user interface is very slow and so dumbed down it's hard to find anything! The old interface was so much better. This has now become a poor quality router, with a silly interface, and there are far better choices.

    UNEXPECTED

When I first bought this I thought this was going to work out great. I have internet service with Charter and this router keeps disconnecting. Always looking for signal. I guess this wireless router and the providing internet company's device just isn't compatible. I have to reset it every couple of hours so that it finds the IP address again. On a new search to look for a NETGEAR brand instead.

      Hi, LOVEBUG,

Your N600 Dual-band router should be compatible with your ISP's modem and should provide you a stable connection. As what you've described, it seems that your router's firmware needs an update. We would love to get you over to one of our Escalation Engineers for a resolution. Please email us at [email protected] with your contact information and the link to this review for reference.

Great when it works but returned twice

I had to return this product twice because the device stopped working entirely after 2 weeks. The same problem each time. The router worked great when it would power up but after two weeks it would stop powering up. I ultimately returned this product and when with a netgear router.
