Could Be Better

Having a deductible-based replacement is a fine alternative, but this is usually going to overlap with a one-year warranty for most electronics, meaning it's most a "drop protection" warranty you're getting with devices. Expect to use your device's main warranty or pay a deductible most times. The ability to buy hard-to-find options is terrible business for people, trying to get them into a $200/year plan to buy something they want. I would reserve buying this plan for people who (like me) buy a lot of devices for themselves and others at BB. Getting a phone, TV, and a couple of laptops (personal/gifts) makes it worth it, but doing it for a device or two is poor value.

I see no real benefit to having it. Most of the benefits used to be basic customer service stuff. Hiding sales behind a paywall is scummy.

Wackesss membership ever in life

I pay a membership but if I want something installed from Bestbuy I must pay 150.00 on top of my membership. Truthfully a big money waster. Very sad product to offer. There’s nothing great about a membership where I pay more on top of it.

I was advised by the geek squad that it might be my hard drive that I would be charged for running a diagnostic plus charged for what ever it was diagnosed with. Then he told me about the total tech membership. It was a no brained to purchase it my pc was covered under it and it was fixed works like new. Plus everything else that I have bought I have for the coverage for as well (like my AirPods, Apple care was included because of total tech membership) I highly recommend.

However, I don't think it is worth the renewal at $179/yr. That amount is almost more than the savings I gained from having the membership discount. I think it is too much to charge.

They did an initial setup of the new MacBook Pro while I waited, which was very nice. I did stop back with a question about starting with Apple IMovie and the tech had no interest in trying to help me with it. I haven’t had it long enough to evaluate any of the other features of the membership.

Complete waste of money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchases the Total Tech membership back in April so I have had it for a good 6-7 months now. I was sold on the idea that it would come with technical support, discounts, free installations. So far the service has been abysmal to say the least. The first "free installation" came with the Range that I purchased in April. The 3rd party person who came in could not get a flare nut loose from the gas plumbing and told me that this is not his job and I need to hire a plumber. I paid a plumber 100$ to come all the way out and he just pulled gently on the nut with a wrench to make it loose. He said that anyone should have been able to do this and this is not something that required to hire a plumber. So the first free install came with a 100$ service THAT I NEVER GOT REIMBURSED FOR Fast forward to this month I asked best buy to install a Ring Doorbell. Once again they send a third party person to my house. This third party was 1 star reviewed on google, dozens of horrible reviews. The guy says that he is only here to connect the wires and actually installing the doorbell will require drilling a hole in the stucco that is going to be extra and not included in the install so I have to call best buy. I mean seriously? Did I just pay Best Buy 129$ to connect 2 wires together (that I am perfectly capable of doing). I cancelled that appointment, asked for a refund, call around the neighborhood handyman and local home services to get a quote. Every one gave me a quote less than 129$ for the service and these were decent 4+ star reviewed companies. In short I cancelled my total tech membership because it is absolutely useless. Why would I PREPAY 200$ to best buy then pay again for services that are at overly inflated prices? I would rather keep my money and then just pay local handymen/repair companies as needed. Please stay away from this scam of a service! The only way I could see this making sense is if you buy a new home and have several appliances that need installation. At that point the 200 may make sense but I'd still be skeptical. You could probably shop around and get free services from other retail/local stores selling appliances. Also, If you do end up buying from best buy, they will source out the install to the worst reviewed local companies (1 star in my case) and then if something goes wrong you may end up paying hundreds/thousands in repair costs (leaky dishwasher, etc) Stay away!

Total Tech Membership for the Win!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve enjoyed the deals and services included with this program, especially the savings I’ve made on servicing and repairing multiple old computers. The default cost of diagnostics for all my tech would have cost more than the membership. I love the complimentary product protection plans included. The only downside of this is that I’d lose remaining protection time if I cancelled my membership. Since I plan on having my tech checked regularly, I don’t see why I’d cancel. I’m also excited to utilize the free shipping that’s included as well.

Must have!

However, I love the wonder member perks like extended return policy, special sales and deals, and it covers any electronics I purchase AFTER buying the membership. Also, my parents get to use my membership for their things as well. They got free shipping, installation, and removal of their old appliances. The whole family is saving money. So it was well worth the price.

Worth much more!

Since November 2021 I have used it about 6 times for a real wide variety of problems, got great service and was explained things to me in plain English. A Geek came in my place to install a new computer system this year, spent 3 hours doing all I needed (including file transfers from one of my older computers). The service I got over the past 8 months would have cost me at least 3 times the cost of Geek membership, and i know things are done right and I will not be stuck. Thanks Geeks!

Membership useless and a waste of money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This membership is a lie. I purchased it to get the 2 year warranty on our microwave that was promised. When I did not renew the membership, my warranty was also cancelled, which was never explained. So basically I wasted $200 because it’s not covering our piece of junk microwave that has now broken after a year and a half. I will no longer be buying any home appliances from Best Buy. It’s a total scam.

Not exactly what you think so do research 1st!

For example, a TV I want to buy has a 5 year service warranty for $399. If you do the math, the total care is far more expensive for far less time!!

Protect Your Tech
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am happy that Best Buy rolled out this Totaltech program because purchasing "insurance" on each individual device becomes cumbersome. Now with Best Buy totaltech, each qualifying purchase I make with my membership is automatically protected for up to 2 years. I love how this is automated. I also love how this includes discounts on qualifying purchases as well as free installations on products such as wall mounted TV's and washing machines. What are you waiting for? If you're like me and make lots of purchases from Best Buy, Totaltech is a no brainer.

Back and Forth

Taking them back and tgen having to have them replace has been a real big hassle. When I get to Best Buy, i'm normally a bit upset, however by the time I deal wihh the Geek Squad or Customer Service personal , they understand my frustration and I leave feeling SOMEONE ACTUALLY CARES.

Our membership paid off

We had purchased a new 65 inch TV that we were very pleased with! The first few days was wonderful but then it would automatically com on by it’s self, this went on for a few days and Best Buy sent 3 people out to fix but fix did not work so they set up a time to deliver a new TV to replace the other one. We are so happy with The Best Buy membership!! I would recommend the membership to everyone!

Great purchase for me

Recently had to replace laptop and getting the totaltech was significantly cheaper than standard 2 year plan. Plus the return policy is great considering I tend to buy something then it goes on sale the next week.

Worth it for frequent shoppers

If you're like me and you spend several thousand dollars a year at Best Buy, then this is a no brainer. One thing I love about Best Buy is they price match, so I buy ALL my electronics at Best Buy. If something is on sale on Amazon, I go to Best Buy for the price match, and then it's covered by this protection plan. For me, it's a no brainer.
