Hello, CharitoA. Thank you for taking the time to leave a review on the Blink Outdoor 4 Camera System. I am sorry to hear that one of your cameras is not operating the way it should, and I have some recommendations to try and help. If your camera is offline or can't communicate with your Sync Module, the camera’s thumbnail will appear dimmed with the message "Camera is offline." I have some recommendations on what to check: Power cycle your Sync Module by unplugging it for 30 seconds and plugging it back in. Power cycle your camera by removing the batteries for five seconds, then reinserting them. Check the battery level and replace them if needed. Verify your Wi-Fi connection is stable and active. Check the signal strength between the Sync Module and the Outdoor 4 camera. Check the signal strength between your Wi-Fi router and the Sync Module. If you have any questions or need help with the device, I recommend contacting Blink Customer Support at 1-833-392-5465. Thank you again, have a great day! AmazonDevices

The cameras and app work pretty well, but one camera burns through batteries. Blink claims batteries will last two years. Battery life is very dependent on the setup of activities which means limited use.

The Blink Outdoor 4 XR camera system offers a sturdy and easy-to-use option for individuals looking for reliable outdoor surveillance. Its design and characteristics are ideal for both tech-savvy individuals and newcomers to smart home technology. Here’s an in-depth examination of what makes this system a reliable option and where it may need some improvement. - Installation and Configuration: The setup process for the Blink Outdoor 4 is quite simple. Thanks to its wireless design, installing the camera needs no drilling or complicated wiring, making it user-friendly even for individuals who aren't very skilled. Just secure the mount with the included screws, click the camera into position, and follow the easy instructions in the Blink app to link the camera to your network. In just a few minutes, your camera is operational, offering immediate reassurance. - Image Quality and Efficiency: The Blink Outdoor 4 XR captivates with its image quality. The HD video records sharp, clear visuals during both day and night, enhanced by its infrared night vision features. This clarity is essential for efficient security monitoring, allowing you to readily recognize faces and specifics in recorded video. The improved motion detection is alert and reactive, notifying you quickly of any movement within its visual range. -Main Characteristics: Prolonged Battery Duration: A key highlight of the Blink Outdoor 4 is its remarkable battery longevity. Under normal usage, the camera can function for as long as two years on a set of AA lithium batteries, greatly minimizing the frequency of battery replacements. - Two-Way Audio: This feature lets you talk directly through the camera using the Blink app. This is especially beneficial for engaging with guests or discouraging possible intruders. - HD Live View: Gaining access to live high-definition video from your smartphone or tablet provides real-time observation features, enabling you to monitor your property at any time and from any location. - Alexa Compatibility: The Blink Outdoor 4 XR works effortlessly with Alexa, allowing voice-activated live streaming on supported Echo devices and enhancing your smart home setup. - App Functionality and Constraints: Although the camera hardware performs exceptionally well, the related Blink app lacks a bit in functionality. The app is typically straightforward to use, but it falls short in sharing features that certain other security systems provide. For example, providing access to live streams or recorded videos to family and friends lacks the intuitiveness and flexibility it could offer. This constraint might be a factor for users who value comprehensive sharing features in their security system. Moreover, the app’s interface, although easy to navigate, occasionally appears somewhat simplistic and could use more sophisticated customization features. For instance, configuring motion detection areas or modifying sensitivity involves going through multiple menus, which could be simplified in upcoming updates. - Dependability and Total Worth: Despite these slight app limitations, the Blink Outdoor 4 remains a dependable and affordable option for outdoor security. Its strong capabilities, including long battery life and HD live view, offer thorough monitoring without the inconvenience of cables or regular upkeep. The integration with Alexa provides an additional level of convenience, allowing you to oversee and manage your system using voice commands effortlessly PROS: - Simple, cordless setup - Clear night vision in high-definition HD video. - Durable battery longevity Two-way audio enables direct communication. - Smooth Alexa integration for voice command CONS: - Restricted sharing options within the application. - The app's interface might be enhanced to be more user-friendly and tailored. Conclusion: In summary, the Blink Outdoor 4 XR camera system offers a balanced blend of ease-of-use, reliable performance, and essential security features. While there’s room for improvement in the app’s sharing functionalities and user interface, the system’s overall value and effectiveness make it a strong contender for anyone looking to enhance their home security without breaking the bank. Its combination of quality hardware and convenient features ensures that you can monitor your property confidently and conveniently.

Blink Outdoor 4 XR – Exceptional Coverage Without the Clutter If you're searching for a wireless security system that actually lives up to the range hype, the Blink Outdoor 4 XR might just be your perfect match. With an impressive 4.4-star average from 39 reviews, it’s striking a chord with users who want reliable, long-distance coverage without tangled cables or installation headaches. Extended Range That Delivers Thanks to the Sync Module XR, this system boasts up to *400 feet* of wireless reach—making it a game-changer for larger properties or tricky setups. Whether you’re monitoring distant driveways, barns, or side alleys, the connection stays surprisingly stable. Just note: video resolution may dip slightly at max distance in XR+ mode, but coverage is the true headline here. Set-and-Forget Power They say a Two-year battery life on AA lithium's. Of course that cannot be tested in a week. It would be refreshing not to be constantly swapping batteries or fiddling with settings. Smarter Motion Alerts The dual-zone, enhanced motion detection is noticeably quicker. Notifications hit your phone fast, giving you a better chance to assess real-time activity. The 1080p HD live view, infrared night vision, and two-way audio round out a solid performance package, especially when paired with the sleek Blink app. Easy Integration & Control Managing up to 10 devices from the Blink app feels intuitive. It’s easy to group cameras together, arm/disarm zones, and even share clips securely. Cloud storage is free for 30 days, and if you want to keep things local, the Sync Module XR supports up to a 256 GB microSD card (sold separately). What's in the Box You're set from day one with: - 2 Outdoor 4 cameras - 1 Sync Module XR - 4 AA lithium batteries - 2 mounting kits - 1 USB-C cable - 1 power adapter MicroSD card sold separately, but everything else is there to get rolling quickly. Bottom Line: This dual-camera kit is ideal for those wanting security beyond the porch light. With exceptional wireless range, smart motion tracking, and minimal maintenance, it’s a top-tier choice for peace of mind inside and far beyond your front yard.

The Blink Outdoor 4 cameras with the Blink Sync Module XR are a great deal for a monitoring system. Blink has made it extremely easy to set up the cameras and sync module. Everything needed to get started was included and packaged well. There is the option to save recordings locally to a micro sd card, a micro sd card is not included and not necessary to get started. There is very little instruction included, however, details can be found online. Setting up the app was quick and easy. Connecting to Alexa was as simple as always. I like the distance that these give me. I was able to place one of the cameras on the back corner of the fence where I have never been able to stay connected before. I have had no problem with the signal so far. Video is certainly clear enough for my needs and I knew that putting the camera further away would sacrifice some of the clarity as it is made clear when selecting the longer signal range in the app. It's been raining pretty much everyday since the cameras arrived, and even though they have lithium batteries inside, the waterproofing seems to be holding fine. The battery life is supposed to be 2 years under normal use, I'll be happy if they last half that long before needing to be replaced. I'm happy with these cameras and the sync module xr for long range connection.

I was looking for a set of cameras that I could set up at my parents house so she could monitor her basement as well as the utility area to make sure nothing was leaking or anything like that. She is in her mid 80-s so getting up and down the stairs is pretty hard to do. Not to mention the si-fi in the basement is pretty poor, so I thought the extended range would be perfect for this situation! Out of the box these cameras are pretty simple. They are just black cubes probably around 3 inches square and maybe an inch or so thick. To get up and running you have to unscrew the screw on the back plate and then insert the 2 AA rechargeable batteries (that are supplied). Then you just screw on the back cover and you are ready to get them paired to the app. You can download the blink app for Android or Apple devices. Currently there is no windows or mac desktop app or way to view them on your computer, would be nice if they could make an app for that too. So, I loaded up the app on my mom’s iPad and then got the sync module connected first, then I paired up each of the cameras as well. It was all very easy to do and the app walked you through the process very well. Once they are connected then you can go ahead and mount them wherever you would like. I have to say the mounting system is a little bit weird compared to other cameras I have used in the past and if the camera gets bumped in any way it can easily pop off the mounting bracket. This happened to me a couple times during the installation and the cameras fell on the floor. Luckily they seem to be pretty durable cameras and were unscathed after being dropped on the concrete from 4-5 feet in the air. So, just be aware of that. After I got them all mounted, I was able to check out the video quality and get the preferences set up in the app. I didn’t want to have to pay a monthly fee, and thankfully the sync module has a MicroSD card slot so you can pop in a card and have your videos stored locally. Both cameras are in a dark basement and I found the night vision to be very good and I was very easily able to see everything even with all the lights off. There is a setting in the app to change the intensity of the IR lights and I found that on the medium level it worked perfectly. Once I armed the cameras in the app I did a test of the motion detection and recording, and it was very easily able to pick up my motion when I walked in the room and started recording the clip. Going in the app to find the recorded clips and view them is also very simple and I found the video quality to be very good. I have it set to the highest video quality setting which I believe is 1080p (1920x1080). You can also have it set up to take a still picture every hour while the camera is on and armed. I have that setting turned on, but so far it has only taken 2 pictures while the cameras were on and armed for 2 days. So, that part of the app needs to be looked at and updated because its not working as advertised. Other than that little bug, I found the app to work perfectly. I will also note that the sync module does a great job of increasing the wifi signal allowing you to place the cameras pretty far away. On one of the cameras when I had it on without the module, I was barely getting 1 bar of signal showing for that camera in the app. When I connected it to the sync module, I got a full signal showing for that camera. Overall, I think this is a great set of cameras, with a pretty decent app and functions that you can customize. The mounting bracket could be improved and there are some things in the app that don’t quite work perfectly, but im sure those can be addressed with a firmware update.

Blink Outdoor 4 XR Cameras I’ve been a user of the Blink camera brand for a few years now.  I can definitely say they make a great wireless camera.  Sadly, the cameras I had been using for a few years expired.  The internal batteries no longer had any life to offer.  And so, it was time to replace them, which is how I arrived to the Blink Outdoor XR cameras. And let me say, I am not disappointed.  Set-Up: The initial setup of these cameras was easy for me since I already had a Blink account/app.  But if you’re a new user, then it’s still easy to download the app and set up an account.  There are no paper instructions included.  You need to go online to view the instructions on how to install the non-rechargeable batteries.  If you prefer, you can power the cameras with a USB-C cable. I was impressed with the customization when it came to creating a ‘Privacy Zone’.  Through your device, you can mark where you don’t want the camera to record, such as a backyard of a neighbor that may be in the view of the camera lens.  Or, if you have a camera set up in the house, and you want an area to be off limits, you can create a private zone.  There’s a plethora of features that you can explore depending on what you want to use the cameras for. Quality and Range: The picture quality from these cameras is clear and sharp, with 1080p resolution.  The night vision is also really sharp.  There isn’t an overt grey hue that obstructs the image that you are looking at.  When it comes to the range of the Sync Module XR, I was really impressed.  Blink says it there’s a 400ft range.  I decided to test the range and see how far I could walk until the camera wasn’t providing a feed.  I got a good distance down the block, which I estimated about the 400ft mark (give or take) before there wasn’t a live feed. So, whether you are using these cameras in the backyard, in a catio, or upstairs, you won’t have any issues losing the feed. Battery and Memory: There’s no charging the batteries for these Blink cameras.  You just install them and you are done.  Blink states that the battery life is two years.  Since I have experience with their cameras, I take their word for it.  And, even when those batteries eventually expire, you can still use the USB-C option that I mentioned above. When it comes to memory storage for or cameras, you can opt to use an SD card that fits into the Sync Module.  Or you can subscribe to the Blink Cloud service that offers unlimited Cloud recording and 60 days of cloud storage.  The choice is yours. These cameras are a solid investment.  Whether you are looking to have a vigilante eye on your property, keeping an eye on your cats or dogs while you’re away, or if you're gifting them to someone, the Blink Outdoor 4 cameras are easy to set up and require no maintenance.

Incredible outdoor camera with great image quality and features. Unboxing and setting up the cameras is SUPER easy. You will need to install batteries before you begin and then you can download the mobile app. The instructions are a little lacking on the initial set up. I was not prompted to install batteries or to remove the back cover before installation. I was looking all over the back for the QR code, then realized I had to remove the back cover first, and then I could see the QR code that I needed to scan as well as the battery compartment. Easy enough but I feel like this should be more prominent in the instructions. Honestly that is my only issue with the entire process. The rest was a breeze and I love the camera and all of its features. Blink claims I will get 2 years of battery life. SIGN ME UP if that is true. One thing I did not like about my last outdoor monitor (different brand) was they only lasted a few months then I had to climb up, remove the device to charge it then put it back up. Not an issue so far with Blink. You will set up the extender first, then you will connect each camera. As long as you do things in order you should be just fine. Once you have them set up then you can install the cameras anywhere you like. I specifically wanted them for my font entrance, I wanted to see when someone was at my door, or a package was left and I wanted to be able to see the driveway and street. So both of my cameras are in the front of my house. The person and car detention works flawlessly so far. I get instant notifications when motion is detected and it records clips (which you can set how long to record). I like being able to go back and re view clips and then delete them when no longer needed. Typically you can have the cameras 250’ away front he module but with the XR feature you can extend that up to 400’ . So far that is true and I still get good quality video. The app has many settings to fine tune your camera notifications and sensitivity. The app is easy to use and I like all the features. The installation brackets are easy to install and really allow you to position the camera at exactly the right viewing angle.

      Dear KennethR,

Thank you for your feedback about the Blink Outdoor 4 XR camera system. I apologize for any confusion regarding the storage options.

To clarify: While the cameras don't use SD cards directly, you can store recordings locally without a subscription by:

Using the included Sync Module XR
      Inserting a microSD card

      You have two storage options:

Local storage: Free using a compatible microSD card in the Sync Module
Cloud storage: Requires a subscription plan

I understand this wasn't clear during your purchase, and we appreciate you bringing this to our attention. If you'd like help setting up local storage or have other questions, please contact our support team at 1-888-280-4331 AmazonDevices

Solid Cameras To Complement My Existing Setup

I am using the Blink Outdoor 4 XR specifically to complement my existing camera system and cover two persistent blind spots on my property, and it's been exactly what I needed for this purpose. The extended range capability really delivers - I was able to position these cameras in areas where my previous setup couldn't maintain a reliable connection. The wireless nature made installation straightforward, and I didn't have to run any additional cables to these hard-to-reach locations. What really sold me on this system is the SD card support. I'm absolutely tired of every company pushing subscription services for basic features that should be standard. Being able to store footage locally on an SD card without monthly fees is refreshing and honestly should be the norm. It's my property, my camera, and my footage - I shouldn't have to pay a recurring fee to access it. The video quality is solid for a security camera, providing clear enough footage to identify people and activities around my property. Battery life has been reliable, and the weather resistance has held up well through various conditions. Setup was intuitive, and the app interface is clean and responsive. For anyone looking to expand their security coverage without getting locked into another subscription service, the Blink Outdoor 4 XR is a practical choice that actually respects your ownership of the device.
