This game is great if you are into the Souls series (ie Demon's Souls, Dark Souls). In my opinion, Bloodborne is better than those. I love the Gothic setting, the combat, and most of the enemies. Unlike the Souls games where you feel like you're constantly on the defense and intimidated by every single enemy, I find Bloodborne encourages you to be more aggressive and offensive. This also gives me more motivation to explore and loot, whereas in Souls I would grind the same spot over and over just to get good enough to beat the boss and move on. Since people classify Bloodborne as an unofficial Souls game, I can hands down say this is the best in the series, better than Dark Souls 3 even, which came out about a year after. Even if you're not a big Souls fan, I still recommend this game as it is more combat-heavy and closer to a hack-and-slash, in my opinion. Great game!

This game is incredible! Ive played the dark souls game so i knew what i was getting myself into and this game is on its own pedestal. great story, awesome fighting mechanics, and various ways to go about this game makes it an instant classic. This is why the ps4 was made for.

Game is good. But not a system seller for sure. You will die a lot in this game. And that is perfectly fine. However the majority of people will not appreciate this kind of game with the standard difficulty. Another downfall are the long load times between deaths. Most casuals will purchase this and then sell it when something else comes out.

This game is absolutely terrific. Beware though, its tough, and if you don't like to fail in games, it may not be for you. The game doesn't hold your hand. But if you are willing to explore and grind it out, this game may very well be the best game on this console generation.

That about sums it up. It definitely feels more like Demon's Souls than Dark Souls 1/2. If none of this sounds familiar to you, don't worry, you can jump right in and get into this. I highly recommend the game if you're a fan of old school game design, challenging gameplay, learning how levels are laid out and what enemies can do. There is no running in to attack everything in sight. Combat is however faster in this game than it ever has been, less like an old Souls game. There is no shield to hide behind anymore, either, but you are always high mobility with a gun to parry. It's beautiful and atmospheric, and at the same time creepy and myserious. This game is art. It's also good for you, because most new games otherwise are just all show, gaudy FMV and QTEs. This game tests you, and upon passing, you feel as though you actually accomplished something. How's that for different in our time of mobile, instant gratification gaming?

Bought this for a visiting college student. They loved the game! Great gameplay, smooth graphics, relatively intuitive, interesting weapons, and available DLC(s) from the PS store.

This is the hardest game I've ever played. As far as gameplay, there's a lot of variety to enemies and tasks. However, the story is cryptic and there's not much that makes sense. As far as a challenge, it's a 5 star but I give it 4 because its so frustrating that I can't seem to finish it and feels more like work than game.

If you like the "souls" series, you will enjoy this if you can get over a few issues. The graphics and sound are good but the load times can be long and there are some points where the frame rate can bog down. Hopefully these issues can be fixes in a patch, but overall a good game to hold over until more games are release.

This is a masterpiece of a game. The combat is incredible, being complex enough to string together combos and attacks yet simple enough that it never overwhelms or confuses the player. Every single weapon is viable and balanced, with unique move sets. The melee weapons can even transform into alternate versions to allow for more options and attacks at your disposal. You have a cane that can turn into a whip, a saw that transforms into a spear, even a sword that transforms into a hammer. The music is beautiful, boss themes are stirring and epic, and the tone is a wonderful decrepit gothic feel with a tinge of Lovecraft.

This is a really fun but hard game, not for the casual gamer. With each boss kill it makes you want to play the game even more because of the rewarding feel of finally doing everything right. If you don't mind a game that's challenging, then this is for you!

I've been a fan of the Dark Souls trilogy, and after finishing Dark Souls 3 on Xbox One, I wanted to go on another adventure. A while later, I bought a PS4 and decided to give Bloodborne a buy. It is just as fun as the Souls but a lot more difficult! A must buy for anyone looking for a challenge.

This game is just amazing. The graphics are outstanding. The game play is smooth and enjoyable. The loading times are bearable with the latest patch. The game is tough in the beginning and you do die a lot, but once you get a feel for it, it is so much fun.

This game is incredible. Actually has an understanding story somewhat and the gameplay is phenomenal. It’s actually difficult too. This one comes in a close second right behind the first dark souls. Much better than dark souls 2 n 3.

Easily the best game I've played in a long time. The gameplay and depth of the story is astonishing. The way it grabs you and pulls you deep into the game is wild. I spent over 50 hours playing this game aimlessly walking around figuring everything out.

If you are a souls fan you will enjoy this game... The tone is kind of more mature now and if you like that,it is a plus. The only bad thing is the loading times...30 seconds between deaths...they do feel long after playing for a while. Great game otherwise

Don't be scared by the difficulty of the Dark Souls series. This game is more forgiving faster paced and more enjoyable. The graphics and atmosphere are some of the best that I have seen all year.

Having friends who played the Dark Souls games, I was warned the creators of this game are known for not making it easy. Now I fully understand what they meant. While I'm absolutely loving this game, there have been many times I've had to resist the urge to throw my ps4 controller across the room in a full out rage! Just be warned, you'll die a lot. However what this does is make you a better player. Almost like being refined in the fire. After a few hours of playing (and dying over and over) I found myself actually doing very good. Dying less. Slaying beasts left and right and having fun. So don't give up right away. Keep on playing and soon you'll be an awesome hunter able to kill the largest of foes. Now as far as the rest of the game goes: graphics and art direction are fantastic! The world is a beautifully Gothic nightmare! Controls are easy and fighting is fun and brutal. Playing online is awesome and has features I've never seen before. Overall this is a great game. I highly recommend for someone who wants to put work into a game instead of just mindlessly playing something easy.

This game is much harder than I anticipated. A single enemy can kill you if caught off guard. The save checkpoints are very far and few between. This game can be frustrating on how much you have to repeat things if you die. The graphics are top notch but the game is probably not going to keep most people interested

One of the best challenging games on PS4 and PS5, worth for its price and gameplay. Highly recommend to those who seek challenging or difficult games for the PS4 and PS5.

Possibly the best game I have played as far as mechanics go. The visuals of gloomy doom Lovecraftian undertones is truly awe inspiring and fear invoking!! You will get very mad a lot but the rewards and progress in this game are worth it!!
