They are limited to about 10 feet to what they pick up a image of. Most of the time they will not detect a soundunless it is verry loud. But on the other hand if you leave them on at night the bugs will activate them.

Not worth purchasing

I'm always resetting the base module. The images and recordings are not good at all at night. Very blurry, grainy and unable to see what's there. The detection is always delayed for the recording, and it almost never catches what turns it on. The cameras also detected every bit of motion and will record all the time from a bug, a blowing leaf, or the grass moving.
