Buy it on sale, and only if you have friends to play it with. As a solo game it's fine, but it works best when you play with other people.

Fun and easy pick up and play game. It is nice for younger players because you can set the difficulty level lower for them to even out the playing field.

I've been curious about Big Brain Academy for a while. I thought it might be like brain age on the DS. It is and it isn't. Its a compilation of mini games broken into 5 categories designed that exercise your mind. In single player the minigames get progressively more challenging as you get things right, but will dial down if you get them wrong. You can play the game in handheld mode to use the touch screen, or you can use a single joycon / pro controller. I think the game is best in handheld mode. It has a Multiplayer aspect where you go head to head in each minigame. You can set your difficulty, however, the lower difficulty in multiplayer truly gives those players an advantage. You are rewarded in the game with unlockables such as additional items that can be used to change the look of your avatar. You can unlock a mode that starts at a higher challenge level. All in all I think the game is just OK. The game mechanics are simple enough, minigames are broken into 5 categories. Each category only has a hand full of games. In all the mini games are of descent quality but the rounds are very short (maybe 60 seconds). The multi-player turns out to be fairly fun, however, people who play on easy mode in the multiplayer matches seem to have a real advantage. I think that Big brain academy has some really great mini-games but just don't think the game has lasting power (unless they add more minigames or change the length of time minigames can go.
