    Very poor service, no accountability

I bought the membership with the promise from Bestbuy to get the superior service. I bought TV set on February 15 and scheduled an appointment to mount it. The First appointment was cancelled due to the weather condition. The second appointment was scheduled by the associate incorrectly so it was cancelled by Bestbuy. The third appointment was scheduled and I was waiting for 12 hours. Nobody showed up. When I call to the Bestbuy calling center the said that it was not an appointment for the mounting service but only for the delivery of the TV set. They falsified the record but I have the email with the confirmation of both services. After talking to two supervisors and multiple phone calls to the what Bestbuy calls the international calling center, I ended up with the 4th scheduled appointment. I am not sure if it’s gonna happen. Do not buy the totaltech membership. It’s not worth the money.

    Joining is a hassle

Says activated at purchase but activation was not immediate. Couldn’t compete purchase of iPhone 13 (ATT) with TotalTech in same cart (no error, just took me to top of page — tried on iPad, iPhone, and MacBook Air). So I decided to try purchasing TotalTech alone. Worked but there was a wait for it to be active. When it finally showed up in my account and I went to purchase the iPhone, the site kept trying to charge me $9.99 for AppleCare+ (supposed to be included for free as part of TotalTech). I couldn’t remove the AppleCare+ either. Major irritation and colossal waste of my time. Thanks BB.

If you hate your life, this is the plan for you!

This service was significantly modified from it's original offering. It's really crap now and the support you reach via chat is HIGHLY incompetent. It's as if it was outsourced to India, and India in turn outsourced it to something worse. Dedicated support? No, it's more like dedicated wait every time. Nobody can help, everything is a waste unless you go in store. The people on chat waste all your time attempting friendly chat just to tell you they can't help you go to the store. It's so annoying. Another funny thing is they offer 24 moths of protection, but what happens after that? Nobody knows. If you wanted 5 years you might be out of luck with this. I will find out soon.

    Geek Squad value is minimal

Geek Squad now is backlogged 1-2 weeks to get either an onsite or store appointment. I have used this service for years to assist my personal company IT support, but when I went down yesterday, I realized this has minimal or no value. Online support is very weak and cannot handle many issues.

Low quality of customer service, I let it go.

Here is why I canceled the membership (Totaltech): I went and setup an appointment for the installation of: Four 6x9 speakers, 2 Amplifiers, One pre-amplifier, One sub woofer and the new audio unit for my car: a 2013 Chrysler mini van town & country. so the appointment was 3-4 months, there was nothing sooner, ok I will wait, the day came to drop off the car, the technician guy comes out and I am showing him all the components, and he tells me that there is not enough time to install all of these in one day, we will have to do the 4 speakers with the radio first, and for the amplifiers and sub woofer you will have to set up another appointment, aside from another appointment, he is saying to me that there is no room in the van for the amplifiers!! I say to him I want one under the drivers seat and one under the passengers seat, we went back and forth for this for about 10 mins to finally convince him that, THAT is where he can install the amps, he said to ok, you will have to sign a paper that it was you who wanted the amps under the seats, and I said YES I will sign it (I had amplifiers under the seats on my other vans for decades!!) he nagged about the speakers being too big (6x9) for the doors.... anyway finally we agreed and I left the car and went inside to set another appointment to bring the van again to finish the installation (installing the amps and sub-woofer) I go inside the store and for some reason nobody was able to set up an appointment, they told me to call bestbuy's number and set up the appointment by phone, so I said ok no problem I will call. I get the car after about 8 hours, the installation was ok no problems, but now I have to call for the next appointment, I call, and a woman with heavy Indian accent is on the other line and the communication is difficult, I had to explain everything 2-3 times, 1) Amplifiers vs pre amplifier and so on, 2) at the end she gave me a total of $275.00 and wanted a credit card to charge, so I had to explain to her that I have the plan! no charge here! and after that 3) the date is another 3 months away!, OK, I will wait, the 3 months went by and I go there again to drop off the van, I go inside, I tell the technician hi (it's the same guy) I am dadada and brought the van so you guys can finish installing the stereo, he looks at his computer to verify the appointment and he says to me, I see your appointment but is says for 1 amplifier and not 2 amplifiers, so I say to him, it's an error from the person who was on the other line when I set up the appointment, it's 2 Amplifiers, and he is stuck looking at his screen together with the other 2 people (it was to technicians and their supervisor) all just staring at the screen and him repeating that he see's only 1 amplifier and not 2. I continue to explain to him but there was no reception, and at that point I lost my patience for all the months of waiting!!! and I said to my self they can take their plan + these three stooges here and put them up where the sun doesn't shine, I told the guy OK, cancel I am leaving, I went inside the store to talk to the manager and the manager said there was nothing he can do... so, I installed the amplifiers by my self a few weeks later. Now Bestbuy's plan is not bad, you can save money, but unfortunately bestbuy does not have good customer service, at least at that department when it comes to Cars. this review is for that department only. so because of that experience, I prefer to learn how to do it my self than to go there again.

    Poorest customer experience ever

Totaltech is a total ripoff. Don't waste your money, especially when not in a metropolitan setting. Geek squad agents will typically not have the skill set to complete tasks such as appliance installation, so it is farmed out to third party vendors who don't even show up half the time. The last great experience happened today, when they (the Geek Squad) dropped a dishwasher in the middle of my kitchen and just stated "its up to you to get your own installer". Would give Zero stars if it was an option.

Total Tech membership provides many discounts on services, delivery, protection plans with deductibles if used for up to two years while the membership is active. Installs are completed by professionals in the are with applicable policies for standard installs. Some other installs that may require plumbing or replacing fixtures would have availability or additional costs that would be required to complete certain installs. Worst Service Ever with Total Tech Suppoet

Very dissatisfied and disappointed with total tech support. This year every thing I tried to have done or scheduled an appointment was not accomplished. Appointments cancelled and rescheduled 4 times by TotalTech Best Buy. They give you a 12 hour window for in house appointment and then don’t show up. Send something out for repair and they can’t do it or tell you $3000 to repair a flash drive! Ridiculous and insane. So undependable and no care or regard for customers schedule. Just expect To wait with a 12 hour window for service. So disappointed and frustrated with Total Tech Support I don’t think I will renew My membership for the first time in 10 years. Customer service has gone out the window!

NOT THE SAME GEEK SQUAD OF A FEW YEARS AGO.

I paid these guys hundreds of dollars for several years, but every time over the last two years that I took a computer in for service, they did everything they could to NOT even take the computer. They gave excuses that it was no longer supported, too old, etc. Wouldn't even discuss trying to help me. I cancelled my account and got my refund, which was far more than their worthless service was worth. They were once pretty good, but no more.

    Don’t buy this membership ever!

This is a total scam!! Don’t fall for it. When your membership gets renewed it doesn’t even tell you what product it is covering. I’ve called Best Buy and my bank to find out more and dispute the charge of $200+. Best Buy says I don’t have an account. After many phones call to Best Buy customer service I had to actually go into a store to figure out the issue. My account was under a phone number and email that haven’t been used in over 10 years and belonged to my late father. I believe they are charging me for a product that is well over 10 years and doesn’t even work anymore! Absolutely ridiculous and I’ll make sure that I get my money back!

Had Best Buy install my new dishwasher 2 years ago. It just stopped working and I found out the installers had no clue what they were doing and almost burned the house down. I would not ever trust Best Buy TotalTech with anything electrical. The wire nuts that were on the neutral and ground wires had melted. The hot wires were just twisted and taped but the tape is all burnt off. Best Buy wants to charge me $125 to just diagnose the problem. The problem is their installation.

Best Buy Has Started a Practice of Changing its Membership name Yearly one Day is Called "Geeksquad",another day is called "Totaltech"today is Called "My Best Buy"The reason for this is When is time for renewal the Card registered for the charges doesn't recognize the charge and reject it as a ""Fraud"and all you electronic are no longer covered because you didn't pay the renewal that was done automatic.I must say is very clever tactic but everyone should be made aware of this .

    Waste of money

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My wife purchased total tech for multiple appliance installs. The first installers arrived without the necessary stacking kit for the washer & dryer, and the dryer was dented. The second team came (a week later) were incorrectly informed that we still had the dented dryer and were not qualified to install the appliances. We apparently will be waiting another week and a half for the installation. Extremely frustrating experience in every aspect.

I tell all my friends to get the total tech membership. I know they don't understand how valuable this is until they need it. If something goes wrong rest assured you can call, set up an appointment and someone will be at your house to fix it. The people are nice reputable people, you don't have to be afraid of the person coming into your home. Honestly love it, worth the money!!!

    Not worth the price

To have to pay $200 (+tax) every year to extend warranties beyond the initial manufacturer's warranty doesn't really make sense unless you buy A LOT of appliances or other items that cost more than $500. Year after year to pay $200 really didnt make sense for me after the first year. More than a good credit card comes with extended warranty benefits. I will say bestbuy easily refunded this membership after i forgot to cancel it. Perhaps if this was $50/year, one can justify it. But not at $200.

Good deal -- hard to cancel

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Overall the deal is great deal and if you are someone who struggled with tech, has frequent issues, or frequently purchases new tech, then it is a fantastic value. Only caveat is that cancelling your membership plan is not as simple as going online and noting that you no longer want it. I hadn't used it for nearly a year, but then found that you must call Best Buy and talk with an agent for 20 minutes before cancelling. Not the hardest thing in the world, just very tedious any subscription.

Membership has its privileges and it is worth it if you spend a lot of money at the store or online. I have taken my laptops and desktops up and dropped off for tune ups as well as received online assistance (not the best, prefer in person) as well as free installation and haul off, but I do spend a lot with best buy

    Canceled my membership

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This membership is worthless because the tech support is inefficient. They have no online support anymore. You have to make an appointment to bring your computer in (can take 1 to 5 days) for appointment. Then after getting all your passwords they tell you they’ll look at it later and call you. The last two times they had it for a week and told me themselves it took 20 minutes. I was without my computer for a week and a half and needed it for work. Go somewhere anywhere else

We paid our $210.71 membership fee 2-12-23 for our 3rd renewal and haven't had to use it for a few years. We were now told it will cost $ $300 to have a tv installed on an already mounted wall bracket. The last time we had them install a tv, it was $50 and so the language changed and we weren't notified of any changes. Be aware of what you all are buying with this outfit. The only reason I gave them one star is because at least one is required even though I don't think they earned it!
