I installed my Blink wired floodlight camera a few days ago and I am of two minds with this device. Since I am generally a positive guy, I will start with a long list of pros before I get to what I see as one significant con. Installation was easy. Instructions were legible and simple to follow. The inclusion of an “S” hook to support your light while you wire it is a simple and nice addition. Everything is good on this front. Installing the app took 4 attempts before it would open. No idea what the problem was but I did the same thing each time and on the 4th attempt it worked. I played around with the app and I was impressed. Fairly easy to navigate thru the menus and change various settings. The camera is solid. My video clips, whether recorded day or night looked good. The camera picks up a fairly wide angle. The motion detector worked well. And now we go to the one very annoying con with this device. When I was setting it up I signed up for a 30day free trial subscription. With this subscription, everything works. I thought this was primarily for cloud storage of clips. I didn’t want to maintain a subscription so I cancelled it. Without the $3 per month fee most of the features are disabled. Probably most frustratingly, not even the light will work with the motion detector. I will get an alert that there is motion, but I can’t get the light to come on without turning it on manually. You also can’t record anything (without the subscription) without buying additional hardware. So without a monthly fee this device, as far as I can tell, will only do the following things. Alert you to movement allow you to manually turn on a light, siren or speaker, and watch the video with audio but not record anything. So at the end of the day, would I recommend this to a friend? It simply comes down to whether or not you are willing to pay a monthly fee. If yes, this is a solid device that is easy to install and has all the features I would expect. If no, it’s a largely useless manually controlled camera and light that will allow you to take a peek anytime as to what is happening, but not much else. With a sub it’s 5*s, without it’s 1*, so I compromised and rated it 3*s. If you are fine with the fee I would recommend this to a friend, if not, there are much more useful options out there.

In order to see the camera, you have to login with your Amazon account. You can’t share the link with anyone else. They must be logged into your Amazon account. Doesn’t even notify/alert when people go out or come in. The lights are alright, but doesn’t detect the motions if not up close.

I havent had a chance to install it. I wasnt aware that i had to hardwire it so i am unable to do that at my residence because i rent

The sensitivity is not consistant. I did not like the unexpected need for a subscription.

Sometimes it picks up motion sometimes it doesn’t. I’m hate the 3sec till it starts recording.

I have to say, the Blink camera system works great, I added another 2 after getting this putdoor wired spot light setup. I had an issue at first with the camers and reached out to Blink support and after a few calls and some emails, we found that my internet was not powerful enough to get recordings to be decent quality. So, I bought the Blink local storage sync module and added a 500gb memory stick. BOOM, we finally have great 1080P recordings to look back on and actually see who is around our home when we are not. I used this to also light up the dog area at night, the lights are super bright and highly adjustable. From the start of the past 8 days of actual use and testing once we got the storage module, i have added 2 more Blink outdoor cameras and I have to say, they work flawlessly as a whole systtem and NO monthly fees with the local storage, ever! Back to the camera, the quality is great for 1080, night time is ok, even with the lights, you can still get most of the picture, just can get weird glares off items around the yard washing out some of the picture. Mounting if the camera was easy, we already had a light installed so it was a quick swap out and I removed the switch that light was on givong it 24/7 power everything was included for install into an existing wall or overhang mount, very nice touch Blink. I plan on adding more local modules and cameras as the wallet will allow, I used to be an Arlo guy, not anymore, these Blink camera do a great job for much less than Arlo.

Never worked right. Camera would disconnect from internet. No body could tell me why this was happening. Had one replaced Same issue wit camera Returned to store.

Good camera that fulfills its purpose of providing security and lighting. Installation was relatively simple, there's a video you can watch that goes into detail with how to install it. Everything you need to install the camera outside on your wall is included even a screwdriver. However if you watch the video, it recommends using a sealant, which is something that requires a separate purchase. I do recommend using one so you can eliminate the gaps between the ball and the camera to weather seal it and prevent bugs from going through. The lights are bright and you can set it to be motion activated or turn it on manually through the app. I do wish it uses standard light bulbs that can be easily replaced since if a light goes bad, it seems like you might need to replace the entire unit. Set up on the app is straightforward though if you're using a Pixel phone, make sure adaptive connectivity is off. If it's on, you're going to have connection issues with the Ring's WiFi during initial setup. One thing I don't like about the camera is that if you don't have a subscription, it will flood your phones with alert notification for every motion it captures. Only with a subscription will you have the option of only receiving notifications for people detection and nothing else. That's a big enough annoyance to drop a star off of its rating.

The camera on here never worked and it was to much to put together

This product is not working properly and very often goes offline .sync module 2 totally waste and disconnecting very often from Wi-Fi . I don’t recommend this product to any one

No wonder it was so cheap! It constantly goes offline, so I must keep reconnecting it to my wifi. Also, the distance on the video isn't good compared to other cameras.

Does not consistently work. Plus terrible buying experience.

This was terrible, my sister came to my house went inside and left and the camera never registered someone at my house.

They lag and and disconnect i will be replacing them soon

Wired the blinks and still get notifications weekly that they are offline. Even wired they are horribly slow.

Too bad, after one month, have to pay $100 a year, otherwise no record, and the image is very blurry

I got the Blink - Outdoor Wired 1080p Security Camera with Floodlight and couldn’t wait to install it. Finally had some warmer weather after the arctic freeze in the Northeast, so I was able to perform the installation. It was actually pretty easy to do by replacing an existing flood light. The only minor drawback in my case is this flood light is on a switch, so I have to make sure everyone in the house knows not to turn it off which would render the whole setup, including the camera useless. Once the unit is wired you start with downloading and installing the Blink App on your phone that requires you to create an account, and follow the instructions in the App to add the camera to your Wi-Fi network. Image quality is pretty crisp during the day and decent during the night, though it certainly gets better once the floodlight kicks in and lights up the surroundings. The intensity of the light is adjustable thru the App from 1-10, so I picked 5 which is plenty bright - Warning - do not look directly at the flood light or any bright LED lights for that matter, you could damage your vision. So yes, this thing is very bright, so make sure you adjust the angle position as well. The camera has 2-way audio built-in but the volume is kind of low which is to be expected from such a small unit. I don’t think I’ll be using this feature much as I rarely have anyone come up to the garage door to enter the house, the front door is 20 ft away and has its own camera doorbell. Motion detection is decent as well, though sometimes it’s too sensitive when windy. Unfortunately this Blink camera does not have an SD-card slot, though you can purchase an accessory, the Blink Sync Module 2 and Flash Drive for local video recording, otherwise you’ll have to pay $3/mo or $10/mo for Amazon cloud storage. Other low budget cameras such as Wyze v3 come with a micro-SD slot for local recording. Overall, this is a decent setup for a reasonably low price and the flood lights are great, but the camera is just OK IMHO.

The Blink outdoor wired 1080p security camera with floodlight came to me neatly and securely packaged, and included everything needed for a quick and easy installation. I wanted to mount this camera under the eave on the horizontal soffit where a previous floodlight was located. Past attempts were unsuccessful because other manufacturers didn't design their cameras with this option in mind. It is sort of mind blowing since a large percentage of homes in my area have flood lights mounted in this location, and these devices seem to primarily target the DIY retrofit market. Installation was super easy and straight forward. Simply power off the circuit for safety, I prefer to use the circuit breaker so that no one can kill me by flipping the switch as they walk past, and remove the old light. Next, attach the bracket for the Blink light/camera and hang the light assembly from the bracket using the included S-hook, and connect the wires color to color just like the old light. Finally, remove the S-hook and install the light/camera using the single center fastener, align as you like, and tighten it securely so that it doesn't rotate. Installation complete! Setup with the Bling App was just as easy. Just download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, follow the instructions to setup your account, locate the device, and follow the instructions within the app. The light quickly connects to the network and control becomes available via the app. The Blink device also easily integrates with Amazon's Alexa service using the Blink Skill. Then, if you have an Echo Show, you can say something like, "Alexa, show the driveway", and in a few seconds the camera view of the driveway will appear on screen. This is a great product. It seems to be well-made, is intelligently designed to work in most locations, provides great video quality, and easily integrates with smart home devices.
