A Must Have for PS4
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bloodborne will go down as one of gaming's classics. Its a Soul's game at heart and probably one of From Software's best outings to date. A true must have for any PS4 owner, especially those looking for a challenge.

This game will destroy your will to live
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This was the first game I bought when I got my PS4 pro. I was looking for a challenge and heard good things. I have never played dark souls before, and seem to see that referenced in a lot of reviews so I just took a gamble, and won the jackpot. This game has a uniqueness to it that will leave me remembering it for years. Its story is way off the wall but intriguing and engaging, it makes you want to delve further only to find yourself so enraged that you could put a hole in the wall with your controller. If you are patient enough to figure the game out on your own for the first section, the rest will suck you in. Definitely for an experienced gamers, but this is probably my 2nd JPRG ever and it's definitely a masterpiece.

Opiate of the masses....
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The beast appears, though you didn't expect it. You've never seen anything like this creature, a giant komondor dog with horns--and a former vicar of the church, apparently, evangelizing her faith by holding her paws together in prayer, then slamming them onto the ground and knocking you clear. The vicar is a microcosm of Bloodborne itself, a wondrous monstrosity that attacks you with vicious horror and religious overtones until you submit to it. Even should you rise above its terrors, Bloodborne answers to no master. Instead, you come to an agreement with it: You allow it to invade your brain and demand your concentration, and it allows you to wake from inevitable death, reminding you with each resurrection that life is a gift.

Best Game on PS4
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the first time I paid full price for a game, and totally worth it. If you are a Dark Soul fan, you can't miss this game. It's a lot like Dark Soul, but improved in every way. But it is hard, really hard. Grab this!

Great!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great game especially if you love the souls games. A little less variety in items but overall great. Might be a little harder than the previous souls games but doable. The one main issue they are working on is long load times.

Those who dare will be rewarded
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is hard, intentionally so. It is difficult so that when you finally succeed you will feel very rewarded. It isn't cheap, just flat out difficult. It has a great dark atmosphere. The game play is smooth and quick.

Get ready to die again.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game and it's fellows are one of a kind. Not just for the graphics and the story but every little detail they add in and let you feel your own fate. Only words of wisdom I can offer are have friends and take your time.

Great game, but be warned.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Amazing game. The combat takes patience and skil. Beware though, this game will kick your butt to the point where you want to throw the controller through the screen. You have to take this game in small chunks.

Looks great, but pretty unforgiving.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second time to buy this game. It looks great and I want to get into it, but it doesn't do a good job of teaching you what to do and its difficult like games used to be back on NES. No more hand holding. If you are into that then give it a try.

Great Challenge
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just like the Souls games, Bloodborne is tough. This game doesn't hold you hand. They throw you to the wolves (litterally) and you have to fend for yourself. If your looking for a proper challenge this is a great pick up.

Bloodborne is Bloody Good
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bloodborne is a difficult game. But let me be specific, its difficult but not unfair. If you should die it's because you did something wrong. Unlike many new games it does not hold your hand nor always show you the direct path to progress. That's because the game wants you to explore and take your time. There are multiple (4+) areas and bosses that are completely optional. To progress the story alone is to cheat yourself of all the amazing extra content. With the addition of Chalice Dungeons this game allows for hours non-story related extra's (outside the previously mentioned extras) with a progression all their own. If you want a quality title with ton's of (good) optional content, an intriguing story that will challenge you, Bloodborne is the game for you.

Real System Seller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been keeping up with the PS4 since it's launch and finally have one for about a month now. Since launch, this is the first game that I believe to be a true system seller. The combat is fast and responsive and the difficulty alongside the bloodshard system creates an arcade-like addictive feeling. This is a game that truly sets the PS4 apart, just as Halo does for MS. Overall, if you are worried about the difficulty, don't be. I never played any Dark Souls or Demon Souls but I was still able to play just fine. Keep in mind the beginning will be frustrating and you will make no progress for hours as you learn, but the difficulty arises from a genuine challenge, not cheap mechanics. There's also co-op for bosses if you really just can't get past one.

Great game, both for "Souls" players and newcomers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Don't let the title fool you, This is the newest installment in the "Souls" series, by From Software. Similar mechanics and overall gameplay, just everything's been replaced with blood. "Souls" are now "Blood echos", "Estus Flasks" are now "Blood Vials", and everyone is talking about blood, and... Well, you get the message. But they've switched things up enough that it doesn't feel same-old-ish at all. It's familiar, but different enough that you go in and have to relearn a lot of new things. Specifically, the combat. There are fewer weapons here than in previous "souls" games, but every weapon has two functions. A saw that turns into a spear, an axe that turns into a halberd, a sword that turns into a hammer (no, seriously) and so on. There are a multitude of combos and attack patterns for each weapon, and figuring out your favorite and learning its every poke and slice is a pleasure. There are also no shields in this game, so no hiding behind a solid sheet of metal, either. Instead, you have guns, which shoot bullets, which are like shields just traveling at extreme velocities. Timed right your gunshot can "parry" an opponent's attack, leaving them open to a devastating counterattack. Even if you miss the timing, more often then not your shot will still stun the enemy for a bit of time, so it'll prevent you from taking a hit. The downside is, ammo is limited, so don't think you can get too carried away. There's also dodging, which makes you invulnerable for a short period of time. Overall, the combat is much more fast-paced and frantic than other "Souls" games, and I love it all the more. The aesthetic and world are also swapped up. No more castles and dragons and knights in armor. You're in essentially a werewolf infested Lovecraftian nightmare, with disturbing creatures and cryptic lore around every corner. The feeling is one of dark, brooding horror, dripping with blood and slime. As a fan of Lovecraftian horror this is a huge plus for me, and I find the world disturbingly inciting. But, it may also be a bit too much for some people who don't like that style. Oh, and while we're on the topic, this isn't so much an action adventure game, as a horror game that killed an action adventure game and is wearing its skin. I have felt more legitimate fear and tension in this game than I've felt in a while. Dark Souls and Dark Souls II had some scary moments, but this game, it's scary most of the time and it can be outright TERRIFYING. That's another plus for me. Now, what I didn't like so much. The boss battles. Their visuals are designed wonderfully, but A. they're not very hard for the most part and B. You start to develop a pattern of how to kill them, that works on almost all of them. There are 4 bosses in the game that I really had a hard time with, the rest (there are a lot more) I killed on my first ~ third try. And no, I wasn't extensively level grinding or looking at walkthroughs. Granted the road TO the boss was harrowing and very difficult a lot of the time, but I would have preferred the bosses having a bit more of a challenge. I have completed both Dark Souls and Dark Souls II so I probably do have more practice than new players, but even so. Killing a Souls game boss on the first attempt is, to me, a bit of a letdown. Some bosses have gimmicks instead of brutal attacks, but those tend to be easy to figure out too. This is the only real gripe I have, but it is something that bothered me to the end of my first playthrough. Oh, and PvP is, well, PvP of a souls game. You can ask for help, go to help, or go to invade. Pretty straight forward. Fighting itself is again a lot more frantic and fast-paced, but the overall system is basically the same as previous "Souls" games. Anyway, I griped a bit but overall this game is a blast. I've started New Game + now, and I fully plan on playing through to the end again. Definitely highly recommended, and it's worth getting the PS4 for this (that's what I did, anyway).

Great game, not for everyone!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The setting, atmosphere, graphics, sound, and controls are excellent. This PS4 exclusive is a must own, but is very difficult. Honestly, only hardcore gamers stand a chance, but it's definitely a great game.

Difficult, but so rewarding
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's a really hard game at first, but once you get the hang of it, it really becomes such a blast to play. Don't be shy about using the guns to parry, it's really risky but the payoff is awesome.

Unforgiving but a lot of fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Plays like Demons Souls and the Dark Souls series but rewards being more aggressive than it's predecessors. Great, but HARD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you were a fan of the other Souls games this one will not disappoint either. I am only about a third of the way through the game but loving it! Not as many choices with weapons and equipment, and I kind of wish there were more, but the weapons you get are all very good and depending on how you play there is one that will suit you best. If you are new to the series I might suggest getting one of the other Souls games first (Dark Souls was my favorite) because when I say this game is hard you probably just think I stink at gaming and you will breeze through it. Think again. I went through 2 controllers and a few wall parches before I beat the last one and I am not alone on the destruction/frustration these games cause.

Excellent Game
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This game is a ton of fun if you like adventure/hack n slash types of games. The game is a bit faster paced than the other "Souls" games from From Software. The game, in my opinion, is just the right amount of frustrating. It is hard enough to present a decent, consistent challenge that forces the player to get better at the game without being so difficult that a player just wants to give up for good. The game is very deep and is easy to pour hours into to obtain all weapons and pieces of armor. Or someone could blaze through, like I am doing, with one weapon wanting to see what the game has in store. This game is a definite must have if you have a PS4. Take advantage of the exclusivity!!
