    For my surprise, I bought a 65 Sony smart tv (the best version/CAM) and the warranty was super expensive, with my membership I have free warranty on everything I buy.

    It’s a waste for me to buy protection for my electronics. , when I had a flood the geek squad just came look at the tv with there’s eyes and said we can’t help?

    I've always loved technology and going into BestBuy is a small slice of heaven. I enjoy looking at the latest technologies and electronics. I have saved so much money with this plan. When something doesn't work anymore, I take it right back. Some people say you can't buy peace of mind. This is one thing that helps.

    It really depends how much you use it. If you need help from Geek Squad several times a year and you are purchasing things from Best Buy it is probably worth it, but is not then not so much. I have been a little frustrasted with the big price jump and the separation of WebRoot from the plan. Now it costs extra rather than part of the subscription.

    I got very confused about seeing a yearly fee that was going to be charged to my account and I quickly cancelled the account. I didn't realize until later that was my extended warranty.

    Best Buy membership is cool. You get discounts, early sale access, and free shipping on lots of stuff. Plus, you can return things later and get special payment plans. It’s great for saving money if you shop there a lot.

    Campus value for ALL my granddaughters new Best Buy purchases. Total Geek Squad support- fix or replace. She is in another state going to school, so I have peace of mind if something beaks. This protection is a god send saving me potentially $$$ when something breaks.

    Terrible Deal - Read the fine print

    The "new" total tech support is a classic example of corporate America - taking a product that works well and then changing it completely for corporate greed for increasing the top line and then giving the customer a worse product from what it replaced. The old Total Tech worked surprisingly well. You paid a yearly fee and then got 20% off on any extended warranties and reduced prices on services such as TV installation, appliance installs, etc. It was like paying membership fees for Costco and then benefiting from reduced rates for the products they carry. That old Total Tech is dead. The "new and improved" Total Tech is a total rip off. Those reduced price extended warranties - gone - replaced by "free" extended warranty for 2 years - as long as you pay your yearly Total Tech fees of $200 / year. Plus every service call under your warranty now comes with a "service fee". The previous options of 3 or 5 years warranties don't even show up. Surprisingly, if you don't have Total Tech - you will get to choose the extended warranty options (like before). So let's do some math - you buy a new iPad Pro - which costs $129 for Apple Care + for 2 years. Under Total Tech - you do not have the option of buying Apple Care separately - you will get Apple Care + "included" however you will need to maintain your Total Tech membership for 2 years = $200 X 2 years = $400 instead of $129. In which world does this make sense? Let's take another scenario. Let us say you bought a new TV and decided to move your old TV to a different bedroom. Previously, you could pay $50 / TV for advanced mounting (where they would hide your wire behind the drywall) and get then both installed. So in this case, 2 TVs would cost you $100 total for mounting. If you did not buy a new TV, you could still use this service and save a bunch of money. Well not anymore. In the "new and improved" Total Tech - free installation is available, however, only for the new TV that you purchase. That old TV which you want to move to the bedroom - instead of the old $50 / TV, you now pay$159.99 (special Total Tech price). I could give more examples but I sense you get the picture now. With this new Total Tech, it is much better to evaluate other options where you get much better extended warranties, better return policies and in many cases better prices. Subscribing to the "new" Total Tech only makes sense if you are buying thousands of $$$ worth of items every year to justify going on paying $200 / year.

      Great amount of information, although some of it isn't correct. You get free protection while you have the Total Tech plan for up to two years on qualifying purchases and when you put multiple product purchases into the equation it more then pays for itself. When it comes to the Television purchase yes before it was 50 for tv mounting so 2 mounting services would be 100, although with the new Total Tech you pay for the new TV and can setup multiple mounting services on the same purchase at the time of purchase, I tried with up to 6 mounting services all showing free, making the purchase of a TV will then provide you with 2 mounting services for free saving $100 from what the old plan would charge.     Best Buy Protection Plans are of great value. Two years of monthly Best Buy Protection is included with all purchases made while Total Tech Membership is active. The benefits received easily pay for the cost of membership itself.
