Hello, MayC. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Blink Mini 2. I understand your concern about the subscription requirement for cloud recording. I want to clarify that the Blink Mini 2 offers valuable features without requiring a subscription. Without a Blink Subscription Plan, you can still enjoy live view access to check in on your home anytime, two-way audio to communicate through the camera, and motion detection alerts sent directly to your phone. For customers interested in local storage options, both the Sync Module 2 and Sync Module XR enable you to save video clips directly to a USB drive or microSD card for the Sync Module XR without any monthly subscription fees, giving you complete control over your recordings while eliminating ongoing costs. The optional Blink Subscription Plan enhances your experience with cloud storage for video clips, extended clip length, photo capture capabilities, and video sharing options. Plans start at $3.99/month per device or $11.99/month for unlimited devices, providing flexibility based on your needs. Many customers find the local storage option with the Sync Module 2/Sync Module XR (sold separately) to be an excellent alternative that eliminates ongoing monthly expenses while still capturing important events. If you have any questions or need help with the device, I recommend contacting Blink Customer Support at 1-833-392-5465. Thank you again, have a great day! AmazonDevices

This product is really good. The only thing I feel is that sometimes the camera I put in my living room is not capturing movement like I would like it to. I have this camera to help protect my home and family that is why it is important I don’t know if it is the way I posited it or the something else. However, the camera picture and video are really good. The app is easy to use which makes it simple to do what I need to do to monitor the videos that are saved. I like that the cloud storage is a good price.

I recently installed the Blink Mini 2 Indoor/Outdoor 1080p Plug-in Security Camera to add a sense of security around my apartment, and I've been quite impressed with its performance and features. Setting up the camera was surprisingly straightforward. Following the instructions, it took me just a few minutes to get it up and running. Mounting the camera with the included mount was hassle-free, and the Blink app made it easy to connect the camera to Wi-Fi and integrate it with my Alexa devices. The Blink Mini 2 offers excellent video quality with its 1080p HD live view. The built-in spotlight enhances the night vision capability, allowing me to see clear, colorful images even in low light conditions—a significant improvement over typical black-and-white night vision. The broader field of view covers more area, which is excellent for monitoring larger outdoor spaces. The two-way audio feature is also crisp and clear, enabling me to communicate easily with anyone near the camera without any noticeable lag. However, there are a few downsides to consider. First, while the camera is relatively affordable, full functionality depends on additional purchases, like the outdoor power adapter and a paid Blink subscription plan for enhanced video storage and intelligent notification features. This can add up, making it more expensive in the long run. Also, the dependency on a strong Wi-Fi connection for optimal performance may not be the best choice in areas with weaker internet service. The Blink Mini 2 is a solid choice for a versatile and effective home security solution. Its easy setup and excellent video quality make it a valuable addition to home security efforts. Just be mindful of the additional costs for outdoor use and subscription services necessary to unlock its capabilities.

Hi JasmineD! Hello! I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing multiple issues with your Blink Mini 2 camera, including error codes, loading problems, color switching to black and white, and significant delays. I understand how frustrating defective equipment can be, and I appreciate your feedback. First, ensure your camera has a strong Wi-Fi connection and try power cycling it by unplugging for 30 seconds, then plugging it back in. Check that you're using the latest version of the Blink app and verify your infrared night vision settings are configured correctly, as this can cause the color-to-monotone switching. If issues persist, try deleting and re-adding the camera through a fresh setup, and ensure it's positioned within optimal range of your router with minimal obstructions. You can contact Amazon Customer Support 24/7 at 1-888-280-4331 to discuss warranty replacement options. They can verify your purchase and process a replacement if the camera is determined defective under warranty coverage. I hope this helps resolve your issue! AmazonDevices

After 2 months, camera won't connect to blink servers. After many many emails with "customer service" all they do is attempt to guess what the problem is. Many the darn thing is non functional, how about that? They will not offer to repair or replace. After a few replies, they just stop answering. Will never buy their products again and i will make sure everyone is know is aware of the kind of company this is

The Blink Mini 2 is a decent device, but not flawless. Despite some shortcomings, I'm satisfied with it and would suggest it to anyone seeking a simple, user-friendly camera. Upon receiving the camera, there weren't any physical instructions, with the included paper directing me to download the app. I assumed the app would provide information on mounting, but I discovered that it wasn't the case. I did discover there are instructions however it was after setting up the camera and already mounting it outdoors. More on that later. The setup process was straightforward, before deciding on mounting, I plugged it in and started the setup process. Creating a Blink account and connecting the system to my Wi-Fi was seamless. The app shows the network strength of the device and according to the app it’s ‘strong’. Before mounting, I tested the camera and there was noticeable latency within the app. It took approximately 2 to 5 seconds for the app to display movements compared to real-time actions. I assumed this was just initial jitters, but after mounting the camera, rebooting everything the latency persisted. I think this delay might be a minor inconvenience in most situations but a bigger issue if you intend to use it for two-way communication. The latency persisted regardless of the quality setting (Standard, Saver, or Best). For mounting, Blink assumes a basic level of mounting knowledge, which is understandable given its straightforward nature. However, not everyone may possess such knowledge, particularly for indoor/outdoor mounting. The kit however does include some basic anchors and screws. Along with some wire mounting screws and clips. I wish the app inquired about the intended use of the camera and provided mounting instructions through an OPTIONAL tutorial or directed users to the app's Help section for additional information and mounting instructions. This way the user knows there’s resources that can be explored. While I was planning the installation, I accidentally dropped the camera from a short distance, causing the mounting portion to detach from the camera. Surprisingly, I discovered two mounting options, one for the back and one for the bottom. It would have been helpful to have a tutorial explaining these options from the beginning. But this worked out in my favor because I actually was struggling to figure out how to get it the way I wanted with mounting it from the bottom which is how it came from Blink. This is explained in the help section of the app, but at the time I had no idea it was a thing. Once it was all set up, I planned on integrating it with my Amazon Echo Show. The Echo didn't automatically detect the camera which I found strange, but adding the Skill and signing into my Blink account was super easy. Using voice commands to display the backyard footage on the Echo Show worked well and worked as you’d expect it to. I didn’t have any issues integrating it to my smart home. In conclusion, while the Blink Mini 2 has some minor drawbacks, it's still a solid choice for anyone looking for an exterior camera. It's user-friendly and provides good video quality and is a great addition to my home. Now I can watch the kiddos outside and know if my dog wants to come inside with a simple notification.

I’ve been using the Blink infrastructure for the last several months. My system consists of several Blink Outdoor cameras and I do pay the 10 dollar a month subscription fee for video recording. I really like the Outdoor 3rd gen cameras, being how they are battery operated, they can be placed just about anywhere. The Blink Mini 2 is not battery operated; it must be connected to a power source at all times. It can be used inside or outside, but you’ll need to make sure that you have a place it can be plugged in. Set up was as easy as one would come to expect from a Blink product. Open the app, click ‘Add’, use the smartphone camera to take a picture of the code on the back of the camera, and follow the instructions to add to the system. I was up and running in less than 5 minutes. I have the camera sitting in the front window, facing out onto the street. The wide angle lens allows me to see nearly 180 degrees, catching the entire front yard and the door. This is definitely a much more powerful camera than the Outdoor Gen 3s. Waking up the camera to catch a live view is very quick. Picture quality is excellent. When armed, its motion detection is excellent. I turned on person only motion versus all motion, and the Mini 2 does a great job of ignoring the cars that drive by and focuses on the people only. If you are already invested in the Blink infrastructure, this is a great addition. If this is your first foray into a Blink system, it’s a great starter piece. Highly recommended.

I have already got several Blink cameras installed in my home monitoring system. They are all doing fine (mostly) for indoor applications. The wireless ones are ok but still lacking. This one is a good upgrade and a nice addition to my home system. Beside the water resistance that was introduced with this Blink Mini 2, the camera quality for outdoor videos improved. Also, Blink added a better classification for the detected motion. If person motion was detected, the notification would list: "Person" a new feature to ignore any other motion and keep the ones with person detection. Video quality, and image in general, improved. Night videos are getting clearer and the Blink2 is more responsive. The LED flash light is good. It allows a better video call quality when the outside is dark. The camera is well sealed. The length opening has a rubber gasket where it meets with the plastic enclosure. It should withstand Houston humidity and the outdoor conditions. I am not big fan of wiring for outdoor camera so I am getting a power bank with a solar panel to install another Blink Mini2 on the far side of my house. As I mentioned earlier, that's a good addition to my home system camera. It should help you too for some location where you may wish for an extra light recording. I'd recommend getting it for indoor and outdoor applications.

Good entry-level motion camera;great video quality

-- SUMMARY:-- This is a good entry-level motion camera with good video detail even in the dark. The two-way audio communication and ability to turn on/off a built-in light are welcome features. The main drawback I find is that it does not record videos for as long as there’s motion. Instead, it only records snippets of videos with at least a 10-second “pause/retrigger” time in between. -- THE GOOD: -- - Fantastic video quality when there’s light, and pretty good quality in the dark (black and white videos) - Ability to configure whether the built-in light turns on upon motion detection and how long to stay on (up to 10 minutes). This allows recording color at night instead of black and white videos. - Early notification. I like that this camera sends an alert almost as soon as it detects motion. If you press on the notification while the video clip is still being recorded (or within 5 seconds after it completes recording), it will take you to a “Live View Session” which allows you to see what is happening in real-time and to interact with whoever triggered the motion detection via the two-way voice. IMPORTANT: Make sure to click on the “Save” button BEFORE ending the Live session or otherwise no clip will be saved from the moment the live session was started. - “Flip Video” setting: This is super handy when mounting the camera upside down (for example, next to or below the ceiling-mounted garage door opener). Enabling this option allows for the video to be recorded flipped so it doesn’t look upside down. My older battery-powered Blink cameras do not have this setting. - Photo Capture: This is an on/off setting that, when enabled, the camera takes a photo once per hour when “armed”. I find this very useful because when opening the Blink app, the thumbnail you see is at most 1-hr old. This allows you to quickly see if there’s something suspicious (in case the photo shows something unexpected). In my older battery-powered Blink cameras, this setting doesn’t exist. That means that when opening the Blink app, the thumbnail that you see is an “old” one, which could make you believe everything is in order when it might not be the case. -- DRAWBACKS: -- - No continuous recording. Only a max of 30-second video clips (minimum of 5 seconds) and a minimum retrigger time of 10 seconds (max of 60 seconds). This is my main complaint. There’s no way to set the camera to continue recording while there’s motion. That means that in the event of someone stealing something, for example, it will only capture a snippet of video, then nothing for at least 10 seconds before recording again. This is not ideal if the intended use is for security and potentially sharing videos with the authorities. In my case, I had an older battery-powered model of a Blink camera in my garage. When I opened the garage door, someone came in immediately and stole a bike. The older model took a few seconds to detect the motion. That meant missing the moment the person got into the garage and the recording started when the individual was no longer facing the camera. Then some events happened that I wish were recorded, but recording stopped for 10 seconds before recording another clip, missing crucial moments. I believe the motion detection is faster in this mini blink 2 camera. However, I was hoping I could configure it to continuously record while there’s motion without having to wait 10 seconds in between video clips. Alternatively, I wish it could record more than a max of 30 seconds at a time. Unfortunately, this is not the case. - Live session default is to Not save the video session. I would have preferred that live sessions are automatically recorded by default. Instead, you have to remember to click on the “Save” button BEFORE the live session ends. This is particularly annoying when receiving an Early Motion Notification and tapping on the notification, which will end the video recording and start a live session. If you forget to click on “Save”, you risk losing important video footage.

This is a very compact monitor camera with a basic design. The base provides good positional range, and the camera stays firmly in place. It does not have remote adjustment capabilties as more expensive models so it must be positioned manually. It can be placed outside as it is waterproof and has optional screw holes, making it easy to install. In order to see the video, which is very clear at 1080p resolution by the way, you will need the Blink app. I already own a different Blink cam so adding it to the ecosystem was super easy. There, you can watch in real time what is going on. The picture varies depending on lighting conditions and has a “night vison” mode when in complete darkness. You can also listen and speak through the camera, which is convenient as an intercom alternative. The camera offers motion detection which is quite sensitive -even when something moves far in the distance. The icing on the cake is the flood light option. The camera is also compatible with Alexa and its app, which expands its functionality for many. In order to record or download videos, or receive advanced notifications, you will need to subscribe to the service. It’s not that expensive but worth noting. In the end, I think this camera offers a lot of features at a very decent cost (especially if you need more than one). Definitely worth looking into when thinking about entry-level security.

Blink Mini 2- Another Great Blink Product!

This is my 5th Blink Camera. I have some of the old ones that I use on my fence so I can see into my back yard, another one that I use outside at various times, like if we are out of town. This new Mini 2 is small and very versatile. Even though it’s powered, its very flexible. I use this both inside and outside. For inside, its great to plug anywhere so I can watch my lab so she doesn’t get into trouble if we are going to be out for a few hours. I also like putting it on my deck so I can also watch her in the yard, on the deck and patio. It also has a great spotlight that you can turn on and off in the app. It’s especially helpful later at night when my solar patio lights burn out and I want to turn it on while I let the pup out. This blink is fast for me, I can move it and plug it in and by the time I bring up the app on my phone, there it is! I really like the ability to setup motion zones in the app. The Blink settings are very customizable which is great and they are straightforward and easy to understand and use. You can also set privacy zones which is nice because if you have part of the field of view which is frequently used or maybe like a hot tub where you want privacy, you can shade out those areas so they are not captured. Overall, yet another great Blink product. I must say that I have several different camera types in addition to my Blinks. My Blinks catch more movement than any of my other brands. I recently had an issue with one of my other brands not catching someone coming into my back yard. I may be looking at replacing all with Blinks!
