I've been using the Blink Mini Indoor Security Camera for several months now, and I’m genuinely impressed with its performance considering its size and price. Pros: 1. Easy Setup: It took less than 10 minutes to set up through the Blink app. The app walks you through each step clearly, and connecting to Wi-Fi was smooth. 2. Excellent Video Quality: The 1080p HD video is crisp and clear for such a small device. It’s perfect for monitoring an entryway, pet area, or child’s room. 3. Two-Way Audio: The built-in microphone and speaker are a great bonus. I’ve used it to speak to my kids and pets when I’m away—it’s surprisingly clear for both sides. 4. Motion Detection Alerts: Motion alerts are quick and customizable. You can adjust the sensitivity and motion zones, which helps reduce false alarms. 5. Affordable Cloud Storage Options: Blink’s subscription plan is reasonably priced. If you have multiple Blink cameras, the bundled plan is great value. Cons: 1. Requires Subscription for Full Features: Without the Blink subscription, you can only view live footage—not store or review recordings. A free local storage option (via the Blink Sync Module 2 + USB) is available, but not included. 2. Wired Power Only: Unlike the Blink Outdoor models, this camera needs to be plugged into a power outlet, so you’ll need to be mindful of placement. Final Thoughts: If you're looking for a budget-friendly, dependable, and compact indoor security camera, the Blink Mini is a fantastic choice. While it doesn’t offer free cloud storage and is limited to indoor use, its performance and features far exceed expectations at this price point. I would definitely recommend it for small spaces, apartments, or anyone just starting with home security!

The Blink Mini 2 is an updated version of the original Blink camera system from the last several years. I have never used Blink, so this was a great opportunity to test out the ecosystem given the updated hardware and the trial subscription you get with your purchase. In the Box: - Camera - USB-A to USB-C Cable w/ Wall Adapter - Quick Start Guide Setup: Setup is extremely easy with instructions on the box. In short, download the app, create an account (can be linked with Amazon account), plug in camera, find camera on app, and that’s it! It took all of 5 minutes tops to get the camera and app set up. It did need an update out of the box which took a couple minutes but outside of this was very easy. You do need to keep this camera near a power outlet given it is not battery operated but this should be simple to do. Usage: The camera resolution is up to 1080p, and you can choose between three quality settings within the app. I choose the highest available quality due to having a proper internet connection and wanting the best video available but if you have a weak signal or just want to save data, you can choose a lesser quality. The picture looks good for being “only” 1080p. It would be nice to have a 2K or 1440p option available for a couple more dollars, but this is the entry level camera, so it is acceptable for most use cases. The app has settings to adjust the built in LED spotlight, nighttime recording, motion sensitivity, object detection, audio, and more. This camera has 2-way audio enabled which is nice. After using it for a couple days on the trial premium plan, I think the camera works well. It’s able to detect motion and notify me quickly on what type of detection has occurred. It can distinguish between a person and standard motion which is great. You can set activity zones and adjust several settings to really dial in your use case. Overall: I would highly recommend this Blink Mini 2 who already uses Blink or would like to explore their ecosystem further for home video protection. I would like to see a higher quality camera available as an option in a similar size package. The app seems to work well and the camera has given me no issues.

Our family has been using Blink cameras for a couple of years now. We have Blink Mini’s around the house to help with keeping an eye on our pets as well as the entryways. Well, we now have the new Blink Mini 2 to add to the mix. To start, let’s review what’s in the box. There is the camera, power cable, plug, starting guide, and mounting screws. Everything fits nicely in a compact box. After unpacking, I went through the steps to set it up. The walk through the app is painless, and the camera was up and running in no time. It doesn’t get much easier than this. Blink lets us know that this new addition, the Mini 2, has improved on a lot of its predecessor’s offerings. They have added a little spotlight to help with things in dim lighting or at nighttime. Depending on the placement and situation, it does an okay job. It’s not going to be wonderful for illuminating things in the distance, but it works decently for things near it. Another improvement is the quality of the picture being shown. I did a side-by-side comparison with the older model and there is a definite upgrade in what’s being presented. The images are crisper, the viewing angle is wider, and the lighting is much better when it’s darker. Finally, they designed this model to be better equipped to work outside. I haven’t been able to check that yet (thank you, Midwest Spring weather), but it’s on my list when it warms up. Is the Blink Mini 2 perfect? No. However, if you are looking for a simple camera and system that can tackle almost anything, then there aren’t better than the Blink Mini 2 and its price point. This little camera provides a quality picture with decent audio as well as options (some free and other fee based) to help you watch your pets, secure your home, or just talk to someone that’s at another camera.

I first got blink cameras to install in a relatives house, when they were coming to stay with us for awhile. They lived along, so we didn't tell anyone about them, not thinking we needed to, but we didn't hide them either. Some people got pretty upset about that, so that is one thing to consider if first setting them up. We know make sure anyone knows they are there, and that they are free to unplug them if they want to, as long as they plug it back in. They actually worked great. Gave us great peace of mind leaving their house unattended for several months. Cameras come with a free trial subscription that records activity, but after that expires, you either need to subscribe for a monthly fee, or rely on just a life feed. The live feed works fine for our purposes. We pointed one at the front door and one at an are covering the two other entrances to the house. We were still on the free trial, when imagine our surprise, we got a text saying activity had been detected. We checked the recording, and sure enough, someone they knew was in there house. It was someone with a key, but they had not been asked to check on the house. No one knew they were going to the house. When asked about it they said they had come to bring the mail in, but the mail had been put on hold, and they were not asked to bring in the mail, so there was no mail to bring in. They said since they had come to bring in the mail, they just checked on the house while they were there. Let's just say, this explanation was accepted, but had the cameras not been installed, no one would have ever known that person was in the house. Now people know the cameras are there. No more surprise visitors Once this person returned home, the cameras were used to check on their well being, still are. If they are not answering the phone, you can turn on the cameras to make sure they are ok. You can even talk to them through the cameras. One day, they were not in the house. We tried calling them. Couldn't find them. Called local people in the area. They couldn't find them either. Turned out, they had been in a car accident and were at the hospital. We had learned there was a problem long before we would have, because these cameras were installed. Needless to say, I then bought some and installed them in my own house, so I can keep an eye on it when I am away. You even know when your power goes out, because you will get a message that your cameras have gone offline. This latest blink Mini 2 camera is a nice improvement on the previous generation, because It now has USB C It can be installed outdoors The camera itself came with an indoor power supply, and this unit also came with a power supply for outdoors as well. It even comes with mounting hardware. I have currently installed it indoors, but I do actually plan to install it outdoors. I may even just buy another one for outdoors and keep this one indoors because it is covering an area I didn't have covered before. I really just try to cover the doors. One end of my house doesn't have any windows on the first floor, and when I let the dog out, it always wants to go to that end of the house where I can't see it. I can see it from the rear windows, and I can see it from the front windows, but during the transition period, I can't see if it is coming back to the rear, or going to the front, so my plan is to mount it so I have a view of that area from inside the house. It is a really perfect solution. Installation for this was fairly painless, but I did actually have to open the manual. First you scan a QR code with your phone, no problem Then, you are instructed to press the reset button on the camera to continue I could not find a reset button to save my life. As it turns out, the reset button is very cleverly hidden under the camera mount. You have to remove the camera mount to press it. Once I figured it out the rest of the installation was easy, and as an added bonus, the new camera reactivated my trial subscription. As for performance overall, just the cameras in general are worth it for the piece of mind. It has a lot of features, like you can disable motion sensitivity on lower areas of the display. We do this so our dog doesn't activate the camera. This apparently has a new feature though, which I have yet to try, where AI will determine if what it is detecting is a person or not. Hopefully this helps with some of the false positive notifications we used to get with the previous generation from spiders building webs in front of the cameras, or the light through the curtains causing changing shadows on the wall throughout the day. Can't say that I have tried that feature yet, but having used the older cameras before that feature, I can certainly understand the usefulness that feature will offer. I also have mine all tied into my Alexa. So as I am walking out of the house, I can just say Alexa activate blink, and if the cameras detect anything, I will get a text and when I enter the house just say Alexa deactivate blink and it will turn them off. If you forget to turn them on before you leave, you can just open the Blink app and arm them that way too. It really just gives peace of mind and as for the subscription, you can just activate it if you are going to be away on a trip or something. That way when you have a chance to check the camera, any activity will be recorded. They are actually a much better investment than I ever anticipated they would be. You should have them for your own peace of mind for your own home. You should have them in the homes of anyone that you know that live alone that you might be responsible for keeping track of, especially if they are elderly. You should just have them.

    Funky Motion Detection

The camera itself seems to be well built and was relatively affordable. The video quality is not the greatest but is pretty good given the price. There are a few things I don't like about it. Every time I go to view the camera feed at night, it blasts the front light on. There aren't any settings in the blink app that can fix this and its annoying having to turn it off every time I go to view the camera at night because it reflects against the window and washes out the image. The biggest issue I have with this camera is the motion detection. This camera cannot record continuously, and will only record for up to a certain amount of time when motion is detected. However, sometimes the camera completely misses a person walking right past the camera or a car driving by and it doesn't save anything. So, this is more of a supplement to a proper home surveillance system and you have to hope the camera records an intruder or catches a moment when you need it. However, the live feed is pretty useful and the two-way audio is fairly decent so it's still a nice camera to have around.

Easy to use cameras. Bought the doorbell version first. Loved it so much I purchased these for the inside of my home. I have pets and they like to get into mischief a lot when I’m not home so I like to keep an eye on them. Honestly they are so easy to set up. Straight forward directions. Sound quality could be better but you get what you buy and for the price the sound is very good. The picture is also extremely good. Even the night vision is very good and clear. I like that I can also set up the doorbell to ring through one of the other cameras you may have connected inside to act as the doorbell sound. I have tried a lot of cameras and none of them have lived up to expectations or even the promise of what they were supposed to work as they should. I don’t think I will be moving from another camera for a while.

NOT Outdoor Ready Out Of The Box! & Not That Great

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

{TLDR: I have it so I’ll use it and I like how much fast this camera connects when I say “Alexa, show me the back door” but I wouldn’t buy another one because of all the extras that need to be purchased to make it work as it advertised on the box.} There are a few things to be aware of UP FRONT and that are mandatory to purchase in order to get access to all of the “benefits” listed on the camera’s description and packaging. The benefits listed are not available just because the camera was purchased…other purchases for accessories and subscriptions ARE REQUIRED to access the “New Features” that this camera advertises. Too many non-included extras are needed to make this work to its potential and that REALLY INFURIATES ME! This is NOT AN OUTDOOR CAMERA WITH WHAT COMES IN THE BOX! A Separate purchase must be made to buy a Separate Cord that is “Water resistant” and provides a longer reach and even though it is longer than the INDOOR ONLY CORD that comes with the camera, it is still too short, in my opinion. The SEPARATE Outdoor Cord has a Huge “box” along its length that needs to be hidden, stored or mounted somewhere where water doesn’t puddle. The end that plugs into the camera provides a tight seal to keep moisture out. That same end is built as a 90° plug & due to the size and shape of it it is impossible to fish into conduit of normal size to further protect it from the elements, damage and vandalism. Although it is longer than the cord that actually comes with the camera it is still too short for many outdoor applications & there’s that large “box” built-in the cord to still contend with. In fact, even the “indoor” cord is too short & this camera suffers from the same as all the other BLINK MINI Cameras in that I would need to purchase a longer cord for use indoors and the “longer” cord now available for outdoor use isn’t long enough and it is bulky and cumbersome to use. The marketing on the camera in the camera's own packaging and descriptions as being an “Indoor/Outdoor Security Camera” & then NOT INCLUDING the water resistant power cord as standard, in the same box as the camera is really poor practice, in my opinion. If I were to have ordered this online or picked this up in store & see “INDOOR/OUTDOOR” on the box (description) then brought it home to install outside & found out that I needed to buy an additional accessory cord that isn’t in the box already would have infuriated me! A separate cord MUST BE PURCHASED in order to use this outdoors! For the life of me I don’t understand the marketing mentality here. It is not an “Outdoor Camera” if you do not supply the camera with the accessories needed for it to be used outdoors in the same box the camera came in that says “INDOOR/OUTDOOR” ON THE PACKAGING!!! (...with tiny little asterisks next to the caveats in very fine print on the box.) Why not just include the Outdoor Cord in the box because it can be used indoors or outdoors? There is no reason to have 2 separate cords & make me buy extra stuff to make it work as listed on the product’s details! It makes no sense, unless I was the one trying to make profit from the sale of the device to the public. SECOND CON (Pun Intended): There is a 'BETA' option on this camera, in the app, to detect motion only "if it is a human" & it “kind of” works. I have countless (literally) motion captures labeled as “PERSON” and all the clip shows is a stick blowing in the wind or my umbrella moving around from the wind…NOT A PERSON! It’s not perfected, to say the least, and it is only available if a subscription plan is active on the camera. So it is a pay to play service that doesn’t even work! The Camera does come with a free 30 day “trial” access so a user can see if the subscription fee is worth it to have access to this feature and a few others. This feature alone, being that it doesn’t function properly shouldn’t be part of the subscription level in my opinion. Especially with all of the competitive options on the market that offer better tech that actually functions correctly and that tech isn’t tied to a subscription. The "all motion" detection selection works perfectly also and this is my preferred setting for all of my BLINK Cameras. My view on it is that, I would rather have too many recordings triggered than take the chance of it not triggering due to a setting or “BETA” testing issue because the feature has not been perfected yet! Last I checked I was not on the payroll with BLINK and quite the contrary, I pay them EVERY MONTH! I really do not like paying a company to do their testing for them on a “BETA” …”FEATURE!!!” I wish that upon release this “BETA Human Only Mode” was not “BETA” and was already tried and true having been tested by the company BEFORE sending it out for sale and listing it as a benefit of the purchase. It is not a benefit to me on the item unless it is 100% full functional and working properly and I do not like ordering things and then being part of the testing procedure for the new features WHILE PAYING A SUBSCRIPTION FEE TO ACCESS THAT FEATURE!!! Oh yeah, by the way, this 'BETA' human only detection feature is only available with a premium payment...AKA a "subscription fee." So another add-on cost to the end user just to use the camera as it is advertised. The subscription fee is the same as all their other cameras but I disagree with advertising features of the camera and then not allowing access to those features unless I pay more every month. I, personally, feel that is a bit deceiving and I don't appreciate that marketing mentality. This “BETA” feature is the only thing I can see different in the software vs. other BLINK Cameras I am using and this “feature” in my opinion isn’t all that special for it to be locked out to users that do not have a monthly subscription attached to the camera. There are competitive options out there that have much more advanced features than the “human only” detection available on this one and they include the access to those features as part of the user experience of the camera and just for buying the camera. THIRD CON: The volume on this camera is TERRIBLE!!! Even turned all the way up it isVERY LOW volume and this effect is multiplied when placing the camera outside. I was hoping that since this camera has the ability to be outdoors that the speaker volume would be able to handle the demand of an outdoor placement. It does not and fails miserably. My indoor BLINK MINI is way louder than this camera in side by side testing. Lower volume on an outdoor camera just doesn’t make sense to me and in real world use people cannot hear me very well at all when talking to them with the BLINK MINI 2 and because it is so small it is even hard for them to find so they can try to get closer to it to hear what I am saying to them. PROS (Short List): If you are familiar with BLINK Security Cameras this one will be a standard add on for you as it was for me. I have a couple other BLINK devices already so I am already familiar with the service. For those new to BLINK this is still a simple set up and no techy knowledge is required to be up, connected and running in under 5 minutes. This camera does connect faster than my other cameras when I send a request for the feed via the app, but especially noticeable when saying "Alexa, show me the backdoor." I am used to my other cameras lagging for quite a while when asking Alexa to show them but this one pops right up! THAT firmware upgrade is REALLY APPRECIATED and I WISH on a falling star that they would push that out to the rest of the cameras! The camera records very clearly and works well at night with or without the built in LED. The LED can be set to on or off, can be set to stay on for different amounts of time and also to trigger with motion to aid in video capture quality when recording at night. The footage looks really similar to my other BLINK Cameras with ~maybe~ a slightly better quality although it is tough to tell and it might be just a placebo effect. It is quite clear, crisp and defined and nighttime captures are the same whether or not the LED is set to trigger or if it records in night mode. In the app there are very minor differences to the camera controls vs. other BLINK Cameras. Basically this is a BLINK Mini with an LED, that can go outside if you buy the extra outdoor cord and it responds faster when wanted to display the feed using a voice request. I have not found this camera to be “ground breaking’ or worth singing from the mountaintops about. In fact, the way it is packaged and supplied has done quite the opposite and has irritated me more than anything. It does work well except for that “human only” motion detection option but luckily that can be unselected in the app because it does about the same as “detect all motion” and in my testing there doesn’t seem to be any difference between the two. Overall, this camera has TOO MANY EXTRA ADD-ON COSTS & MANDATORY EXPENDITURES associated with it in order for it to live up to its “On The Box Promises” and I find those extra costs unnecessary as a consumer and very distasteful! I would only recommend it as far as general overall performance is concerned when compared to other BLINK Cameras and if one was OK with all of the extra spending involved to get full access to the camera’s advertised “new features.” The low volume on the camera is a huge issue for me as well as paying a subscription to aid in testing a BETA feature that clearly doesn’t work. I would not buy this camera again. This one disappointed and failed in too many ways for me to recommend it to friends and family and the only thing I liked about it was its ability to load a feed faster than my other cameras load their feeds when requesting them with Alexa or through an Amazon device like the Fire TV cube or a Show 8. I would for sure look past this in the future knowing what I know now about it.

Exactly what we were looking for! This camera is perfect for keeping an eye on our dogs while we're away. Setup was quick and effortless, and connecting it to my phone was a breeze. A word to people buying this product make sure that your Wi-Fi can operate in 2.4 gigahertz because if it can't this camera can't connect to it. I spent over two and a half hours trying to get it to connect thinking I was doing something wrong I uninstalled it I reinstalled I tried every feature changed it over and over and over again until my son figured out, in less than a minute, that our internet can't change the GHZ level when you're a user. Aside from that the picture is great all the features are awesome I got this camera for 20 bucks and it's well worth over that. I of course got it on a Christmas sale so this camera is absolutely worth buying I recommend it to anybody.

Noticeable upgrade from the previous generation. I’ve bad multiple original blink minis that performed well. I needed a couple more for a separate location and when I noticed they had new ones on the market I had to try them when I was very happy and impressed with the upgraded performance and quality that I gave my others away and bought a whole new set. Great job Amazon. I also have the Outdoor 4’s

These little cameras work just fine. Good quality picture. You are able to talk to someone.
