    I've been a total tech member for years and the original plan was well worth the money. I had the Geek Squad out to my house several times for no additional charges. A few years ago, Best Buy dramatically changed the protection plans coverage and it's now a ripoff. I'm a total tech member and the Geek Squad home service is no longer included. I have a problem with my Harmony remote that the Geek Squad programmed and they charged me $160 just to schedule a service call. Well the Geek Squad cancelled the appointment on me a few hours before they were supposed to show up. So far, they haven't rescheduled the appointment and the remote hasn't been fixed. The worst part is Best Buy has my money and I haven't received any service. When the Geek Squad called to cancel the appointment, I asked them about the total protection plan and they even admitted that it's no longer worth the money unless you get service work done on computers or laptops. I'm contemplating canceling my membership and demanding a refund on the service call that I paid for and they haven't even been out to my house. What is also very frustrating is unless you go directly into the store, you have to communicate with someone from overseas that speaks poor English and is hard to understand. I get trying to save money but sacrificing customer service shouldn't be the answer.

    Overall total tech has been very helpful . My number one complaint is that they promote 90% Apple products they completely lost connection to those of us that use Android they never offer any sales options only send us BS on Apple products every day, What a fricking joke!

    Before this membership was changed, my husband and I enjoyed the efficiency and excellence of the services. Now, it is an agonizing process to try and get a contracted-out technician. We were cancelled on once (after paying a $120+ service call) and today we did not get a call or any confirmation and now the appointment has been moved a second time. Very frustrating.

    I highly recommend the total tech subscription it covers 99% of the things that you buy although it is a bit pricey it’ll save your butt in the long run

    This was an absolute disaster of a purchase. We bought a tv at Best Buy and were advised to purchase this plan to cover the cost of the installation. The other benefits of the plan would just be a bonus. We were told purchasing for a year would be cheaper than third party installation secured by us. All sounded good. When we finished our house and were ready for install, we set up the appointment, the Geek Squad came to the house, however, told us they could not mount a tv on a tile fireplace. They would have to escalate to the next level. The guys were very nice and apologetic even though this was beyond their control (and to note, there is no where to note the type of material you are mounting a tv on when scheduling the appointment). Then the nightmare begins...we went through 6 additional attempts at install - some would call to set up the time and tell us they could not mount on tile; others wanted pictures of the tile which were sent and still no-showed; others just ghosted; the third party companies were a nightmare. I spent hours on the customer service line and hours waiting on missed appointments. At one point, Best Buy and a third party vendor told me it would be an additional $500 to mount the tv - where this number came from, I have no idea. This was an awful experience, hindsight I should have just hired local and moved on - which is where we ended up. Beware of what you are purchasing with this coverage...

    Membership NOT worth it!!!

    This membership is a rip off to people who only uses Best Buy for cellphones, watches, and/or laptops. You pay for the membership to have coverage for 2 years but what they won't tell you, is that if you don't renew the membership annually, then you lose the coverage that they say you have for 2 years. $199.99 a year for tech support is ridiculous when you also have to pay for tech service (diagnostic testing, deductible fee) before your cellphone, watch, and/or laptop gets looked at. Do not purchase the membership if this relates to you; purchase your insurance/coverage through the manufacturer ONLY!!!

    Takes a lot of patients when dealing with total tech. Some of the techs on the phone are hard to understand, lots of back ground noise and sometimes sit in the queue for long periods of time.

    Love my Total Tech Support contract that I’ve used several times both on and off sight. Earlier this month, I took an older IPad Mini into the Geek Squad and met with Neel Wadhwana to have all data removed and set up for another party. I didn’t have an appt and the backup alone was over an hour but he graciously worked me in and did a terrific job in making this iPad all new again with confirmation of total performance. Thank you Neel, you rock!!
