Due to password not being recognized to connect, which is untrue since my Arlo and other WiFi devices had no issues. The savings deal had already passed and i was not wanting to deal with it anymore returned for a full refund.

It complained High Usage although most of the functions including Motion were disabled. The Network strength showed weak in Yellow color in XR mode even the distance was about 200 ft which was far less than 400 ft.

The Sync Module XR does support local storage, but you're right that the functionality isn't as robust as some users expect, and the cloud subscription often feels like the path of least resistance for accessing full features and reliable playback.
We hear you on this. If local storage without subscription requirements is a priority for you, this particular model may not be the best fit. There are other security camera systems on the market that offer more comprehensive local storage options without pushing toward a subscription model.
