I've been using Wemo switches for a couple of years now. I've been trying to automate my house. I bought this to use in conjunction with my Amazon Echo (i have several around the house). The problem is, it works about 50% of the time. I find myself having an argument with Alexa for about five minutes every night trying to get her to shut off lights. This is clearly a problem with the API and/or the Wemo app itself. Most of the time the devices "are not responding." Often when I open the Wemo app it takes a long time for all of the devices to register. I recently bought several Philips Hue bulbs (also at Best Buy) and those work incredibly well. They always go on and off when asked. So now i'm considering taking out all of the Wemo switches and just putting Hue bulbs in all of the lamps in the house. A very expensive switch to say the least. (Pun intended)

We were looking for a way to turn on/off a few light in our house that are plugin without having to turn on/off a whole power strip. We had recently shorted out a strip doing just this. Wemo is awesome and easy to set up and use. We had two lights with Wemo set up and working in about 5 minutes. The app is free and easy to download and use. The ability to set timers, turn on and off whenever and wherever you have a wifi connection is very useful and easy. We plan to Wemo a few other things in our house soon.

Ironically, I had to buy this because my D-Link remote camera would crash every few weeks. It rebooted quickly if I unplugged it. Unfortunately, the location of the camera is a 2 1/2 hour drive away. Now I am able to quickly and remotely turn off the camera from home and allow it to reboot. Worked automatically on my wife's phone without any more set up as we already had 2 other Wemo light switches which work great.

We bought this because our Christmas tree is in a corner and the closest outlet is way back in the corner. Rather than crawling behind the tree each time we wanted to turn it on and off we bought this little beauty. The install was super easy and the wemo app works great on the iPhone 6. Now that the tree is gone we're fighting over which item in our home to control with this. I think more of them might be in order.

The switch works as designed and overall, the unit was pretty easy to setup. However, in terms of value and utility, I'm not sure it is worth it...it was a nice little toy to play with for a few days, but it wasn't enough to warrant keeping it... Maybe if you are totally crazy for home automation, but I didn't see enough from the switch to warrant keeping it over a simple mechanical $3 switch.

I started out with one of these a couple of years ago and now I have about 10 different WeMo products scattered about my home. They work exactly the way they are suppose to. I loose power at my house on a regular basis. We also travel a lot. My security system needs to have the power reset every now and then. I ran my whole system through this switch. The last time it need to be reset we were in Hawaii. I took out my smart phone and 5 seconds later it was reset. Great product.

I adore the Wemo line. Super easy set up and works like a charm! Even better when used with IFTTT. This is a no-brainer.

It was easy to set up and I was able to turn my lights on and off from another country. The timer was super handy!

The WeMo was easy to set up from my iPhone. I would highly recommend this product. You can control it from anywhere.

Remote control your outlet with no issues. Kinda bulky but I like how simple it is.

Firstly, this is a good switch to have as a home automation building block. Good for things like managing appliances, lighting and automating scenarios. 2 challenges I've seen are a) it is bulky (there's a smaller version though $10 more) b) remote management is not reliable. The switch often shows as not available when managing remotely. But, overall a good product IMO.

This is my third WeMo switch. I like that all the switches show up on the app and I have the ability to name each switch to what I want. The ability to control whatever I have connected to it anywhere in the world is amazing. Setup is a breeze and the app is very good.

After using the WeMo switch for some weeks now, it is very reliable. However, setting up the WeMo was very troublesome. The installation script indicated that entering my e-mail address was optional. IT IS NOT OPTIONAL. I would only recommend the product to friends that are network knowledgeable. Can be controlled via Amazon Echo, Apple and Android tablets.

I have a few of these around the house and they work quite well, not perfect. Pros: -Setup and updating firmware is easy. -Works flawlessly when online. Cons: - Why is this device so big? -The iDevice app has quirks requiring constant refreshing. -WiFi range is a little less that most devices in the same area.

Its easy to setup and to use, Good product, it does what it is supposed to do. GREAT!!!

Easy, convenient and fun to use. Setup was a breeze with the iOS app (free download from the App Store). App offers a scheduling tool that allows you to define exactly when you want your device to turn on/off based on time, day or even sunrise/sunset.

Unit works well, simple set up, works great with IFTTT. Minus one star because unit is so large it takes 2 or 3 slots on power strip... clearly made with top plug of a standard outlet as its intended location

When I first purchased this item it worked perfectly fine. But as of recently, I can't turn on/off my lights remotely via the app. I might need to reset the switch - that's kind of frustrating. At least the timer still works. I like the idea of controlling your lights from anywhere and setting up various timers - it's so convenient!

I purchased product to turn lights on and off from my phone or tablet but then I started using the product as a timer and as a variable timer when away. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to set up. I can turn lights on anywhere there is WiFi. I liked it so much I bought a second one for the second story of the house. I see lots of other potential uses for this in the future.

This is a very straight forward wifi based switch that requires no hub to function. Setup is easy: Power it up, it becomes its own access point. Connect your tablet (any OS) to the access point and start the free wemo app. The app configures the device for your home's wifi, the device restarts, your phone connects back to standard wifi and you're done. And there is very good control flexibility. Turn it on and off through the app, turn it on and off through Amazon Alexa, or even turn it on and off, blink, toggle through IFTTT (which then opens the door to infinite possibilites) My single complaint is the size. It's big. But it's so easy to use, it's easy to overlook the size issue.
