Total Tech membership is no longer worth the $$!

Let me start by saying Total Tech membership used to be the best service contract in the market. Now the only reason I remain a total tech member is the onsite support and repairs for my laptops. Even with that it is barely worth the $200 yearly cost, because all other support is managed by very substandard offshore call centers that are staffed by low level, non-technical people that only read standardized manuals for solutions, which based on my experiences, solve NOTHING! Then you have to pay for level 2 support. Its like double taxation. What a RIPOFF! I am now looking other options, and guess what...they are out there!

I used to get geek squad and I loved it. You paid According to what you bought I certain amount and you had a certain many year You could go on return your product. That's total tech it is a rip off!! I bought it With two computers and a whole bunch of other technology stuff. I was informed that it was a two year Hundred and seventy nine dollars up You can do a yearly subscription. I want to get some help with my product. Expiration date so I had eight more monthey said talk to total tech. Total tech said oh no it's it's only one year with a yearly subscription. I said that's not what is informed to me but in any way you all had my credit card on file. Products that I would want to be covered because I have kids and I always get the extended warranty. They informed me that a month prior which is not true, I would send a picture but allow pictures on this. I did have somebody try to fraudulently. Use my credit card so I got a new card. They didn't inform me that they couldn't use a different card. They didn't call me and asked me if I wanted to use a different card. They just completely canceled my total tech. I asked Is this movement they said no, you are supposed to be called and Asked for another credit card, I said that didn't happen. They said ohh. Well, I said you can't help me. This is like now. Is there anything else I could do for you? I said well, since you don't care that you're losing customers, I guess not. She said not at all goodbye. I was pleasant the whole time even though I was highly frustrated and she basically said my business wasn't worth her time to work with people like that. Good luck For you, I will go to Amazon. Get a 4 year warranty for way less and they appreciate my business

    Disappointed

I was a member of the total tech program for about 2 to 3 years. I appreciate the fact that I would get free installation and the geek squad answering my questions. We spent close to $100,000 while we were members. This year they've changed the program and I am very disappointed that they removed the free installation of the products that you purchase there. I feel they could have based free installation on the price of the product. For example, if you bought a sound system or a 100-in TV that certainly would qualify you for free installation, We rarely used the Geek Squad for on-site repairs, we mostly appreciate the membership for the free installation of the numerous products that we bought there. We are no longer members of the Best Buy tech program.

    Not Worth It

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I've had a subscription for nearly four and a half years, and my total savings for the life of my membership is only a little over $200. The program used to be OK, but the changes they made this last year substantially reduce the value. I can handle most of my technology myself, so I rarely need to schedule a tech to help me at home. In fact, I've only done it once. Now I'm having a small issue that would probably take an on-site tech only a few minutes, and I must pay ahead to make an appointment. Then it will be up to two weeks before someone can come, and if I can get it figured out before a tech comes and need to cancel the appointment, I am told I will not get a refund. Since I'm spending much more money to keep my subscription active than I'm saving, it is worthless to me and will be cancelling my subscription as soon as I am through here.

    Total Tech Hidden Fees

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Let me say that I’ve purchased almost all of my electronic products from Best Buy. Total Tech was sold to me as an opportunity to get installations and repairs done for free. So I purchased a membership a few years ago. When I called today about a TV that’s not working and getting it serviced, I could not make the appointment w/o a $99 service fee. And it’s not like I’m gonna get service any time this week. It’ll be next Tuesday before anyone even comes out to my house. So not only am I paying $200 a year for Total Tech but my $99 is now paying their Geek Squad’s salary. I’ve used Total Tech only once before. So this service call is costing me $300 so far. A total ripoff. Time for a cancellation!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused by the fail

I have been attempting to have my microwave door repaired since August 9, 2023, but as of October 9, 2023, the problem remains unresolved. The main reason for this issue is a lack of communication and failure to document the initial diagnostic report conducted by Best Buy. So, after almost 2 months, I escalated the issue to the call center supervisor. Unfortunately, the supervisor was not very helpful and mentioned that they don't record previous work orders. All the supervisor did was schedule another appointment. I am extremely disappointed as my previous experiences with Best Buy have always been great. Let's see if they can fix the microwave now, as I have a toddler and an infant at home. It's difficult to function without a working microwave.

    Lack of Service

On Tuesday 1/30/23 scheduled tv wall mount for Thursday 2/2/23. It was immediately confirmed. Window for tech was noon to 8 pm. Took afternoon off from work. Got several confirmations of noon to 8. Around 2pm noticed the confirmation was for MONDAY 2/6/23. No call or email notifying me of the change. Called total tech and requested a supervisor. Was told supervisor was “extremely busy” and would be a while. I continued to request a supervisor. Finally after 15 to 20 minutes, supervisor came on to tell me sorry, but he could do nothing . My only option was to take the 2/6 appointment, which would have meant taking more time off work! Told him to cancel the appointment and will not be renewing Total Tech Support. The support is there when convenient for them. Found local business that came and mounted the TV for less than the total tech discount charge. Really disappointed in how Best Buy has declined.

Not Worth The Money At All

Horrendous waste of money. Had the Best Buy Total membership for my new 75" Q80B QLED tv and it was covered under the extended warranty plan. TV is 1 1/2 years old. Remote is malfunctioning and I called for support. I was told I would have to pay for someone to look at it because the remote "is not part of the TV" and not covered. They will nickel and dime you to death, and pull the rug out from under you when you need them. Save your money. Just like every other extended warranty scam.

Bear in mind this service is not for labor for everything like it was before. it is now only 3 p c's and discounts on other type if labor. They will talk to you about other type of support over phone or in store if you can actually get ahold of someone.

    Why drop home service?

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I enjoy this membership a lot except for one thing it unfortunately got rid of free home services when you have extended warranties of appliances and tv. It used to be they would come for free if you had an extended warranty in addition to the protection plan but not now as they will charge you between 50 to 100 dollars depending on your item for them to come look at it. That is because if you have an extended warranty home services is usually included especially for appliances. Best buy should bring that back because I bet I am not the only one having a problem with this.

I have purchased some many devices $1600 TV, RING CAMS,DOOR LOCKS ETC. BUT somehow the technician didn't show up on schedule and asking me reschedule AGAIN which I have to wait for another 2 weeks time window ! I was so excited about my first house and best buy made my day miserable! What's the point for purchasing total tech member if I will face things many drama???!! I called multiple times to customer service and explained and none of them has a proper solution. I was a big fan of best buy but not anymore!

Don't see the value in keeping this membership after I used it to get delivery and setup of dishwasher. The benefits are not great for everyday, once a month, use. I don't recommend keeping this membership.

    Buyer beware

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I will likely be canceling this as it is not as good as advertised. I purchased two MacBooks and an iPhone, and I was told afterwards when doing something with the computers (because Best Buy's credit card through Citi is just impossible to deal with) what a great deal TotalTech was and how I could get it to have the included AppleCare+ on all those devices. So, after being convinced, I purchased TotalTech and canceled the AppleCare+ I had purchased separately through Apple on the devices. Now I'm being told that the TotalTech protection benefits of AppleCare+ DO NOT APPLY to those purchases because I didn't have TotalTech when I made the purchase, even though I bought it shortly afterwards based on the sales pitches of how it would help me with said purchases. I was hesitant to get TotalTech instead of just getting AppleCare+ for this very reason - I trust AppleCare+ and, justifiably, do not trust Best Buy's plans. The website and chats even describe that coverage applies to prior products and even products purchased outside of Best Buy, but that is obviously not the case (or at least is misleading in what is covered). Now trying to find more information, of course, the terms and conditions explain that you get AppleCare+ on "eligible purchases," but good luck figuring out what's "eligible." I'm told now to "exchange and re-purchase" the same computers and phone (even though they only have a 15-day window to return the phone, so I can't actually do that), which I already know from experience is next to impossible for them to do without a huge ordeal, because Best Buy computer systems don't allow a return/re-purchase of an Apple item that's already connected to your Apple ID. Considering the time wasted already, I'm much closer to just going back to only getting AppleCare+ and dealing with Apple (which has been a much, much easier experience - Best Buy's automated phone system is infuriating).

Wish I could give less than one star. First of all, the agents are incredibly rude and sarcastic and just horrible to you. They treat you horribly the second of all. When you sign up for the service they tell you everything is installed for free. Well that's not true. Don't waste your money

Poor total tech customer service or support

All total tech customer support on phone and chat are not based in US. I've had three appointments cancelled without my knowledge due to person making appointment not finishing the order. I have had a no show for an appointment with no phone call or email. Unable to speak to a supervisor.

    If you can your benefits.

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The total tech program is great if the people answering the phone would allow you to use it. Even store managers can’t get those people to lift a finger. They have messed up my total tech membership so badly that not even store managers could get answers out of them. Apparently the people Best Buy have running that department don’t need to do their jobs because they will tell you themselves, they have no supervision and can handle thing any way they see fit. Translation: I don’t have to help you with anything and I can be as rude and Insubordinate to my position because there isn’t anyone that’s going to do a thing about it. Makes getting your member benefits pretty difficult. Makes the store managers look stupid. Makes Best Buy look ridiculous. How embarrassing. Worst part, they speak to senior citizens who really need help with these things in such a rude and disrespectful manner because they struggle with technology. No patience. No understanding. How disgusting. And yet Best Buy does nothing. They just allow it.

Have Total Tech, Sony TV I purchased 14 months ago goes bad…. Power supply most likely….. first available appointment 8 days from now. Unreasonable amount of time. Get it together Geek Squad. I am very unhappy with that wait time for them to just come look at it and then will be more wait to replace.
