Customers consistently note the excellent video quality and ease of use of the Smart Wifi Video Doorbell. Many also praise its straightforward installation and affordable price. However, some users express concerns regarding battery life and night vision capabilities. Additional feedback points to occasional issues with live view functionality and product reliability.

So far so good. Currently under a 30 day trial with Blink. It connects with Alexa(Amazon) account. For extra features(its included with the free trial), a subscription is recommended which comes out to $30/year(as of 2022) for one device. If you hard wire it, live recording watch is available. If you're only using battery, only motion/ringing the door will access it. Night mode is very pixelated at a distance of 10 ft & beyond. During the day, it has good resolution. Hope it helps for those interested.

I’ve been waiting for the Blink doorbell for years and what a huge disappointment. I can’t believe that they released this product with such a horrible design flaw. The back cover would not lock in place to the base before or after mounting. I should’ve been suspicious when the cover was not attached to the unit in the packaging. I would like to give this product zero stars for the time I wasted with setup and trying to mount. This includes the extra two holes that are now in my molding.

Blink is useless without having to pay for subscription plans.
They designed their system, giving you 30 days of recording so your device is no longer returnable.
You'll be greeted to purchase the sync module. Anyway to extract money out of customers.
The app clearly saved footage but holds you hostage unless you pay. See screenshot for reference.
Please save your money and spend it on something better.

I have 4 Blink security cameras on my home, and one indoor camera. I was very excited to get this doorbell addition to my Blink system. There's a lot to like here. The security cameras install in a flash, and this door bell is no exception. The fact that this can be installed with the provided lithium batteries, as well as wired to an existing doorbell chime, is awesome. Makes it able to be used no matter what your situation may be. I live in the Northern Midwest so the winters wreak havoc on outdoor batteries. I believe this doorbell will use the batteries as backup, not really sure about that. I installed with the wires so that my chime inside could be integrated. If you don't have chimes, but an Amazon smart device, the doorbell will connect to it easily so you can hear a ring inside. Comes with a mounting bracket, 2 screws to mount to doorframe, 2 wire nuts, 2 dowels for drywall, and 2 backup screws for the home wiring. Mounting bracket has a rubber seal around the outside diameter to help deter the elements. The screw holes are padded as well as the back for a nice install. There is a paper template for the 2 mounting holes to drill the pilot holes into the door frame.
Connects to the blink app with ease. Nice instructions on the app for installing.
Blink cameras, doorbell...etc, will only record when you've signed up for their subscription plan. That's my one complaint about the blink products. It's my understanding at one point blink was free of charge. You can record for free if you log in to the doorbell and go live. But only when you are live, with no subscription, can you record.
You are able to two-way talk with this doorbell. Picture on these is great quality compared to other doorbells on the market. The life of the lithium batteries is around a year or two, but is really dependent on the amount of usage, and your settings. You can tweak them in a lot of ways..ie, how long to record a video when it detects motion...longer the video obviously the quicker your batteries poop out. The parameters for the motion sensor are grid based, and can be set which comes in handy so that you will not pick up every car that drives by, insect or bird that flys by, or shadows as they move on the ground during the day cycle. Let's say there's a wall that no one could scale but is in the camera sights. Unless you live near Spiderman , you can tell the camera not to check for motion there.
If I left anything out I apologize, and hope this helps the decision to get a great Blink doorbell
Very much recommend..

With more and more homes beginning to take advantage of smart home technologies, video doorbells tend to be one of the most impactful options to add first. It allows you to make an informed decision to open your door to visitors, communicate or avoid solicitors, and even provide instructions for deliveries. You can also use a variety of features to monitor motion and protect packages sitting at your doorstep, acting as a deterrence against theft.
In the box you’ll find the video doorbell, a mount plate, two AA lithium batteries, a removal tool that looks like a SIM card style key on a paper mount template, power posts for wired installations, and some mount hardware screws. Setup requires the use of the free Blink App, a wireless router, and an active internet connection on the device being used for setup. The installation instructions also advise you to have a power drill, screwdriver, and some tape handy for use when mounting to your desired location. If you’re using an iPhone or Android device, you can use the camera to scan a small barcode on the back of the doorbell, or simply type in the serial number to add the device in the app. I did encounter a couple of odd hang ups when initially adding the doorbell but was easily resolved with a simple reset of the device and the app. Assuming you don’t encounter a similar app lock up, the setup will finish in just minutes. If you have an existing wired doorbell, you’ll use the included posts to attach the wire and install the device.
While this isn’t the only Amazon owned doorbell brand, the Blink Doorbell offers the flexibility of using their subscription-based cloud recording service or using a Sync Module to store them locally to a USB drive (both sold separately). The Doorbell included a 30-day trial to give the cloud recording a test run. While the Sync Module isn’t required for installation, there are some limitations, which you’ll likely find annoying without having one. In my quest to see the differences, I set up the doorbell without the Sync Module 2 first.
Without the Sync Module, you’ll be required to use the cloud service to store recordings, there won’t be any live viewing available on your Amazon Echo Show devices and are limited to a 60 second response to answer the doorbell via the app. If you don’t answer within the set time, your doorbell goes back into a sleep state waiting for the next doorbell press. These limitations exist to prolong the battery life over time by disabling the Wi-Fi connection until it’s actively engaged. You’ll also have to push the doorbell button to save any setting changes done in the app every time you hit save (with a 24-hour window to do so). Due to these limitations, I would highly recommend the Sync Module for anyone wanting to take advantage of motion detection, live viewing, or alert scheduling.
If you have an existing Sync Module 2, you’ll need to make sure it’s setup prior to adding the doorbell to your account. With the module setup, you’ll be able to enable a live viewing session in the Blink App or your Amazon Echo Show devices on demand. It’s important to note that the Blink Doorbell will only allow for one live viewing session at a time, so you’ll need to decide on answering via the app or your Echo Show at any given moment. Otherwise, you’ll get a connection or busy error when trying to view a live feed simultaneously on one of the devices. The Sync Module 2 has a USB slot for use with USB drives, up to 256 GB, to store recordings locally or save backups of your daily cloud-based recordings with the subscription service. You can decide to either store every live session or toggle a button in the app to save recordings at your discretion when viewing in the app. The USB drive makes it easy to remove the drive and plug into a PC/Mac and view or download the recordings at any time.
You also get the option of scheduling arming and disarming throughout the course of the week. This essentially allows you to turn on motion detection within the time windows you set and disarm alerts to during later times in the evening or overnight. I love the schedule feature, as I arm the doorbell during peak times during the day when deliveries are more likely to happen and keep the alerts quiet during the nights and weekends when visitors are less likely. You will need to enable and link your accounts in the Alexa App if you want Alexa Echo/Show to call out doorbell presses or motion alerts. If you install the doorbell without the Sync Module, Alexa will still announce, but won’t be able to answer. So, for the best experience, I’d highly recommend picking up the Sync Module 2 along with the doorbell.
The variety of features and their settings can be enabled or disabled in the app. The blink app will give you general health of the battery life, your Wi-Fi connection, and connection strength to your Sync Module. You can turn on detection zones using a simple to use grid, enable motion activated LED to illuminate the button when someone approaches, set the clip length, and even set the night vision IR intensity. Video quality was better than my last video doorbell, capturing recordings at 1080P, and you can even set the speaker volume to ensure the entire neighborhood isn’t hearing the doorbell ring. If you forgot how to install the device, it even includes the same doorbell installation instructions in the settings within the app. I rarely encountered false motion alerts, with every motion even captured and easily viewed in the app.
I found that live viewing was quick on my Echo Shows, and in the App, compared to another popular doorbell I replaced. The flexibility of the local recording was a feature I plan to take full advantage of, and the size of the doorbell was about 2/3 the size of the previous video doorbell I was using. This can use off the shelf AA lithium batteries, versus needing to purchase more expensive proprietary ones, and the longer battery life means fewer need to take the doorbell off the mount to replace them. The price point feels right, but you will need to invest in a decent storage size USB drive and a Sync Module 2 in order to take advantage of all the features available and on-demand live viewing without significantly impacting battery life. Removing the device from the mount does require the small key tool but can be removed with a smaller flat head screwdriver if you’re having issues gripping the small tool it comes with. Overall, after a week of use, I’m happy with the performance of the device, even if you do need to invest in an another accessory.

View, Talk, Communicate with Video Doorbell

The Blink Doorbell is a simple straight forward video doorbell. It can be installed as a wired doorbell or operate on two (2) AA Lithium Batteries, and it is designed to operate on batteries for up to two (2) years. The doorbell provides HD Live Views (day and night), a two-way audio and alerts via a chime on the app where one can then proceed to interact with the person at the door. When wired into an existing chime system, the chime will ring the system inside of your home and the video will still be viewable on your phone’s device.
The doorbell is extremely easy to install. The app that is provided for both android and iOS devices provide step-by-step instructions on either type of installation. I was able to pair the doorbell and install it in under a minute. Taking a view of the Q code next to the serial number on the inside of the doorbell or typing in the serial number is the first step of installation. Then, much like Alexa or any other product that can be controlled through the use of an app, the doorbell just needs to join with your network.
If wiring the doorbell, then the circuit breaker to the existing doorbell needs to be turned off and the old doorbell removed. The two doorbell wires connect to the back of the plate and then the plate is secured with two provided screws that come in the packaging. The doorbell face with batteries is then attached securely to the backing. In order to deter theft, there is a tool that needs to be used to take the face from the backing. It, too, is included in the packaging.
Blink offers an optional subscription plan that allows you to save and share your videos, or you can choose to save and share your photos and videos without a subscription plan by using the Sync Module 2 and a USB, both sold separately. The doorbell also works with Alexa, or you can turn this feature off, under settings on the app, if you prefer not to use it with Amazon Alexa.
This is a good alternative to more expensive video doorbells. I would give it five stars because it connected quickly, installed easily and the video works well; however, I did seem to have some static in the 2-way audio which keeps me from giving it five stars. Unfortunately, this could have been my phone’s service just as well as it could have been static in the doorbell. At the present I am not sure. I do recommend the doorbell as it is made to handle weather conditions and the video works well in both the day and night. The body of the video doorbell is made of plastic, and I am not sure how that will handle extreme heat and sub-zero temperatures that we have in my area. I have installed the doorbell and will be testing it to find out how well the casing holds up in extreme weather. Still, for $49 dollars, I think that it is a very good bargain if you are looking for a video doorbell in a lower price range and I recommend that you give it a try.

This is my first video doorbell and I’ve had it installed for almost a week now. Installation was really easy, it only took me about 5 minutes to install and set it up. It comes with 2 screws and accessories for mounting. The included screws went into my doorframe with just a screw driver and a little pressure. A drill would make it easier but was not necessary for me. Setting up the doorbell was very quick and easy with the Blink app. Log in with your Amazon account and you’re on your way. I ordered an Alexa echo dot the next day so that I could connect that also and use it as a chime / audio announcement for the doorbell. You’ll get notified instantly on your phone or tablet but if you’re like me and have your phone on silent 99% of the time, then an Alexa device is a must for audio notification in the house. Anywhooo, I really like the Blink doorbell. It has a really wide camera with very good image quality. It’s so wide, it actually covers and records my whole porch which is about 20 - 25 feet wide from end to end. I was surprised! The app will let you choose between doorbell only or doorbell and motion detection. I find the motion detection to be too sensitive at its default setting. For me at least, I live on a busy street and I got notified every 5 minutes of cars passing by. I’m going to tweak the settings and find one that works for me. If you’re in a quiet neighborhood then I think it’ll be perfect for you at default settings. Battery life so far is very good. I love that it uses AA batteries. Even with the motion detection on, the app says battery life is good after a week. Blink claims upto 2 years of battery with the sync module. But even if I have to switch out the batteries after a month of use, I can’t complain. AA batteries are cheap and the peace of mind that I get owning this doorbell is priceless. It also has night vision! That is very clear for its price point. Blink offers a monthly subscription for your doorbell which starts at $3 a month. Very affordable! Would I recommend this? Absolutely. It’s so affordable, easy to use and has excellent image quality. You’ll be instantly notified through your phone and you can talk to the person via two way radio while they wait for you. Or you can give your delivery driver instructions with it while you’re away from home. It’s great. Get it, you’ll love it.

Blink Video SMART Doorbell from Amazon is the most affordable doorbell with all the bells and whistles. It has a 1080p camera which records video at 30fps with a 135-degree field of view horizontally and 80 degrees vertically.
What’s in the box: Blink Video Doorbell, 2 AA 1.5v Lithium batteries, 4 Screws, 1 Case Opening Tool.
Blink video doorbell measures 130 X 42 X 27 mm like other competitors and can be installed either wired or battery.
Installation is simple, just install the 2 AA batteries if going with wire free option, if not connect the low voltage doorbell wires and attach the base plate using the screws. Download the latest Blink app and create the account if this is the first camera you are installing it with Blink. Just add the camera and the app will walk through the process of install. If you do plan to install the sync module 2 with this for live view or for storing your videos locally, you will need to add it separately. I have purchased the sync2 module separately and not as package but will suggest adding module to get the full functionality of this doorbell.
There is no wireless chime option with this doorbell currently and need Amazon echo devices to get notifications when someone rings doorbell. You will get notification on your mobile from app but it would be great if they have optional wireless chime like ring devices to add if required.
Best pro is the local storage using sync module 2 and USB if you don’t want to use the paid subscriptions. If you need paid subscription, you need to sign up for blink basic plan for $3/month for single camera or blink plus for $10/month for unlimited cameras if you have other blink cameras in your ecosystem.
It does lack some features like vehicle, package detection for motion alerts but does offer some custom motion zones in app. Works only with Alexa devices and not with google assistant.
Overall, at $49 this is the most affordable doorbell that can be used both wired or battery operated. We installed it on the backdoor and blink claims the battery to last for 2 years if connected to sync module. Great picture quality, local storage, battery life, multiple install options sets this up for a good competition.

Without a doorbell already installed and going through the trouble of installing all that is needed, this can be a quick simple fix. Download the app, install batteries, follow directions and instant doorbell camera. However, if you want more features, like being able to view live stream any time or record motion/doorbell presses locally, you will need the Sync Module 2 and a USB thumbstick for storage. Otherwise you will have to have a subscription for cloud storage and will only get the option to view live on a motion detention or press.
It is simple to install. Just two batteries, two screws and snap on. The recommendation is 40-48 inches from the ground, but at arms length at 44 inches it wouldn’t see peoples heads. So, I would say 48-50 inches is better unless there is a full step up to your door.
Video quality isn’t bad for something that is just running on 2 x AA batteries. It is a little delayed in the video and audio, but most wireless cameras are. I haven’t had it long enough to see how long the included batteries last, but it’s not like I have 10 people a day ringing my doorbell.
I am a little disappointed that you can’t change the audio and the only internal source of sound is your phone or Amazon devices that you have connected to it. Even with the Sync Module there’s nothing unless you have something like the Amazon Echo. With that though, you can choose a more likely doorbell sound as Alexa tells you someone is at the door. Connecting to an Amazon account was pretty easy as well.
Overall, for an affordable simple doorbell it’s decent. The more features you want, the more you will need to buy and connect.
