Total Tech Membership

I enjoy the unlimited Geek Squad assistance. Had it not been for the Geek Squad I would still be trying to set-up my new lap top so it would be usable. Every issue I had I called on the Geek Squad for help. I was not able to load or find HP Smart that needs to be linked to my printer. The tech knew what I was talking about, found the HP Smart info in the system, ran the process to attach it to my lap top and added this interface to my desktop. Another tech was able to attach Gmail under Google to my laptop which I was not able to find. Each technician was thoughtful, courteous, patient and ensured they had addressed my issues prior to disconnecting from my lap top and closing their case. I also need to learn the different features under Windows 11.

Great as it lasted

So far i didn't need it so far, but it's always a good investment, you never know what could happen and best buy's warranties have solved some issues in the past when i needed. UPDATE: Sadly nowadays the attendant didn't offer me the membership because it's not offered anymore. Such i shame when i didn't keep it. It was awesome to add new buys on it.

Verify, verify, verify - take nothing at face valu

I purchased online a 75" LED TV from the Brentwood store as well as their $200 Total Protection program (using their Total Protection program the delivery and mounting/installation was $200, plus you also get 1 year of the Total Protection program - it's a better deal than the $249 mounting/installation). The 3 star review is for the following, mostly scheduling related: 1.) When purchasing the TV and Total Protection (delivery and mounting). The webpage appointment portal is confusing. It did not properly schedule delivery & mounting. When the TV was delivered they told me that installation had not been scheduled. It took a call to sort that out and they did so in a nice way, waiving any additional cost, but adding another delay in getting the TV, mounted and up and running. Make sure you take nothing at face value with their online service, call & verify you got what you expected. 2.) The mounting/installation was scheduled for 4 business days after delivery, due to the screw up stated above. I was given a window of 9 am - 1 pm for the Geek Squad to arrive. They had not shown up as of 1 pm, I called Best Buy customer service and asked them to contact the technician. The technician called me and stated that I was on "his" board for the afternoon, not morning. I was duped again! They were all nice about it but my time was again wasted. Again, I should have called to verify everything and not trusted their website and arrival window notification. Make sure you take nothing at face value with their online service, call & verify you got what you expected. MORAL OF THE STORY - do not trust Best Buy's online version OR arrival window notifications. Call & verify if your time is valuable to you.

It paid off!

We added Total Tech when we purchased a new dishwasher. It meant we could get the installation for free essentially and have the benefits of Total Tech for the next year. Best Buy stopped selling physical media, so the free shipping benefit was negated after some months of signing up, but it paid off when we had a problem with our old refrigerator, which we did not purchase under the program, nor did we purchase it at Best Buy. Still, we were able to file a service ticket and the tech was local and amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant to have in our home. He took care of the issue and we were thrilled. We did not need a new refrigerator and it cost us nothing out of pocket for the service under Total Tech. Now, I do recommend it, but I see Best Buy changed what is covered once again. I wish they would keep a good thing going. It's difficult to recommend something or even keep your membership with it when you have to always review what has changed, espeically when it's more likely that you lose benefits over time rather than gain some nowadays. Oh, well.

I've used the membership for delivery and installation of appliances, tech support, and extended warranties. One of the best things about the membership is that it covers the cost of delivery and installation of appliances. This is a huge time and hassle saver, especially if you're not comfortable installing appliances yourself. I recently had a new refrigerator delivered and installed, and the Geek Squad technicians were professional and efficient. I've also used the membership for tech support a few times. The Geek Squad technicians have been very helpful and knowledgeable, and they've been able to solve my problems quickly and easily. The membership also includes extended warranties on eligible products. This has saved me a lot of money on repairs. For example, my laptop recently broke down, and the Geek Squad technicians were able to repair it under the extended warranty. This would have cost me a lot of money if I didn't have the membership. Overall, I'm very happy with the Best Buy Totaltech Yearly Membership. It's a great way to save money on delivery, installation, tech support, and extended warranties. Nice idea... Bad implementation.

Reason one: I used this on a Dyson humidifier I purchased in store because when I got the item home it was clear this was an opened item that had been returned (water spots every where, packaging not clean or put together properly, etc.) and found that out that it made a squealing noise when I turned it on the first time. IMO any upstanding company would not require a membership to switch out a product in this case. The next time I attempted to use it, I had owned a vacuum for just under two years when the brush stopped rotating. I loved the vacuum and just wanted to fix the head attachment. Best buy no longer carried that model and would only give me a store credit for the replacement offer. The kicker is if they would never just helped me replace the head attachment to the vacuum it would have only cost $140. Instead, I had hauled a vacuum, the tower, and all of the accessories into the store as I was told only to be told my only option was to replace the vacuum with one in store that was comparable (not possible- nothing they had remotely resembled the unit I was bringing in) or receive a store credit and leave without the vacuum I was trying to fix. To me, this seems like a poor financial choice and left me feeling taken advantage of and immensely disappointed.
