I was told batteries would last 6 months if the doorbell was not wired and they lasted only 3 months before I had to replace them. The camera frequently goes offline and you have to pop the doorbell off in order to reset it. So in this regard, it is annoying to have to go through this to reset it, but the camera is useless when offline. And if you are not home to reset it, then it is not doing what it is intended to do. Spend the extra money to get a different brand.

I am sorry to hear about the experience you are having with the device and have some recommendations to try and help. For the offline issue, I recommend rebooting your Wi-Fi router. Unplug your Wi-Fi router for 30 seconds and plug it back in. Restarting your router can help when your Wi-Fi is slow or stops intermittently. Also, check the connection between your Wi-Fi router and your doorbell. You can do this by tapping the more icon at the bottom right of the doorbell's thumbnail image and selecting Device Settings, tapping General Settings, then locate Network and confirm the Connection to Wi-Fi is sufficient. For better motion detection, try these steps to adjust sensitivity: 1. Tap More (...) on your camera's thumbnail and select Device Settings.
2. Select Motion Settings.
3. On Motion Sensitivity, move the slider two or three increments to the right for a higher numeric setting. Tap Save to save this setting and walk out of the frame of view of this camera.
4. From the main screen of the Blink app, set your system to Armed to enable Motion Detection.
5. Test the camera sensitivity by introducing movement.
6. If the sensitivity is not successful, increase the slider more, save, and try again.

The biggest benefit for me is that has the option to store clips locally instead of through a subscription cloud service. Paid for the device which came with a free trial but didn't renew. Now, I have a 16gb thumb drive in it, which I emptied at 75% after about 5 months. It doesn't take up too much storage, but if you have more cameras it will fill up faster. Not sure how long they say the batteries last but for me they lasted about 4 months, but now I have it connected to my old doorbell wires so gets power from that. Biggest issue for me would be that it does take a bit for the camera to come up. To view live feed takes about 12 seconds and clips from usb take about the same to load.

The scanning will guide you step by step. Resolution is good and a very quick set up for someone who isn’t very tech savvy. Didn’t need a drill. Was okay to just use screw driver and have it set up side of the front door.

I decided to use them in our Pennsylvania home. These are very easy to set with the App and easy to install. No wires to install makes it very easy to put them where you want to. They are a great way to monitor your home.

It reaches from one end of my yard to the other. The doorbell function is great and the setup was simple. Well worth it. One important thing is, you must have the module as that is what gives it internet access. If you have other blink cameras, make sure to add the module to a camera you keep armed all the time, then add the doorbell to that. Works a lot easier that way.

Not worth the lower price tag

Despite the claim that it has extremely long battery life, mine died with regular use (if not less than regular) after 6 months. Just now they have died again and my cam is offline again. I have all of the settings on average and don’t get a ton of visitors or deliveries so there’s no reason for them to be dying so quickly. The app leaves a lot to be desired as well - I often get delayed notifications or none at all, and I’ll only notice there was a recorded movement when I check the app manually. When I do get notifications, it is pointless to click on it. The app takes forever to load the video or sometimes just ends in an error, so the whole point of being able to check who is at the door or talk to them is lost. I also have a blink mini for my back deck, which has all of the same issues. Video quality is great during the day, but night vision is awful. You can adjust the sensitivity but it’s still bad. Often I can’t even tell what type of critter came in my yard or why it went off. Finally, the feature for blocking out small areas of where your camera can see does NOT work. It goes off 20-25 times when I let my dogs outside despite the fact I blocked the entire floor of the deck and the bottom half of the door where you would be able to detect them. It’s annoying having to go in and manually clear out all of those videos every day.
