    This vacuum really sucks

Well, in most cases, saying something sucks is generally not a good thing... With one rare exception. I can't say as I've written much in the way of reviews about vacuums, but there are a few things worth noting about this one that make it stand out over most other vacuums. First, and probably foremost, for people that own vacuums is the suction. This vacuum does very well in picking up everything I've attempted to clean up with it, even having gone back over other areas my older vacuum had just cleaned, it still managed to pull up more. This says great things about the quality of the vacuum in that it leaves my floors even cleaner than my previous vacuum. Second is the snagless brush... As many people are familiar with, especially if you have family members with long hair, or in the case of this vacuum, pets with long hair, it can wrap around the brush forcing you to have to disassemble the vacuum to cut or pull the hair off of it. So far I've vacuumed a few times and have yet to see any hair wrapping the brush... This is a huge benefit to me as I have multiple family members with long hair and I really dislike having to clean the vacuum a few times a year. The last thing i'd like to cover is the lift-off functionality. While it seems to be potentially hit or miss depending on the person, I find this to be a very useful capability, especially when trying to get cobwebs on the ceiling, vacuum a couch, or vacuuming stairs. It's lightweight enough to not be annoying and you can take it places where in the past I've found myself either tipping over the main vacuum or just having to use a small handvac (IE: inside the car) that does not have near the suction of a full sized vacuum. The potential for the lift-off is really endless. Overall this is actually a very nice vacuum and I'd have no problems recommending it to others.

Few good accessories, less suction, more noise

I have mixed experience with this device, some of the small details are very good, some oversights are beyond me. I have been using one from Hoover previously (Bought at BestBuy), which was a cheaper model, price wise (significantly so). So that is my reference for this review. I do have a dog in my house, who sheds her hair all over the places. The appearance of the device is very good, I like the color combination. Supplied accessories are good as well, I am a fan of the Crevice Tool. My dog's hair goes at some obscure part in my PC, and this tool is good to pick them up, led is a good place for such area. The telescopic wand could have been better, the lock system is faulty as it does not lock, no matter what. The grip is awkward. why they could not have used the handle itself for telescopic wand is beyond me. My 3 years old hoover does it, and does it great. The reach is far short in case of Bissel, it can be lifted but a longer wand would have been better. The pivotal handle is a treat to handle, this adds to so much better handling than a standard handle. There is place for all accessories on the device itself, all but one. The smaller brush roll cannot be placed anywhere. They have thought about holding wire, while cleaning, at the back of the handle; so that the machine will not tangle with wire. Pretty Neat. The vacuum itself is fine, the motor is rated for 7 AMP, my Hoover’s motor is rated at 11 AMP, so in theory it is a lot less powerful than that. Considering above, Noise: The Bissel is less noisy, when the brush is off, but noisier than the Hoover with brush roll on. Which is surprising considering the difference in amperage. Similarly, the small brush roll is also super noisy. I tried it on my dog’s bed, and I think it is a good addition as it is difficult to clean with the standard size roll. I think it does not have sufficient suction to clean it all, so it fetches a lot of hair, yet leaves a lot of them. Cleaning: They are very close; hoover still beats it when I measure the suction, but they both can pick same dirt/trash. But if you are looking for a heavy lifter, it is not. So, considering everything, it’s a mixed bag, looks good, some of the accessories are good, some are okay, it is noisy, for suction it produces. Yet the pivotal handle is a treat, and so does the crevice tool. I would have recommended it if had some more suction. It has plenty for my hardwood floors and top up carpets. So, if you are looking for a lift-up, device and you live in a hardwood floor and have a dog, go for it, or you can search on BestBuy and see if there is a better deal.

I liked the vacuum for the pet hair cleaning features. The pro's will out weigh the cons if you have a lot of carpet or furniture to vacuum and a lot of pet hair. The febreeze smells nice when vacuuming. The con and this is a major one for me is that it does not do well on bare floors like my Tile on the first floor just does not seem to have the suction. I like that it has a long cord so you can get pretty far but where the cord wraps for storage leaves you leaning way over to wrap it up. Overall a great pet/carpet vacuum but would be good to have another for bare floors.

I am disappointed in this vacuum. I own the previous version of the Pet Hair Eraser that does not have a lift off canister. I really like that vacuum, but they have made some very poor changes for this year's lift off version. First, the steering is no where near as easy as the previous pet hair eraser. They are both heavy, and the previous version was passable at steering, but this new model is just plain bad at steering. It constantly gets bogged down it carpet and just won't turn. The suction dial is another issue I have with the new vacuum. This model relies on a knob that you use to adjust the suction for different types of floors, rather than a physical height adjustment. The lack of a height adjustment means that even when the suction is adjusted properly, the vacuum still is very hard to push on thicker carpet or rugs. The previous version has a height adjustment and is way easier to use. The lift off function is nice, but could be better. You cannot take the canister off the base and still use the base with the hose attached. On other brands, you can, which makes for easy vacuuming under furniture and hard to reach places. The attachments are good. The turbo pet hair eraser is awesome and I also like the narrow space attachment with a built in flashlight. Overall, I cannot recommend this vacuum, especially given the design issues and the fact that there are better vacuums out there.

    Pet Owners Vacuum

Great vacuum for a home like ours that has furry friends... I did receive this product to review and have put it through the wring in our house. To paint the picture we have a Great Pyrenees (the culprit) and a Border Collie whom shed profusely. Our home is carpet and tile and this vacuum make short work of it! We have had several vacuums (lower price ranged) and none have really been up to the task. Out of the box, the assembly is fairly simple with one screw to attach the handle and then put on the hose & accessories. Once powered on it does have nifty little headlights and has multi-angle turning head. I did notice right away that the unit is heavier and louder than I would have expected. However, the breakaway feature makes the weight a moot point. On that note, the handheld aspect is really cool and convenient. The "Pet TurboEraser" accessory is ideal for upholstered furniture (or as we like to call them, the place our buddies sleep). Not sure about the LED wand deal, seem more like a gimmick tool but maybe I just do not understand. There are two filters one that is washable and one that is not. However, this model did come with an additional Febreze filter (non-washable) that when installed either leaves a regular spare or the Febreze one for a future use. I have really enjoyed using this product and feel confident it will help alleviate our cleaning issue and make a clean home for my family weather two-legged or four.

Nice vac in comparison to my Dyson Pet Vac, The Bissell gives it a run for the money. For me what makes the Bissell a bit better is that its easier to clean, but the filter(s) are expensive. Setup is very easy. The canister is smaller than any other vacuums which I do not like

I started running this around one room and was so impressed by the light weight and excellent pickup that I ended up doing the whole house! I couldn't believe how much dirt this thing picked up off of our "clean" floors! The lift off vacuum makes cleaning things above the floor very easy. The wand is easy to use as well, making cleanup a breeze. In the week or so we have had it, we have used it multiple times to clean or furniture, blinds, drapes and so many other areas our old vacuum just couldn't reach. If I were to get picky, there are two areas I could ask for a little better design... The side auction is not very good, but the easy to use wand makes up for this. The other thing is that there is no place we can find to store the furniture attachment. We have tried hanging out of every pay that sticks out in any way on the machine! Those two things are not enough to drop a star on the reading, the rest of the machine is so easy to use and well designed. We have finally found a vacuum the both of us are happy with for our entire house.

Bissell has once again impressed me with another pet product. I have the carpet shampooer and that works great! But this is even BETTER!! I dont have to mix chemicals or worry about my carpet changing colors or have to wait for carpet to dry and my pets, while still not happy about a vacuum, no longer have to get locked up during the cleaning process. The best part is it picks up all the hair in one pass! This is one thing every pet owner needs!

The documentation is really good. A printed, illustrated 18 page Quick Start/User Guide that has Assembly Instructions, Safety Instructions, Operations, Maintenance, Troubleshooting, Warranty, and Service. The warranty is five years. I have a older (3 or 4) years Hoover Whole House Upright to compare with so I will go through the comparison. Weight: 18 lbs - Same for both. Power cord: 30 ft cord for the Bissell - longer than the Hoover but the Hoover has a take-up reel and you have to wind the cord around the Cord Wrap with the Bissell. Above Floor Cleaning: Only on the Bissell, but I had trouble getting the canister removed from the handle for awhile. The Bissell has a nice lighted Crevice tool that the Hoover does not have. They both have a Pet Turbo tool but it does not store on the Bissell. Operation: Similar, but the Hoover is easier to use, The Bissell is harder to push around and operate, but it does swivel around and the Hoover does not. The Bissell has a Cyclonic Pet Hair Spooling System that works well - traps pet hair in a ball and empties easily.

I've owned multiple vacuums over the years, when it comes to this one, I was both impressed and disappointed. I was impressed because it did a great job at vacuuming carpet. The suction was so good, that the carpet actually felt softer after I was done cleaning. I was disappointed because it was heavy, hard to maneuver, the controls are in awkward places and the hand tools were so tough to maneuver my hand was hurting.

Works great... for less than a year

We have had this vacuum for about a year- I was extremely impressed when we first purchased it. We needed something that would easily pick up pet fur, and this was by far the best vacuum I've found. However, about 8 months into its use, the vacuum started to lose suction. We've cleaned out the parts to make sure there weren't any clogs, and still have had no luck. Now, we have almost NO suction, and the vacuum just blows stuff around rather than picking it up. Nothing ends up in the canister- when I first purchased this vacuum, I could easily empty the canister at least twice with each use. Good thing we bought the protection plan...

    Lightweight, good suction, terrible quality

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The first time we used it we really liked it. It's been nothing but issues ever since. The filter is too tight in the canister and it's constantly getting clogged, you have to fish around in there and scrape everything off each time you use it. All the seals are bad, you lose suction because nothing is tight and it recirculates that nasty pre filtered air, meaning it smells really bad when running. The release for the dust canister is very cheap plastic and has broken in three places, we've only owned it a few months and the flap is held together with tape. Every time you remove it the bottom gives out and dumps dirt all over the floor. This is a terrible product and has deterred me from buying Bissell products in the future. Do not buy.
