It does stand out from the wall, but that is disclosed on the box and was to be expected. If you want a mount that brings your tv closer to the wall I would select a different mount.

Great execution from a bad design

The swing out function actually makes it hard to get it directly centered. It's strong and relatively inexpensive so I'll say it's okay
