I have been using a Blink surveillance system for my house for years now. I started with the first iteration of the Blink system and have been able to add cameras as necessary to ensure full coverage around the house. When provided with the opportunity to try the 4th generation camera, I figured I would give it a shot. For most of my needs, there really is not much difference from my perspective from the first cameras I had for the Blink system and the newest 4th generation camera. The quality on all of the cameras is pretty good and the night vision option works well. The new 4th generation includes a 30-day trial for a service that can automatically determine whether motion is because of people or something else. Personally, I never found the system too intrusive. Additionally, I started using Blink prior to the 2020 cut-off date, so I do not pay a subscription fee. I am not sure this feature would add any tremendous value to necessitate transitioning from a free service to a paid subscription. Being in a colder climate, I have found that the batteries in the previous cameras typically do not last a full two years, but it is pretty close. One complaint I had about the older cameras is that they will occasionally need to be reset, which means removing them from their mount, opening them up, taking the batteries out, putting the batteries back in, closing the case, and then re-mounting the unit. As I have only had this 4th generation camera for a short period of time, I do not know if it will suffer from the same issues. I did see a reset button inside the unit, however. Oh, there is also a screw mechanism that secures the back cover to the camera now (as opposed to the spring-loaded clips that were in the earlier iterations that I have). It is not as convenient given that I need a screwdriver to open the back cover now, but it is something that only needs to be done when the batteries fail, so it is not that big of a deal. Probably the largest complaint I have with the cameras is the mounting hardware that comes with them. While the 4th generation camera seems to be a little better in this regard compared to the cameras I already have, I am still not a big fan. The main mounting hardware is static and allows the camera to point one direction (perpendicular to the wall on which it is mounted). If you want to attach the camera to a ceiling or overhang, there is a mounting arm (? not sure what to call it) that goes between the camera and the mount at a 90° angle. Using this arm then allows for 360° of motion along a single axis (horizontal, if the mount is attached to a ceiling or overhang). Unfortunately, this does not allow a full range of motion to fine tweak the aim of the camera. The system also uses a plastic clips to hold everything in place and I am not 100% confident that the camera will not eventually disconnect from its mount. As with my previous camera, I went online to buy a more substantial mount in which to place the camera. While these mounts are not horribly expensive, it would be nice for Amazon to include something a little better than what they currently offer to facilitate more flexibility in mounting the cameras. (This is a minor issue that would have impacted my review score if 1/2 stars were allowed. As it is, though, the camera and the Blink system works just fine and I am happy with it.)

The cameras are going offline and you need to take them down and pull the batteries to reset them. It is difficult to do.

Nightmare. Best Buy is a nightmare to deal with my blink. Products did not work. I spent hours and hours on the phone making several complaints. It was ridiculous and Best Buy still has not remedied the situation.

To slow, takes to long before it recognizes motion. And the distance that it detects motion is only about 30 feet if that. I would not recommend. A person will already be knocking on your door before you are alerted that someone is there, waste of money in my opinion

Possibly the worst cameras one can purchase , they do not last at all with charge and stop working after a week , have to continuously put new ones and again don’t last very long

Don't bother! What they don't tell you is that you need a separate module to connect to the internet. Stupidest thing ever. Ring cameras have all in one camera and module for connecting to the internet (and a cheaper subscription).

The new Blink 4 outdoor security camera is a good option for more budget minded shoppers. The Blink system has a lot of options for this price point. The camera arrived well packaged with the camera, Sync Module, batteries, USB cable, mounting kit and power adapter. Setup was fairly straight forward, although I found the directions severely lacking. As with most things these days, you need to first install the Blink app and create an account. The Sync Module is the "hub" for the blink system. After installing the app and creating an account, plug in the Sync Module and connect the system to your wifi network. Install the batteries in the camera, add the camera in the app and "follow the directions." That sounds simple enough but I had trouble getting everything to connect properly at first, and there are no other written directions if you run into a problem using the app for setup. It took several tries before the camera would show up in the app and there was no way to troubleshoot anything until the camera was recognized. My advice: after connecting the sync module to your wifi network and installing the batteries in the camera, wait 5min before trying to install the camera in the app. I think it just takes a while for everything to communicate together. During daytime the camera has a nice, crisp picture. I find the low light capabilities to be sub par, but the night time/infrared works very well. I like the fact that notifications can be configured so that I don't overwhelmed with alerts, and there is also a motion detection sensitivity slider so you can adjust how quickly the camera fires a notification. The included mounting hardware is easy to install.

I have several Blink camera’s inside our home mainly to let us know when we are away how our two dogs are doing, but I had never purchased an outdoor camera. I was pleasantly surprised that it also included the Sync Module as well. I mounted this at the entrance to my woodworking shop simply because it would be easily accessible for me to reach once I need to charge the battery. And w/ out the included sync module I don’t think the Wi-fi would have picked up to our house. Already having the a Blink camera the setup was simple and smooth. And w/ in minutes I had the camera installed w/ the provided mount (no screws supplied) and it took no time to adjust the angle of the camera. It is very lightweight and the mount is designed that when I need to recharge the camera that its simple to remove. This 4th generation is a little more advanced than the Blink that I have inside our home, I have generation 2 I think and the video/picture quality w/ this Blink Outdoor 4 is very, very clear. I have purchased the plan that I pay for each month and I can store videos through the cloud or on the card that I purchased that inserts into the camera. I also love the fact that it works w/ our Alexa home system and to view the camera’s once we get an alert is available by phone or on our Echo. I like the fact that it lets you know the distinction between movement and a person. Very good quality camera and system. I will be purchasing several more outside camera’s to pair w/ this one.
