I mean what else is there to say? How many artists have done what David Bowie did? He spent his last months on this Earth creating an excellent farewell. Haunting, beautiful, sad, but reminding us to be happy. People have already said these things, though. So what else is there to say?

Best Buy requires a 50 word minimum or else this review would be just one word: WOW. This is an amazing, weird, troubling message written and recorded to fans while enduring a death sentence. It's not filled with catchy hits...it's filled with the master chameleon's heart and soul.

The fact this came out several days before Bowie's death aside, this is an amazing achievement. Bowie has always been mercurial; constantly changing and going in new directions. His last effort is a pop / jazz hybrid that works. Bowie's song writing is strong as it had ever been.

I bought cd on day it was released and immediately thought it was incredible album. Didn't know David was that sick and passed away 3 days later. Then it all fell into place as this was his swan song!!! This album with its horns and Jazz flavor is worth having in your collection.

I wasn't a huge fan of The Next Day, but listening to Blackstar made me rethink Bowie's newer sound. The songs on Blackstar are great. Howie definitely left a mark with this album. If you're not a fan of Bowie's newer work, I don't recommend this. If you are, this is worth it.

I've followed Bowie for years, from the early 70's and I've always been pleasantly surprised by the different tangents he's taken/took. This album only hinted at what would have been, it took a few listens to get what I thought he was going for, not disappointed to the end.

David Bowie knew his time was limited and wanted to leave his fans with one last cherished gift. That is exactly what he accomplished. Blackstar may not be as fluid as previous albums but it is personal and raw and beautiful. It is an obvious must have for any Bowie fan.

One Last Gift To The Fans

David Bowie has made great music that has spanned almost 50 years. Three days after the release of Black Star we lost a music legend. Black Star is a great last testament to David Bowie full of changes and music from a man who was dying even though the world had no idea.

...what kind of music would you make? That question has to be the reason why I, and many other casual Bowie fans, bought this album. Nothing wrong with that. There is haunting saxophone and a somber atmosphere to give his latter-day electronic / dance sound more weight. Enough to remind us of the Seventies icon we all knew and loved.

Had he not died just two days after its release we might have questioned the dour tone and relatively lean arrangements. Stepping back it's among the most interesting music he's done in years, and seals his place as one of the all time greats. But if you're looking for the Bowie of the late 70's/early 80's, this is not for you.

There will be loads of copies of this available used in about a month or so, courtesy of the people who buy this because he just died. So glad to see that Bowie went out with one of his weirdest recordings. Recommended to those who enjoy music that's out-there.

After listening to this album, it's clear that David Bowie still had so much to say. Although taken too soon, this album is lyrically poetic and brilliant. And it's a fitting message of goodbye from someone who spent his entire life creating such unique art.

The CD is worth getting because it has nice packaging and its the same cost as a download. There is a lot of effort that went into the design of the package. Very nice booklet as well. I'm not a music critic, so I will spare you my review of the music.

This type of music is what I call head music. It's for listening to but not dancing to. It is a good way to say goodbye to a rock icon. David Bowie gave us great music. Like a great work of art, it's better because we no longer have new David Bowie music. (Unless, he's like Jimi Hendrix and the vaults open up)

My favorite David Bowie album is Earthling, so keep that in mind. What is essentially Bowie's farewell album is a bizarre, dark, and sobering look at how an artist tries to express his final thoughts. That album's only fault is that the songs flow too well into each other; it's all over before you realize it.

Blackstar is an outstanding record considering what David Bowie was going through at the time. It doesn't have many tracks (7) but each one is an aural delight. Some people could be offended by the language in a few songs.

Another trancending album from the man. The thin white Duke. Bought on his birthday before he died. The riddle of the album was revealed shortly after with his passing. It's out there it's jazzy, but it's Bowie at a lyrical level like no other

Blackstar is a bittersweet album. I anticipated the release by watching the videos as they came out. The album is wonderful and given that Bowie passed away two days later, it seems to have a lot more deeper meaning. Do not miss this album.

This is a progression of the later period sound he and Visconti started with Heathen.By now the jazz elements have been noted in every review. This is not what you would normally call jazz-it's still Bowie.Every fan knows it's a must have.

So sad this is Bowie's curtain call as I'm a Huge Fan. I've always enjoyed his music as it's distinctly different from any other band or artist for that matter and this album did not disappoint. RIP David, you will be sorely missed....
