Customers are saying

Customers praise the Best Buy Totaltech™ Yearly Subscription for its value, Geek Squad support, and the peace of mind it provides. They appreciate the free installation and setup services, as well as the protection and discounts offered. However, some customers express concerns about long wait times, the subscription's cost, limited coverage, and the fact that the warranty ends with the membership.

Amazing Value for Home Renovations & Appliances

This service is excellent for a bunch of reasons but to those who think it's a one time buy for select electronics, you are misunderstanding the program! Yes the special deals are cool (or maybe not if you feel it's another gatekeeper), but the real advantage of total tech is the product coverage and installation services. "Oh but that's a waste! I don't need coverage for a microwave, and who cares if my new blueray player has a warranty!" well in those cases, again, not super worth it. But if you're planning on getting larger purchases, e.g. furniture, fridges, over-the-range microwaves, essentially appliances that need installation, then this is a huge value. Bestbuy covers install and repair of your newly purchased appliances. This is incredible if you're renovating your home, moving, updating your kid's dorm room with new gadgets, you name it. They save you the hassle and all the GeekSquad agents who have helped me have all done excellent services! I had the same pair of agents come by to remount and adjust TVs at my home and they were knowledgeable, professional, and tidy! This program is a huge value overall, worth more than just the one-time ability to buy select items, but it is especially useful for home renovation. Also BB doesn't mention it, but you can and should tip your geeksquad guys, those fellas put in solid elbow grease into their work!

Had a problem with my newly purchased refrigerator when the special ball ice maker stopped working. They came out within 3 days (it was over a weekend) and fixed it quickly. The repair guy was very nice and knowledgeable about the problem and had the part to fix it based on his call to me. Would recommend this service for any frdige as a service call is so expensive.

money better spent on a local appliance repair

The techs, and some of the store associates, are fine- they do their best within the ridiculously inconvenient system. If you hope to have your appliance fixed in a timely manner, like every local repair company does, ie; show up with the parts and fix it, this is not that. They send out a tech with no parts, to "diagnose" (though everyone else does that over the phone by serial number). Repairs with total tech take 3 or more visits, as they hope the part is right, not defective, etc. You will wait all day, 7am -7pm. The soonest appointment is always a week out. The next appointment (with the parts) will also be a week out. You will be many weeks without the use of your appliance. I know because I've gone through it twice- once with a refrigerator, now with a washing machine. Lat time, they offered me a $100 gift card for my inconvenience, but it never arrived. Again, no reflection on the techs- I actually feel bad for them because they use the same outsourced system. When I say outsourced, that's in the full sense of the word, as I was informed that "the stores no longer take phone calls, ma'am". They really took the "service" out of "customer service". Save the money you would spend annually on the Totaltech program and use it to pay for a fast, efficient local repair person. I wish I had. It used to be a nice store with helpful associates and excellent Geek Squad service. Oh well. Another one bites the dust.

Up until recently I have been a tremendous fan of BEST BUY TOTAL TECH soon to be BEST BUY TOTAL. First I ordered updates to my ring floodlight cameras and they charge me an install though they had just installed a new floodlight on my Chicago building at no charge (My current TOTAL TECH does not expire until July 4 2024. Next I purchase a treadmill and it’s supposed to be installed today 6/13/2024. I finally get a winding 10:30am to 2:30 pm. Then a notification Billbis on the way and should arrive by 11:30 am. By 12 noon no Bill. I connect on the Best Buy text and get hooked into an agent chat where I am transferred 3 times. I finally call the support line only to be told “Bill” called in and no one will be coming today. They want to reschedule until next week. I am not available at all next week. I am told these text are automatically generated by a computer, which has no way of knowing if a tech has called off. REALLY!! So I canceled a couple of things waiting for this appointment. I am thoroughly upset with this process. I was already wary of the $20 down shift in price and tremendous decrease in services provided by Best Buy Total. Is this a harbinger of the decline of a once very consumer friendly program. Extremely upset!

    Technical errors with total tech

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

For reasons unbeknownst to anyone, quite a few of my product purchases that should be under my total tech plan were somehow disconnected from total tech in best buy's system. The store associate told me that my computer would not be covered and I would have to pay for parts, however corporate confirmed that I purchased the computer after I purchased total tech and it therefore should be covered. The store can't do anything about it until the corporate/back office support re-links my protection plan to my products, and my computer has been sitting an entire week while I get bounced around to different unhelpful customer service reps and managers. Even though this issue can easily be fixed by geek squad in the store, they allow my computer to sit there still, while I wait for back office to fix this technical glitch with the protection plan being un-linked form my products for apparently no reason. Despite the fact that this is completely not my fault, best buy allows the customer to suffer due to their own internal system technical errors. If I were to pay to have it fixed, they would be able to do it same day in the store. To top it off, if and when this error is fixed, it will be another 3 weeks wait for the computer to be sent out, fixed, and returned. There is also a disconnect between store management, corporate, and back office, and the customer must be the liaison. I am now inextricably linked to best buy due to purchasing nearly all my electronics from them, erroneously thinking that I would have hassle-free product protection.

    Total tech program

Total tech is a great program especially when you are able to plan out the use of services. I had a bunch of electronics upgraded in my truck and having total tech helped save me a lot of money. It’s amazing how many services are included.
