Nice Handheld for Small Stains
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As an owner of two dogs, it's inevitable that messes will happen. Having a handheld is great for smaller stains that don't require a carpet cleaner or taking a rug in. The Bissell Pet Stain Eraser is perfect for these small jobs. The key part of stain removal is the extraction - getting the stain out of the carpet. It doesn't matter what cleaning agent you're using, you need to be able to lift the "mess" out. The Bissell has enough power to lift the stain out. It also has a brush conveniently attached to the bottom of the device. Spray, give a little brush to loosen things up and turn on the extractor. It really doesn't get any easier than that. I had a full-sized cleaner than I would use before, which did a fine job removing stains, it was just a lot of work. Having a handheld is perfect. Unfortunately, (or fortunately depending on your perspective) my dogs failed to make any messes during my review period so I wasn't able to test the effectiveness of the included cleaning agent. Having used other Bissell cleaning agents, I have no reason to think they wouldn't work. The device itself was very effective removing water from the carpet as a test.

Great for treating small spots
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been considering getting a Bissell Spotbot Pet but wasn't sure I wanted to spend the money. When the Pet Stain Eraser came up as an option, at almost half the cost, I decided to give it a try. For what I need, this Pet Stain Eraser works great. Charging time is about 4 hours. Run time could be a little better than the 30-45 minutes I was able to get out of it. What I really like is that they put some thought into the charging port and have engineered a spring loaded sliding cover that protects the charging port when not in use. Once setup with cleaning solution, usage is pretty easy. Turn the machine on, pull the trigger to dispense the cleaning solution, scrub the area with the bristles and swipe the area a couple times with the suction nozzle to pick up the excess solution and dirt. The solution cup seems rather small and will dispense somewhat quickly. The machine feels like a very large dustbuster. But don't mistake it for one, it has a very narrow suction nozzle that is just right for liquids. It could use a second handle towards the front to help guide the nozzle. Cleanup of the machine is pretty easy. Pull a few parts off, pull the drain plug and run them under the faucet and you're pretty much done. Unfortunately, you cannot run the machine while it is charging. I'm not sure you would want to anyways since the charging cord is rather light duty. Overall, a great little cleaner for small messes.

Easy to use and effective
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't have any pets but I tried this to remove some old stains from some outdoor seat cushions and some rugs. In both cases this was fairly effective, especially considering these stains were months old or more. The cordless cleaner is lightweight and easy to use. All components that come in contact with dirt or liquid are easily detachable making it simple to clean just by rinsing the parts under water. Charging time is about 5 hours for about 15 minutes of use, so this isn't something you can really use for long periods at a time, but for it's stated purpose of spot/stain removal, 15 minutes of run time is fine. Overall a great stain cleaning tool that will find plenty of use in my home.

Grading on a curve
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I would like to give this a 3 1/2 star. I'll round up because it is a dependable and well built hand vac/spot cleaner. The great way to describe this is a pet stain spray bottle attached to a hand vac. The basic concept of this is carpet spray, like any $4 bottle at the grocery that you vacuum up 5 minutes later..just like it says on the $4 bottles. This does have a brush built in and there is a dirty water bladder. Just like a full sized carpet cleaner. I may be oversimplifying this, it is a lot more than a hand held vacuum. Having it all together in one unit is great. With the $4 bottle you spray and blot. Walk away and just vacuum after it dries. This will suck the moisture out and pull up the stain before it sets in or dries. I am torn on how to describe this. It seems like it should be more, but it does what it does so well. I would definitely recommend to someone with kids or pets prone to accidents. Exactly who this was designed for.

Easy to Use But Is Unnecessary
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two cats and a 2 year old, so messes are frequently made on our couches (not leather couches). So I liked the idea of having a small device to help lift up stains (vs. using spray can and a rag). But at the end of the day it's no better or no worse than a normal can of Resolve Carpet cleaner and a rag. Sure it's more fun, you use what is basically a hand held vacuum to squirt cleaning solution and then vacuum it up, but after that it's more hassle. You have to empty the dirty water bin before storing (to prevent leaks) and you have to make sure it's charged. What was misleading to me was the brushes. I thought the scrubbing brushes were motorized, but they're not. You squirt the solution and then move the entire device back and forth to agitate the stain and then you vacuum the water. The device does work, there's no doubt. It took care of melted chocolate, pizza sauce, and diet soda without issues. But it's expensive, and you have to purchase cleaning solution (the device goes through it quickly) which adds up. And you need to keep it recharged, all for the couple of times a month (or so) that you need to clean up a stain or spot on your upholstery or carpet. I just don't see what it provides that Resolve and a rag doesn't. It's big downside (to me) is that it's limited to spot cleaning, but that's what it's designed for. If you have the money and like gadgets, this is a great product that does its job. Otherwise, save your money and stick to old fashioned methods of spot cleaning your upholstery and carpet.
