You do need to bolt it to the studs in the wall which is fine because the full motion- up and down and side to side allows you to center it as you need to. It can also tilt forward and backwards!

Owned for 6 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have this mount holding up my 65 in vizio, tv weights about 60 lbs and Ive never mounted a tv before but it was extremely simple and could have done it alone but I did have help as I expected it to be a lot harder. Range of motion is great and it allows my tv to go from virtually flat against the wall to right in my face. Only complaint is my tv slowly over time lowers the angle and tightening it is kind if a pain. Nothing too noticable but for the price it is definitely worth it.
