This switch works great when im not homeim able to turn on the light for security

We have a tall stand lamp that my wheelchair bound husband would have to pull over to operate, drove me crazy! So when I learned that Alexa could operate the lamp for us I had to find out how. That's when I learned about WIFI plugs. Did a little research and found that the WEMO was compatible with Alexa, drove 130 miles to our nearest Best Buy and found that the WEMO I wanted was on sale. Unfortunately there was a big hole where the WEMO used to be, sold out. Best Buy had one sent to my home address with no shipping charges. Had a bit of trouble finding the correct WEMO app to run the thing but after emailing WEMO they sent me a link to the correct app. Installed it, named the lamp and it has worked perfectly since. Can move it from outlet to outlet with no trouble. No more pulling the lamp over, just talk to Alexa. It's great.

I bought this to use as a indicator light for my garage door. When my garage door opens and closes I have it notify me with an email. I setup IFTTT to look for those emails. an open email, turns this switch on (and attached red LED night light). when a closed email is received, it turns the light off. Now, when I go to bed, if the light is on, I forgot to close the garage door. The WEMO switches are relatively easy to configure. You can set lights/fans, etc anything you can plug into a standard outlet on a time schedule or based on sunrise or sunset. We will also use the WEMO switches to control our Christmas Tree lights. I started with 2 and our collection has quickly grown to include a light switch for our outside lights, 3 lamps downstairs, the garage indicator light, 2 for fans in the kids' bedrooms, the list keeps growing.

First I need to say that my experience is with using a Google Nexus phone running Android 6 to perform the setup. I have 3 WEMO devices and control them with my Amazon Echo. They work very well using 'Alexa' for voice control. The Amazon Echo also discovered them on the network with out any problems once each device was updated to the latest firmware. The real issue with the WEMO devices is configuring them on your network and then performing the required firmware update. The WEMO's automatic wireless network configuration combined with my phone's cell service caused significant issues due to the WEMO app getting confused about the correct network. My recommendation when setting up a WEMO, if your are using an Android device, is to disable your cell service or use a tablet device. Plus make very sure that your WEMO device is updated to firmware before attempting to use it with an Amazon Echo.

Works great. Easy set up with the app and works great with Amazon Alexa. I bought a bunch of them to control my lamps. They can be used alone with the app or be controlled by Alexa. The timer feature is nice especially when you are away.

This product works great. Lot's of possibilities for use. I would recommend.

My only complaint is its size. you can only fit one on a normal sized outlet. If thats not an issue, you're fine. It works with the Amazon Echo right out of the box and the setup was pretty easy.

I use this to control lights when I'm away from home for 3 months in the winter. It knows when sunset is and I programmed it to turn the house lights on 15 min. before sunset and turn them off at 11:30 PM. This is much superior to a typical mechanical timer in that it maintains the correct time even after a power outage. I can monitor the status of the switch from anywhere through my iPhone. It's comforting to confirm that the switch is operating properly when I'm away for so long. An extra bonus is that it works flawlessly with Alexa (Amazon echo) so that when I'm home, l can control the light by voice command. The switch is extremely easy to set up and to establish programs for how you want the switch to function. Although I use it only for lights, it can be used to control almost any electrical appliance.

I have loved using this switch, I plan on buying more! Easy and convenient.

Bought this for a lamp to use with the Echo (Alexa). Works great. No issues. Nice to be able to set the light to come on and off at certain times, or with the alarm clock, or on voice command.

Controlled light from phone while on vacation. More than one way to control

It works well with my android phone. I can control it remotely as intended!

The device works as advertised. But a big PART of the device operation is the app / software. It is a wee bit lacking. This would EASILY be a 5-star device if Belkin would spend some time on simplifying the app and making setup a bit easier.

I've been very happy with this product. I am using it to remotely control a lamp. This product was easy to set up and easy to use. So far it has been reliable. For someone who is using this for lighting they may want to consider the Belkin lightbulbs as there is probably a little more versatility. Of course this switch can be used for many things other than lamps.

I love how I can turn on and off my lights from anywhere in the world

The wemo is a great automation solution. It works even better and almost justifies the hefty price tag if you use it with ifttt. Why couldn't Belkin just build features like this into the app. It would have made more sense to have this device be able to use geolocation and scheduled actions all built right in. Instead you have to depend on ifttt app to trigger actions and tell a server somewhere to send a signal to your wemo through your home network. This can take anywhere from seconds to minutes sometimes. And it really sucks when it has a glitch or something and doesn't send the signal at all. Otherwise the idea works and it's a great use for the device. I just wish it worked right out the app like it should.

The WeMo device works great for me. It was easy to link into my wifi network, easy to program, and rock solid reliable. I have other wifi linked gadgets that occasionally drop out - but the WeMo has never failed. It just works.
