I wanted to use this to suck.up.dust from bookshelves but not only was it not powerful enough to be effective, it also has a hard plastic tip that will scratch surfaces.

It does not pick up dust well enough. I bought it to dust the front console of my car, but it did not work for me at all. I do not recommend it at all.
