I was happy

I have zero desire to work on my own electronics, or know how to fix them. This plan got me two computer repairs, and then some. Then add in the extra warranty on top, plus install/repairs for anything bought in store. I cant say if its worth the $200/year, but it worked out well for me, right when i needed it.

Plan changing
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was fortunate enough to sign up for the plan that offers more services and I have taken advantage of it — had 2 squad members come out and install a new TV — they also move existing TV upstairs and verified that both were working to factory specs — also needed phone support for my Eason Printer and needed my laptop deep cleaned because a scammer— all taken care of at no additional charge and without any hastle — when renewed next year some of those services will no longer be included but the cost will go down some — very happy to have purchased this service — most item warranties also get extended to 24 months under this plan and members get special discounts

Wonderful service

Informative without being condescending. I know nothing - they are always happy to slowly walk me thru the steps. Really appreciate how responsive they are. And the membership offers lots more than I've ever used. But just in case ... I'll keep it.

Great now, but not after July 2023 for newbies...

I only wish Best Buy would use their own employees for deliveries instead of contractors. However, I will be canceling at the end of my two years because the new program does not have free in-home delivery and installation (w/mounting) nor free protection (so, it's $179 for what, I do not know)!

Great in person and online shopping experiences

However, my first experience buying a laptop in person then using your website was a great experience. The person I was provided was professional and friendly, and they answered multiple questions that I had. Experience that I had was also a great experience that once I selected what I wanted to buy, and I went to pick it up it was ready for me to pick up so it was fast and convenient. I will highly recommend Best Buy to my friends and family.

Best membership offered anywhere, period!

I kept it for a couple years, and then didn’t realize the card I had on file had expired, and my plan did in fact expire, which I’m very sad about. I actually have been meaning to call to see if I pay for it again, if it will cover all the products that it was covering previously. I’m honestly very sad that I let it go every time I had an issue with any of my products I was under the coverage. It was a no questions ask either they gave me a replacement or they fixed any issues I ever had they also answered any questions about the products that I had with clear, straightforward answers, I miss having the Best Buy protection plan for all of my products and regret letting it go. I highly recommend this to everyone if you purchase product from Best Buy at all.

Great value for some, maybe not for others
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The value is there depending on which benefits you plan on utilizing- in my opinion, if you are already set on buying one or more big ticket appliances, the membership is probably the route you should take. I decided to purchase the membership because I required installation and haul away services for a dishwasher that I was getting. The cost between paying for said services individually at Best Buy was only slightly cheaper than the cost of the Totaltech membership, so you've essentially broken even as long as you purchase an appliance that require these services. If you plan on purchasing more than 1 appliance that needs installation and haul away, then you are coming out way ahead for every subsequent free service used. Another perk of this program (now that they've done away with the Elite Plus) is the extended return window. 60 days vs 14 days is a huge difference if you are buying a large ticket item to give you some extra peace of mind that your purchase is performing to expectations. You also get extended product protection automatically on most tech and appliance items. Although this is a good benefit to have, this shouldn't be a primary reason to get the membership as the 2nd year is only active if you are still a paying Totaltech member (make sure to read the fine print!). If this benefit is a major influence for you, you are better off just paying for individual protection plans as they are significantly cheaper in the long run than the cost of membership which recurs annually. One other thing that has stood out to me is that there seems to at least be a noticeable difference in the chat and phone teams as a Totaltech member. Wait times are significantly shorter and customer service has been much easier to deal with- the agents seem to really try to provide a solution. Some might argue these should be basic customer service expectations that you shouldn't have to pay extra for, which I wouldn't disagree with, but if you are paying anyways, I guess it's nice to know you are getting a little more attention.

Get this plan or you may regret it!

I chose Best Buy becayse of the tech department being as good as they are. Anytime I had an issue they both solved it and educated me also. Most places dont do that. Get thus plan,its very worth it.

Amazing Geek Squad Service!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Geek Squad member Justin at the Valley Stream store is amazing with his customer service, I first noticed this young man as he was approaching customers while we wait on the service line, he was polite to everyone he spoke with and I remember thinking, I hope he's the associate I get to help me, Lucky me I did! I came into Best Buy for tech support, Justin made me comfortable enough to ask my tech questions, I had to leave my brand new expense laptop, which made me nervouse but Justin assured me my laptop was in good hands at Best Buy. Two days later I picked up my laptop and again greeted by Justin who informed me of the services done to my laptop and what was done to protect it. My computer is working smoothly and I will return to Best Buy in the future for all my device services. Thank you Geek Squad and especially thank you Justin! Sincerely, Reina W

Total tech is worth it.

To many it seems pricy but I mean you are saving hundreds if not thousands of dollars if you religiously shop at best buy and on top of the sales it has you get totaltech exclusives, you can also get some items before others so pre ordering is much easier. home appliances, Televisions, and yard or home equipment seem to be the most popular items to go on sale so if you find yourself needing items like those, this is a no brainer. Not to mention everything is insured as long as you have your total tech subscription active. So no extra insurance fee, unless you as at the desk.

Good if you buy a lot

We buy from best buy frequently and things that I normally wouldn't spend the money on getting the additional warranty for (speakers, headsets, mics, controllers) are now protected automatically with no additional cost. If you cancel the membership after one year, the fine print says that it WILL ALSO CANCEL the remaining time on all items protected under the service. If you don't buy frequently (read $400 worth of protection costs over two years), then I wouldn't suggest getting the membership.

Worth it for some stuff…

I bought a sub and speakers and got them installed for free. They went out before my first year and I just pulled back up to best buy and they were all replaced with brand new items for free! That was totally worth it! But I haven’t use the membership besides for my car.

Best Value for Protection, Installation and More!

The most applicable are the Up to 2 Years protection on almost every product, the free or discounted installation with purchase, 2 month extended return policy, exclusive discount on certain products, the included Geek Squad services and 2 day shipping. If you tend to purchase protection plans for products or pay for installation, 9/10 times it will be cheaper with this membership rather than buying individual plans. On top of all of this, you are prioritized higher than regular customers when it comes to services such as Geek Squad. TL;DR if you want to: protect your products, get professional installation and hook up, have great discounts, or better flexibility on shipping and returns, there in no better alternative compared to TotalTech.

worth it

It did take three trips to get my BSOD laptop to be fixed, but in the end it worked out. I still have issues with it but they let me know how to deal with them. Certainly worth the peace of mind of not having to deal with pc problem yourself and can focus on other things. Granted you need to be close enough to a bestbuy

Best of all business memberships! (Even Amazon!)

You'd think that with sales you were trying to steal extra money from someone, but that isn't the case. With Totaltech we were told to suggest it to customers to make them happy and not to get extra money. Best Buy looses money by selling Totaltech, but in return gets happy customers who love to shop there more often instead of other places like Amazon. Long story short, there is no catch and this is a win-win situation for business and client. Over the course of 6 months I saved $400 with Totaltech, meaning I got $170 for free and I'm only half way through the year! If you're skeptical about Totaltech, don't be. It's a great choice!
