All good things must come to an end, I guess....

Great for occasional use
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was a hopeful “upgrade” to our practice of spraying and scrubbing cat barf on carpet. I was leery of another small appliance because most of my experiences have been with cheap, underpowered devices promising almost magical results. The Bissell Pet Stain Eraser surprised us by how quickly and completely it...erased (?) the spots we thought were here to stay. It seems to do a respectable job on older, “established” stains as well. The only down side is the weight of the unit, as my wife’s are was getting sore using it, but to be fair, she really went to town going after more than a half dozen spots. It’s best suited to a single incident (or two).

Basic but effective approach
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This spot cleaner sports a relatively simple design which is nonetheless quite effective. The unit is battery powered, with the initial charge taking 2-3 hours to complete. One charged, however, the battery should last through several cleaning sessions as the spot cleaning nature of the device means you'll tend to run it for only a few minutes each time. The concept is simple. An "input" tank holds cleaning solution which is supplied in pre-measured containers that require no dilution - simply pour the solution bottle in the tank. In my case the bottle held slightly more than enough to reach the "full" link. The unit has a power operated spray nozzle which does a great job of dispensing the solution in an even pattern the same width is the cleaning head. You then just scrub the stain spot using the static brushes mounted to the underside of the cleaner and use the nozzle to vacuum up the cleaning solution into a discharge tank underneath. I tested the unit on two spots, both of which had been hard to clean and were out of the way enough that they were not at least a few weeks old. In both cases the solution and brushes effortlessly removed the dirt and stain completely. The entire cleaning process took less than 5 minutes and left the carpet surprisingly dry. The vacuum is actually quite powerful and this fact, together with the relatively small suction nozzle, make for very effective suctioning of the spent solution. Cleanup is also straightforward - simply detach, empty, and rinse out the discharge tank. Again - took just a few minutes. It might have been nice to have a clean water option to rinse the carpet of solution after cleaning, and it may also have helped if the brushes spun or agitated in some way, but honestly the results are good enough that it's hard to fault a simple implementation that will hopefully also be less prone to breaking down the road. Not sure how much the little pre-measured bottles of cleaning solution cost, but Bissell sells a 60oz bottle (enough for 7-8 fills) for about $20. Given that I barley used 10% of the tank in my test cleaning, I don't think solution cost will be a big deal. Maybe it's a little overkill to have a battery powered device that really just scrubs cleaning solution, but it's hard to argue too much with success.

Quick and easy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I haven't tried this on a pet stain yet, luckily they are far in between. So I had some old carpet in the garage and dumped a few products on there and gave this bad boy the go around. It greatly beats my large carpet cleaner hands down. It's cordless (takes about 4 hours to charge), it's lightweight, compact, not very loud, and has great suction. It's packed with two sample bottles of cleaner which is nice and a charging cable. I wish it had a wall dock like dyson and Electrolux. Says it will run for 20 min on a full charge but I can't see you needing to run it that long unless you have a lot of animals that aren't feeling well. Also great for quick party spills. Clean water and waste water containers are easy to fill and empty. It's a great tool to add to the house.

Does the Small Jobs
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this because on occasion, our older kitty will have her little mistakes every so often. Got sick and tired of taking out the large upright carpet cleaner. So far, I have used it a few times and it does the job. Highly recommend removing both the formula bladder and the dirty bladder after each use. I do this with ALL of our carpet cleaners...for some reason, if you leave them on while not in use for long a duration of time, they lose their seals and will leak. Empty the dirty bladder after each use and keep the formula bladder out of the cleaner and all should be good. The cleaner is relatively quiet...but given its size, that was to be expected. Another thing to note is the brushes do not move. I know some hand held cleaners have brushes that may rotate or move up/down or side-to-side. These do not move...they are completely stationary. The only thing I do not like is this does not have a rinse feature. You only get the formula bladder and not a clean water bladder to rinse the area you cleaned to prevent soap build up. This is a minor annoyance as it is easily fixed by pouring some clean water on the areas cleaned and sucking up the water. Plus, with the unit being small, it is understandable that it does not have a clean water bladder.

Good for small messes
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have a 4 pound male chihuahua who has a “high stream”. Living in MN he can’t go outside during the winter, and occasionally his stream goes out of the potty bounds. This product is great at cleaning up small messes like that. Although this works for us, I wouldn’t imagine it would be good for larger messes. The suction is not extremely great, and positioning it to “suck” full strength is awkward. In the end, it works for us.

A Great Small Wet Vaccum Cleaner
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A had a very nasty grape juice spill spot on my very expensive Persian rug. I tried cleaning it with soap/vinegar/dishwasher and other detergents with little success. It got only slightly diluted and spread to an area of double of its original size. I used this vacuum with OXI solution enclosed 2 times. After each cleaning with solution I used the vacuum with just warm water to rinse wet spot to get rid of solution leftovers, and it virtually eliminated the spot. A light purple color of the spot has completely disappeared. The spot is barely noticeable. Just looks slightly darker than the rest of the rug with all original color not impacted. I plan to use it once or twice to see if I can completely get rid of it. I’m very happy with the vacuum, and I think, it’s a must have gadget for families with kids if they have expensive rugs and upholstered furniture and want kids to play on them without worrying about getting them dirty. The vacuum looks cool and is very easy to operate and store. The OXI solution is affordable, non-bleach and non-toxic. I strongly recommend it. You will love it.

Exceptional Convenient Cleaning Device
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Although this device seems to be targeted to the pet stain removal consumer I am using it for spot spill removal on carpet and most importantly as a means to gently but effectively clean the floor mats in my car. After charging I immediately prepared the Bissell Eraser using the provided cleaning solution; a simple and intuitive process. The Bissell did an amazing job cleaning my removable car floor mats. The detachable scrubbing brush coupled with the strong suction provided a thorough cleaning while ensuring that all the cleaning solution, and dirt/stains, were removed from my car's floor mats. My floor mats were left refreshed, soft, and clean. This is a remarkable device that is easy/intuitive to use and is extremely versatile. Everything from filling the cleaning solution, emptying the resulting dirty solution, cleaning the device after use, etc. is simple and straightforward.

Very "Handy" but needs constants refilling
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This device is perfect for quick jobs around the house or the car. If there are job bigger than just spot treatment, you need to constantly refill the water tank or get a full sized carpet cleaner. Aside from wet spot treatments, it also doubles as a decent dry hand vac. Best of both worlds!

Terrible design
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this with high hopes but have wound up frustrated and irritated at the poor design. The machine does what it says; it cleans up pet messes fairly well. However, the design of the machine is terrible. It comes with a tiny tank to hold cleaning solution (expensive cleaning solution). I've found that even a basic, small pet mess takes at least one full tank of cleaner. The tank drips so I've tried to fill it in a sink to minimize the mess. However, the body of the machine is fairly large, making this nearly impossible. I've read and re-read the directions and it appears I'm doing everything correctly yet the problem persists. I usually pre-treat the stain and let it sit. There are bristles on the bottom of the machine that allow you to work at the stain. I've never found this to be very effective but it did manage to ruin a spot on a wool rug. The machine then sucks the solution and the mess up through the vacuum. It's nice to have a window so you can tell when the carpet is dry. It has also been fairly effective at cleaning up the messes we've had. Emptying the tank is THE WORST design ever. I'm a laid back person but I find myself swearing the stupid thing every single time I have to empty it. It's a mess. There's a plug that should drain all of the gross water but there's also an opening at the other end of the tank so it's really a crap-shoot as to which side it's going to leak out of first. Every single time I wind up with this disgusting water all over my hands. I wind up dumping it in the toilet but it splashes (poor spout design) so then I have to scrub the toilet. Inevitably, it gets on the floor so that gets cleaned too. In the meantime, I wind up throwing the stupid thing in the sink to minimize the risk so that gets cleaned too. It's a wreck. Seriously, find something else. If I still had the packaging or receipt, I'd return it in a heartbeat.

Works great, but now its a paper weight
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved the product, was very convenient and did a great job. Unfortunately the battery stopped holding a charge. For whatever reason the device can't be used while charging so its a brick. I called Bissel about a replacement battery and they said they don't sell a replacement, best they could do was offer 20% off my next Bissel purchase. Thanks but that is more then what I am willing to part with for Bissel products in the future. According to the user manual the battery is supposed to be removable for recycling but its not, its sodded in. I still have geek squad protection so I am taking it in to see if anything can be done. I am not going to buy the next generation of this product as the battery is not replaceable.

Great cleaner, leaks
