This was a gift to a friend who loved the movie. I enjoyed it on cable so I did not watch the DVD. I made get a copy for myself in the future.

I've always thought that we as a nation (USA) have progressed in the past 50 years in terms of race relationships. It appears I've been deluded all of this time. In this look back at the black American experience in a white society, specifically with the police and the euphemistic "the Organization," Spike Lee has taken a serious matter and contrasted the idealized aspirations of the rise of black consciousness with the rather comedic undertones of the beer-drinking, gun-shooting local bumpkins of no particular ideology other than fear and hatred of blacks. All seriousness aside, BlackkKlansman features appealing performances by John David Washington as detective Ron Stallworth and Adam Driver as his police department cohort as they infiltrate the Organization to determine what if any nefarious machinations are being planned. In a final coda with footage of the events from Charlottesville, VA in 2017, I can only hope that we can and must do better as a people and a nation.

A great movie with history buffs. Great writing and one of the best movies on 2018! A must watch!

Favorite movie of the year... I was not prepared to live it but I did... excellence all around

On paper, BlacKkKlansman sounds like a Dave Chappelle or Key and Peele sketch. But this actually happened. In the 1970s, Ron Stallworth became the first African-American police officer and detective for the Colorado Springs Police Department, and infiltrated the KKK there. The movie based on the book is an exaggeration on what really happened, but make no mistake, it's a story worth watching. At times it's hilarious, but then Spike Lee holds nothing back on the actual situation. John David Washington, the son of Denzel Washington stars as Ron Stallworth, along with Adam Driver as Skip Zimmerman, the detective posing as Stallworth as he infiltrates the KKK. Topher Grace plays David Duke. I normally don't talk about the features, but the bonus features are worth watching if you're interested from hearing from the cast and crew. Overall, as I stated, BlacKkKlansman is one of Spike Lee's best works in years. Do yourself a favor, and check this movie out.
