That doubles the price. The product itself works great, but you need the other piece.

Posted .Hello Painter! Thank you so much for taking the time to provide a review and feedback on your Blink Mini cameras. I am not sure what "other piece" you are referring to since this camera can function directly out of the box by plugging it into an outlet and following the setup instructions in the Blink smartphone app to connect it to your Wi-Fi. There is a Blink Sync Module Core or Blink Sync Module XR that are separately sold devices that can be used to connect these to Wi-Fi and for our Outdoor cameras and Doorbells, these devices are mandatory which is why we sell the kits with a module included in those outdoor bundles. But they are not mandatory for the Minis. If you are referring to the option to record and save videos, there is a Blink Cloud Storage plan that is $3 a month per device or $10 a month for unlimited devices that also comes with some added features such as package and vehicle alerts. This subscription is optional though and live view with alerts to your phone do not require it. Also, the Sync Module XR (sold separately) offers a local storage option through the microSD card slot as well as extended range for up to 2 outdoor cameras. There is a noticeable delay and sometimes it doesn't pick up at all on motion. Does a decent job overall.
