Would not recommend
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The steam mop was very disappointing. For the price (even on sale) I was expecting it to make our tile floors shine or look close to new. While it removed some dirt they looked the same as before. The area I cleaned was small and it took nearly the entire bottle of cleaner. It also took a while for the floor to dry, the water was not sucked up the way it should have been. I would not recommend this to anyone.

Cash grab
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.complicated to use, doesn't clean well at all. for the price it should be cordless. wife gave up on it after a month, and its been sitting in my garage ever since. I just cant bring myself to throw it away. would have returned it if i still had the box and receipt. its now a very slow garage floor cleaner, and it sucks at that too.

Terrible and expensive
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted to love this product, but for how expensive it is, it is terrible. The steam and mop mode leave deep streaks on your floors even when going over them. The vacuum itself picks up hairs okay, but pushes the dust out of the way so they fly everywhere. There are no attachments to this as well so you cannot get through small spaces. Lastly, it is extremely heavy, you will get tired doing just one room. I can go on, but i think you get the point.

Please dont buy unless you want to buy mine
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Worst purchase I ever made. This thing is supposed to vacuum and mop and it does neither. My floors are awful after using it and its 10 times harder to use than just vacuuming and mopping separately.

Great cleaner with a few downsides.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having small children as well as a pet, I was excited to try this Hydrosteam out. I already own a spinwave and like the way it works but it has recently began leaking. Putting the hydrosteam together was a piece of cake. I read the instructions and filled it up with the pet multi surface formula which was included with several other sample products. Once I started cleaning the floor I did notice that this device is not able to get into corners or all the way against base boards. It will suck up the small particles and dust and hair but it won't scrub as close to the baseboards and cabinets as the spinwave. When using the steam function it takes a few seconds for the steam to appear and I'm not entirely sure that its actual steam vs hot water. I also wasn't sure how long to keep the steam button pressed due to the delay in steam appearing. I cleaned my whole kitchen floor which is where the dog usually is and isn't that big of an area, and had very little cleaning liquid left. I also cleaned a small hardwood floor area where the dog crate sits and it has some black rub marks on the floor. After running the hydrosteam across it several times the black marks were virtually gone. Nice work! I did have to empty the disgusting brown water twice during cleaning, so I will say this Hydrosteam does clean very well! My wife even complimented how good the floors felt afterwards. For larger areas expect to empty the dirty water several times as it does not hold very much. The final test I always do to test if the floor is really clean or just looks clean. I take a clorox wipe and run it across my newly cleaned floor and see if there's any dirt on the clorox wipe. I'm happy to say that floors are indeed clean! The breakdown and self cleaning was actually very cool and worked well. The roller comes apart very easily and the instructions were easy to follow so you're all ready to clean the next time your floor needs it. I've listed some cons and pros but the dirty chocolate milk looking water that came off my floors should be a testament to how good of a job this thing does. Worth it!

Works great and easy to clean.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam cleaner last week and I have really put it to the test. We just finished moving and I used it at the old place on some fairly dirty carpet as well at the new place on a bunch of area rungs and hardwood flooring. I also cleaned carpet professionally for a few years about 20 years ago so I definitely have some opinions about this thing. I love reading and writing a good review but this one is a little tougher than most. Does it come close to the deep cleaning power of a commercial carpet cleaner? No, not really. Is it even the best hardwood home cleaner I have ever owned? Again, no, but I’m still giving this cleaner a very solid review. Overall I like the design. There may be a few more steps to set up and clean than most home cleaners, but I’ve never used something that cleans BOTH carpet and hardwood as well as this thing does. This is why I’m reviewing this item strongly appreciating its versatility and reasonable price point. Unboxing and getting it ready for its first use was quite easy. Honestly I could of done it without even glancing at the set up guide. Everything is well marked and intuitive. The changing of the cleaning modes of rug, hardwood floors and steam clean is easy and obvious which mode you are in. Preparing the well marked cleaning solution container was a breeze and even though it takes several steps, clean up was pretty easy as well. Once you get it set up, most of the cleaning process is automated. But how does it clean? Well, I’d say very well. The area rugs I cleaned had not been deep cleaned for about a year. They had been vacuumed with an excellent cleaner 1-2 times a week. They did not appear to be stained or have any odor or anything like that. But I was able to pull out a solid amount of debris. The collection tub had some gnarly looking water and surprising amount of pet hair. I repeated the process each day for a few days and eventually after 4 uses the water stayed fairly clear. Now that they are clean I think using this every couple of weeks for a quick pass will keep these rugs in excellent shape. A more powerful device would have certainly cleaned them quicker, but considering the ease of use of this unit I’m happy with the results. Shifting to the hardwood I was also quite satisfied with what I saw. I used both the hardwood and steam sterilizing settings. Again I was happy. Both setting did leave some slight water marks when everything dried. My Crosswave only came with a single multipurpose cleaning roller. They make one specifically for hard wood and I suspect the final result would look better if I were to use that roller. Minor aesthetic issues aside, the floor was clean. Again the collection water told the story that a good amount of dirt had been removed from the floor. Had an area where there was some sort of adhesive residue and a little work with the steam mode took care of the issue. All in all I’m quite impressed. Looking at the Bissell website, replacement parts or that hardwood specific roller are all pretty reasonably priced. The headlight is especially nice. The way the device moves and can be manipulated to get under beds and such is decent. So even though this device may not be the best at any one thing (again, former pro so I’ve used better gear than the average person), it’s pretty good at everything. That’s enough for a 5* review from me and as well as a recommendation to get it should a friend ever ask. Well done Bissell.

Wow! Impressive deep clean. Amazed at the results
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like to think my family and I are clean. We're neat people, we don't wear our shoes in the house, and we vacuum weekly. Our home is a mixture of hardwood and carpeted floors, so we're also regular using a wet mop (you know the brand). I think the Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam Wet Dry Vac (mouthful of a name) would make cleaning easier but had no real expectation that it would embarrass me... more on that in a second. In the box you get: - Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam - Self Cleaning Tray - Additional Filter - 1 x 8oz MultiSurface Pet cleaner - 1 x 8oz Hardfloor Sanitizer - 1 x 8oz Clean Cycle Formula (self cleaning fluid). Setup was easy, unbox, insert handle and you're ready to go. The water container needs to be filled and you add your cleaning solution. There's two levels, "small area" and large area". Small area is best for rugs, and large area is if you want to do a few rooms at a time. The measuring container has water fill lines and a marker so you know how much cleaning solution to pour in. Credit to Bissell for doing this, there's none of that 2 parts of this to 4 parts of that instructions. I will note that the include bottles are "trial size" and Best Buy does sell the larger full size 20oz bottles. First go, I used the Hydrosteam on a large (white) area rug. The Hydrosteam is light, the included "headlights" are great and I used the Area Rug mode (the Hydrosteam has 3 modes, Area Rug, Steamwash, and Hard Floor). It took about 5-10min to clean the rug, one pass with the fluid and the second, following the instructions, to lift excess moisture. The end result was amazing and even though this rug has long pile, the rug wasn't wet, just a cool damp that dried promptly. What made me go WOW though was the water collection chamber - it was black, murky, and the filter had also trapped a lot of hair and other residue. I mean, it looks gross but WOW it was cleaning like the rug had never been cleaned before - I felt kind of guilty but inspired, so then I hit my hardwood floors. For the hardwood floors I used the Large Area level in the water chamber. Again, easy to use, the Hydrosteam is light and easy to move around. End result - lots of hair, residue and water that is best described as disgusting. The floor was also not wet, just a nice cool damp that dried quickly. Cleaning the Crosswave Hydrosteam afterwards was easy - the roller brush comes out, the filters and chambers all need a rinse, you run a cleaning solution through it, and rinse everything again. To be honest, I am sold and will be using the Crosswave Hydrosteam at least monthly - I'd use it every week, but I'm frightened it might make me a little obsessive compulsive, as I have never seen anything clean as well as the Hydrosteam. If you own a pet, have kids, or want a clean home you definitely want to buy this!

Loud AF
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just have area rugs and solid wood flooring, i work graveyards and didnt realize the time as i was SO EXCITED to use my new product on my puply mess!! However, it is extremely loud, sounds like a powerwasher youd rent from the grocery stores. I have neighbors that are below me and i probably woke them up! The suction is fine, works on hardwood surfaces, self clean is satisfactory as well. The only thing i noticed is it didnt suck up a lot of water from my rugs and the trigger was pressed merely the whole time to dispense fluid. So i guess suction isnt fine? I wish i would have purchased the one specifically designed for pets in the title but specifications and features are about the same, so i went w this one.

Every step of cleaning easier and faster
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bissell Crosswave Hydrosteam is definitely a good option when looking for a wet/dry vac. I love the appearance. I’m not embarrassed if this is stored out in the open. It looks nice with it’s tray and doesn’t look or feel cheap. I have tile floors in my house and this did a wonderful job. I have kids so I mostly had to use the steam mode to really get up all the messes. It was quick scrubbing up every sticky mess. For science, I rubbed jelly on the floor and let it sit for about 10 mins and it scrubbed it up in seconds in steam mode. I initially tried the regular mode and it didn’t do a good job but it also wasn’t design for that kind of mess. I think for just everyday cleaning the regular mode works great. Any kind of real mess you need to get the steam involved. I also had no problems cleaning up crushed cereal. I like the convenience of this product. I’m typically an old school sweep then mop and bucket person but this was a great replacement combining those two steps. My favorite part was that you always clean with clean water and suck up dirty water. Also the floor dries super quick so it makes every step of cleaning easier and faster. There were a few spots I wish I had a mop so that I could apply some elbow grease. All you can do here is apply cleaner and steam which most of the time is good enough. I wish the water capacity was larger. I don’t consider my kitchen to be very big but I had to use the “large area” fill line to accomplish the job. Maybe this is because I had some problem areas like spaghetti sauce but I was hoping to tackle a couple small areas with one large container. I tried to get some spots off an entryway area rug and it didn’t work the best. It kept moving the area rug and didn’t seem like enough steam and cleaner were getting into the rug to give it a decent cleaning. It might fluff it up some but it doesn’t replace a carpet cleaner. I would say this is more a hard-surface cleaner than a multi-surface cleaner. The LED headlights were surprisingly helpful in seeing the floor better. I had initially considered them kind of a gimmick. The mode display is on the head of the vacuum instead of a convenient place like the handle. The self-cleaning cycle is poorly documented. I think I finally figured it out and it did great cleaning jelly off the roller. I had to wash the top window in the sink though. But there are barely any instructions on the proper way and amount of solution to use this mode. I had no issues with hair wrapping around the roller, it all ended up in the dirty water bin. All in all I would recommend this product especially if you have a lot of hard surfaces in the house and any kid or pet living on those surfaces.

Decent cleaning but a lot of effort involved
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Bissell Hydrosteam is your typical carpet cleaner type device only it operates on both carpet and floors. There are different rollers you can buy for it to clean various surfaces but only comes with the roller for floor cleans so I was only able to try that. It works as is typical by moving the appliance back and forth while spraying the cleaning fluid on the floor, then moving it back and forth to vacuum up the fluid. Not very much fluid appears to be spread on the floor, so it doesn’t take much to vacuum it up. It does a decent job of mopping up messes or just even cleaning a dirty sticky floor so that it is clean and not sticky anymore. It comes with various small sample bottles of cleaning solutions for various situations to clean. When filling the tank with water and the cleaning solution, it does take a surprisingly lot of cleaning solution for the small tank and doesn’t clean that much floor with that, so it is not very efficient with the cleaning solution. When done using the machine, there is an extra step of cleaning it before you can put it away. This again requires filling the tank with more water and a special cleaning solution and is even less efficient with that. You then place the machine on a special tray and run the clean mode. Not sure what this is actually doing but it is required every time you are done. It is a decent overall machine and will do a good job if you want to clean all the floors in your house, but if you want to clean up a small section, it is a lot of work setting it up and cleaning up after you are done so in this case it is not worth it. It should also be noted that after you buy the machine, you will have to buy different rollers for different surfaces and a bunch of different cleaning solutions for various jobs. You will also need to make sure you have space to store it and the cleaning tray.
