verify type of switch first
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product as a gift for my parents. It would allow them to turn on their heated mattress cover using their cell phone while they were out (or at my house); so, when they arrived home, they would have a warm bed to crawl into. Well, the switch on their mattress pad is a push button that doesn't remain in the on position - meaning, this product doesn't work for them. I brought back to my house to try on our mattress pad which has an on switch - it worked. The hardest part was trying to figure out how to get it to forget my parents' connection information. Belkin didn't offer any directions on this (not using my parents' connection), it was trial and error on my part. Now, I have a warm bed and have to get them a different gift. I thought this would be great to start my crock-pot; unfortunately, it has the same type of push button on switch as my parents' mattress pad. Definitely determine what type of appliance you will be using this for and find out if the switch will stay in the on position.

WeMo
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is great for automatically and remotely turning on/off lights etc. in your home. The Belkin Switch is easy to install and setting up an on / off time schedule is a breeze. You can also turn lights on or off from your cell phone while miles away. Love it !!!

Belkin-Wemo- Thank You!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product.! It took 3mins to read and install and it's been working out great! Went out of town and was able to turn on and off the switch using my phone. I will be purchasing 1-2 more for other rooms.

Meets the Need
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Out house can get pretty dark due to being in the woods. Wanted a way to turn on a few lamps remotely, so if we got back after dark, we could have a few lights on. Once setup - which is the challenge - using these switches has been a great solution. Especially like the ability to specify turning on automatically a set number of minutes before sunset. The issue is the setup. Expect to need some time and to have to try multiple times - may be even a few resets along the way. The steps are easy and straightforward, but getting them to complete easily the first time? Not very likely ... Nonetheless, once done, worth it.

Simple & Reliable
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pro: Works reliably. Carries high enough amperage for most uses. Simple & quick to set up & use. Con: I have slowest speed DSL - WeMo app does not always recognize me; I think the app expects a faster response from the WiFi.

Actually great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just a tad bit on the medium level for setup ease. You have to be able to follow directions and know a bit about how devices communicate. Don't get me wrong personally, I feel it wasn't that bad but I can tell you it's not just plug it in and go. It has worked every single time I want to manually switch it on and off and also the set up rules for scheduling times works perfect so far. This goes for if I'm on my home networks, or on cell phone service remotely accessing it. I truly wanted to believe all the reviews every one keeps writing about having problems but it's been over a month now and I haven't had any of those issues. I certainly have recommended this to others and I show it off when ever I can. I may purchase other products some day. I picked this up as an impulse because I had extra bb points to use. I'm glad I did.

Works great
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Item works great. Setup was a little more complicated than documentation lead me to expect. Firmware updates and wifi connection required a number of resets, but once all that was done, it was great. My BestBuy store associate didn't know much about the product. Couldn't explain the difference between this model and a more expensive one (reading the package clued me in that this one allows control of a lamp or other appliance, while the more expensive version tracks how much electricity is being consumed). Recommend the item and will likely buy more of them.

Does what it is supposed to do.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This does what it is supposed to do. The setup is easy, the app is a bit slow so just have patience and let it do its thing. I hope in newer iterations they make it a bit less bulky.

Posted .Hi, Parcho,
Thank you for rating and leaving a review about this product. We're glad that the switch is now up and running but we also noticed you've mentioned some challenges with the app. You can check if it's on the latest version and if you have another iOS or Android device, use it to test if the app does the same. It may also help if you'll reboot your phone.
For further assistance, you can email us at [email protected] and indicate your full name, phone number, location, and the link to this post. We'd be happy to help.

Convenient Product

Quick Setup
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great item, although the newer slimmer version of this works much better if you intend to use both wall plugs. Easy to setup within the app, and linked this to Amazon Echo for voice control. Works like a charm! I would recommend the purchase of the newer mini model over this simply due to the smaller size. The not recommended to a friend post is only due to this larger model, not the product line.

Great product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The WeMo WiFi products are very reliable. One thing I really like about the WeMo Switch is that its prescheduled or programmed events continue to function during modem/router or WiFi interruptions and downtimes.

WeMo Switch is not quite as good as the insight
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this switch and it works fine but if you can spend 10 more bucks the insight switch is a bit smaller and has more functionality. It does work great though.

Alexa, turn off the light!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Yup I use it with my Amazon Echo speaker. I have my lamp plugged into it. Easy to connect and interact with. It has it's own app where you can manage multiple hubs. With this, you can turn on or off the connected the device from anywhere. The only catch is that it doesn't work with smart power devices like game consoles. I wanted to use it to turn on my PS3 remotely but it only switches between power to the brick and no power to the brick. It's a simple on/off switch.

Nice Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife has some physical issues, so we were looking for a way for her to be able to turn off the living room light when she came to bed. We tried a clapper, which worked okay, but was susceptible to other noises and if she forgot to turn the light off, someone had to go back to the living room. The WeMo left all of that behind. The setup was fairly easy, and the wifi works well. The only issue is that when we changed our web modem, it was a little tricky getting the switch reconnected; we ended up having to delete and re-install the Android software. Other than that, it's been great.

Easy Entry to Smart Home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an easy entry to a smart home. The setup and app are easy to perform and the device will handle up to 1500 watts. This allows you to connect space heaters and even manual AC's. It will not control electronically switched devices. Another con is that only one per outlet is possible due to the physical shape. It is also able to be controlled by Alexa.

Smart and simple
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was looking for a smart electrical outlet to connect to my Google Home for my Christmas tree but didn't really feel like dropping over $100 on Samsung's Smart Things kit so I went with this entry level one by Belkin. My use was pretty basic, turn on my Christmas tree using voice command or at certain times during the day. Setup was simple, just plug it into an outlet (not a strip) then connect it to your WiFi network using the Wemo app. Once you're connected you can turn on/off any device plugged into it using your phone. Since Google Home didn't support Wemo, I had to use IFTTT to be able to control the switch using voice commands. I was successful in doing so but found for my purpose of just turning the tree lights on and off it wasn't necessary so I used the app and set the switch to turn on at sunset and turn off at sunrise. Now you might be wondering why not just buy a timer. Well I'm ultimately going to make my home a smart one so this is a future investment. At around $30 it's not that much more than a digital timer plus you can control it using your phone. And once I find more uses for it then I'll be able to use it to its full potential. For now it did what I needed it to do...Light up my Christmas tree. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Works well but is huge.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Wemo switch was easy to set up. It works well. I haven't had any connection issues like others have experienced. It integrated with my Echo Dot with no issues. There are two things that I don't like about it: 1) The unit is HUGE! I can only plug it into the top outlet. If I want to plug it into the bottom outlet, the unit will cover the top outlet. You may ask: then why don't you just plug it into the top outlet? Well, on some of my outlets, the top outlet is controlled by a wall switch. I want to leave that free to control room lighting. Belkin's solution was to redesign the unit which makes it smaller and can be plugged into the bottom outlet without covering up the top outlet. I kind of wish I waited on purchasing four of the old units. 2) Issue 2 has to do with the Android app. It works well except when creating rules. For some reason, I can rename some of the rules, but not others. Weird. Even though I don't like how big the unit is, I will still recommend buying this if you aren't concerned about this issue.
