The camaras do not record with regular slim cards, the instructions indicated that they would, the only option is to pay for the monthly subscription of services. This should have been clear before my purchase.

      Dear KennethR,

Thank you for your feedback about the Blink Outdoor 4 XR camera system. I apologize for any confusion regarding the storage options.

To clarify: While the cameras don't use SD cards directly, you can store recordings locally without a subscription by:

Using the included Sync Module XR
      Inserting a microSD card

      You have two storage options:

Local storage: Free using a compatible microSD card in the Sync Module
Cloud storage: Requires a subscription plan

I understand this wasn't clear during your purchase, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you'd like help setting up local storage or have other questions, please contact our support team at 1-888-280-4331 AmazonDevices

Solid Cameras To Complement My Existing Setup

I am using the Blink Outdoor 4 XR specifically to complement my existing camera system and cover two persistent blind spots on my property, and it's been exactly what I needed for this purpose. The extended range capability really delivers - I was able to position these cameras in areas where my previous setup couldn't maintain a reliable connection. The wireless nature made installation straightforward, and I didn't have to run any additional cables to these hard-to-reach locations. What really sold me on this system is the SD card support. I'm absolutely tired of every company pushing subscription services for basic features that should be standard. Being able to store footage locally on an SD card without monthly fees is refreshing and honestly should be the norm. It's my property, my camera, and my footage - I shouldn't have to pay a recurring fee to access it. The video quality is solid for a security camera, providing clear enough footage to identify people and activities around my property. Battery life has been reliable, and the weather resistance has held up well through various conditions. Setup was intuitive, and the app interface is clean and responsive. For anyone looking to expand their security coverage without getting locked into another subscription service, the Blink Outdoor 4 XR is a practical choice that actually respects your ownership of the device.

Hi Kenli, I’m sorry to hear the batteries in your Blink Outdoor 4 XR cameras are draining so quickly. Battery life can be affected by settings and usage, but you may be able to extend it by lowering clip length, reducing motion sensitivity, and limiting live view sessions in the Blink app. If you’re still seeing only a few days of use, I recommend contacting Blink Customer Support at 1-833-392-5465 so they can review your setup and help improve performance. I appreciate your feedback and hope you have a great day! AmazonDevices

Hi Kay1020, I am sorry to hear about your experience with the Blink Outdoor 4 XR. Motion detection should work consistently, and I understand how frustrating it can be when it doesn’t perform as expected. I recommend checking the camera’s placement and adjusting the motion detection settings in the Blink app, as these steps often resolve the issue. If you’re still having trouble, our customer support team is happy to assist further. Please contact us at 1-833-392-5465 so we can help ensure your system is working properly. Have a good day! This was my first experience with the Blink line of products and I am quite pleased. Set up was simple - download the Blink app, plug the wireless XR module into an AC outlet via the included USB-C cord and adapter and connect it to my wireless network. Next add the cameras in the app and link them to the module. Sounds like a lot of steps but it was real easy. The hardest part was removing the back from the camera to install the batteries and scan the QR codes. Speaking of batteries - the cameras are powered by AA lithium ion batteries that claim to last up to two years! There are three different connection settings available for the cameras. The Wifi mode is best for cameras in the house, or very close to the house. It provides 1080p video and the module can support up to 10 devices. The XR (extended range) mode allows you to place the cameras up to 250 feet from the module but the resolution drops to 720p. In XR+ mode, the cameras can be placed up to 400 feet from the module but resolution is reduced to 360p. This might be ok if you just wanted motion detection but probably wouldn't provide a clear enough image to identify someone. However, when using the XR or XR+ mode, you are limited to just 2 devices (cameras). If you have a large property or farm and wanted more than 2 cameras, you would have to purchase additional XR modules. There are Blink subscription plans available. The basic plan covers just a single device and is $3/month or $30/year. The Plus plan covers unlimited devices for $10/month or $100/year. Both plans offer cloud storage, motion detection, and the ability to download/share clips. However, you can get motion activated notifications, live view streaming, and two-way audio without a subscription. The XR module also has a Micro SD slot for up to 256gb of storage. Overall, the Blink system works well and was easy to set up. I won't be signing up for a subscription plan, but will definitely utilize the motion activation and live streaming options. With the XR module in Wifi mode, I can also add up to 8 more devices!

First a little background on why I rated these as average. I removed two cameras that were not in the Blink system and were not the same brand. I was hoping that these two cameras would replace those two and would be an upgrade, since I have three other outdoor Blink camera’s that are on seperate Blink Sync Module. Blink says that you can “see even more of your property” but I actually lost some areas w/ this Blink system that I had w/ the two older cameras. I like the fact that these two wireless outdoor camera’s have the XR+ I installed them on the backside of our property, which is about 350 ft away from our wi-fi router and they stay connected really well. I like the fact that I now have all my outdoor cameras on ONE App and that I don’t have to switch between Apps to see what set off the alert. I like the clarity of these cameras and I hope that the batteries will last two years as Blink says they will. They were very easy to pair w/ our Alexa “stratosphere” and we are able to monitor them better. The problem I had is I cannot get these to recognize my MicroSD card to save the images locally. I had an older SD card and I deleted everything and formatted it again before I installed it in the XR Sync Module and it would not work. I purchased another SD card and tried it as well and still no luck. These two Blink security camera’s are not noticeable at all which is a huge plus and they include all the hardware to mount them. I have them underneath the eave of the roof and they are practically out of the weather and direct sunlight, but w/ the others that I have rain/sleet/snow never has been a problem. The other Blink cameras I have are several years old and I have to say these have a lot better clarity. I would “hesitantly” recommend these Blink - Outdoor 4 XR Wireless security cameras.

The Blink Outdoor 4 XR is a great camera system for those looking for a bit of piece of mind and security around their property. I’ve used other iterations of the Blink Outdoor cameras and they always worked pretty well so I feel it’s a brand I can trust based on my own experiences. The Blink Outdoor 4 XR is going to give you the ability to place your cameras at a farther distance while still monitoring activity. However based on the distance, you will lose video quality. XR mode will get you 720P and XR+ drops down to 360P. Setting up the cameras wasn’t too bad. I had a bit of an issue getting the module to talk to the cameras initially but eventually got them all working. I have one camera set up high on the eve of my house and one by my front door. Haven’t had any connection issues so far and they have been working great. I walked around the exterior of my house and out to the street with one of the cameras to test out the XR mode and it seems to be working as I’d expect. There is definitely a reduction in video quality and a bit of lag time when viewing in the app but it worked nonetheless. As far as battery life goes, it’s hard to tell at this point. I never got more than about 6-9 months from the batteries in other blink cameras and I’m not expecting any more than that with the Outdoor 4. All depends on your settings. A returning feature is the ability to pop in a micro SD card to store data. I’d definitely recommend this to view and store footage. Don’t know about you but I don’t need any more subscriptions. Overall this is a good camera system. Especially if you want to place a camera further out in your property. Recommended!

I moved into my first house a few months ago and it took awhile to get settled in. Now that I have everything done, it’s time to add cameras to the front porch and the back patio. Thankfully, I’m not worried so much about crime, more so what was pulling up my flower beds. I had a Blink doorbell at my old condo so I know how the app works and I know that they make a quality product. This system is really easy to set up and install. Adding the WiFi module was simple, as was adding the cameras. I probably had that done in under 10 minutes and then I was ready to install them. Mounting is simple and Blink offers a couple of different options depending on the space for install and the angle you want that cameras at. The mounts simply snap into the cameras which will make it easy to remove them for recharging and changing the batteries. Be careful when you position them, use the app to get the desired angle, which I was able to do while holding the camera up on the ladder. If you have a second person to handle the app that would be helpful. Now that they’re mounted properly, I have a great view from my front door out to the walkway and the landscaping. Now I can catch those pesky deer in action and see if anyone is approaching. These are great cameras working off of an excellent system and app. I highly recommend them.

    Decent Hardware, Multiple Flaws

This is a decent camera system. I find the quality of the cameras to be great. The app is also very responsive, and it is not difficult to view the live camera feed. As with most camera devices, this camera has a flaw that I personally find very annoying. It requires a subscription to have unlimited cloud storage and other features. If you ask me, things like this should be included with the product. If you're going to charge for things like storage, at least give me the option to connect my own Google Drive/OneDrive or local server storage. Another flaw with this camera is that it doesn't have 24/7 recording. Even if you pay for the subscription, it only records motion events and live-view recordings, which I don't think are worth the cost. If I remember correctly, other brands allow 24/7 recording. Setup was took a while. I'm not sure if I just didn't look at the manuals enough (I think I did), but it took some time to set up. The screw on the back was so difficult to remove that I had to use a drill to take it off. Overall, I'd suggest this camera for anyone who just wants to be able to have an occasional live look at the outside/inside of their house. Otherwise, there are other options.

Easy Installation, Affordable and Good Clear Video

The Blink Outdoor 4 was very simple to install with the wire free installation which any one with limited experience would be able to install with no issues and the cameras are easy to manage through the app which downloaded. I like the broader and wider views this product offers. I don’t like the fact that you must have a subscription for certain features for the cameras but do like the fact that it gives you the option to store footage locally using the sync module and a USB drive. The daytime picture is very clear, but the night vision quality is functional but is a bit hazy and not very clear especially without external light source, but I guess with an added light it would be improved but is good for the price of the cameras. Just waiting to see if the battery life holds up to what is described for the product. I like the fact that it is budget friendly and offers an affordable option for those seeking an inexpensive and reliable way to monitor their property. Viewing the footage on the Blink app on a smartphone is limited. Overall, I am liking the fact that I can view the momma bear and her three new little cubs in my yard. So pleased with the overall quality of the product.
