It's not a feel good cd since he had cancer and this would be his final record.. it was ok but the only song I really enjoyed was lazerous number 3

This album is hit and miss for me. There are some quality songs here but there are others that miss the mark for me.

This album proves that Bowie still had what it takes to bring new things to the table. This seems like a very personal album for Bowie. The music is great. It's sad that this will be the last we hear of this legendary performer. Thank you for your final gift to us - the fans.

I'm maybe not a typical David Bowie fan. I love some of his work, but a majority of his songs (I've got 5 of his albums) don't do much for me. For my taste, Blackstar is his best overall album. Highly recommended if you like any of his work.

I wasn't sure what to expect while listening to Bowie's last recording. I was more than pleasantly surprised to hear David saying goodbye as he morphed into the final phase of his career with grace and his incredible talent entertaining us one more time.

Listened to this disc twice before my comment. Not as impressed with this final Bowie statement as I was with his earlier music. Maybe just me , but it didn't provide me with the same feeling I had with earlier Bowie music. Album was dark and hard to listen to. Sad to see this as his last musical statement.

The unfortunate untimely death of the great David Bowie has only made this album more haunting. Lazarus is such a powerful track and the entire album is just beautiful. Listening to this and not crying is a hard feat to accomplish.

Very different from his past collections, you can't help but feel the purity that is David Bowie's spirit in this record. He evokes a slew of emotions from the first moment the music comes in till the very last second. I will miss this man.

I can't recommend this for the casual listener. This is the last musical testament from an artist who, even in his time of dying, never stopped creating. Excellent musicianship! Take it in like a great painting or sculpture.

The death of David Bowie shocked the World. This being his last recording sometimes sends a shiver up your spine because he knew he was sick when he recorded it. The song Blackstar seems to indicated he knew eventually he would not be around.

This record is intense, heartfelt and dark yet most illuminating. It is evident that Mr. Bowie was acutely aware of his impending mortality and is speaking and singing from his innermost being. Multiple musical genres are beautifully explored and performed. He is missed.

David Bowie was a master of his craft. This album sums up his last struggles in life and him impending death. The songs are heart wrenching but beautiful and hypnotic. Love the entire album! I wish it wasnt his last!

I had been looking forward to Bowie's new album for awhile and this album does not disappoint. It is a lot darker than his other work, but since it is his own version of a goodbye letter to his fans, it makes sense.

    Not Bowie's Best

Initially, I was enthusiastic when I heard about this album. Thinking about Bowie's voice during his "mid years", I figured he'd be capable of pulling of a jazz-based album, similar to Pat Benater's "True Blue" blues album. Unfortunately, unlike "True Blue", which was outstanding, Bowie wasn't quite able to pull it off. Am I disappointed that I purchased this album? Not in the least, for, being his final album, before his untimely death, it will be remembered for years to come. If he hadn't passed away, and released a second jazz-based album, would I have purchased that one? Probably not. Truthfully, this album deserves only a 2-star rating, but, considering the effort he put into it, I bumped the rating up by one star.

For two days, David Bowie's final album was a fantastic return to form; then after his passing it revealed itself a poignant reflection of his life and times and ultimately as a heartfelt goodbye.
