    Horrid

I had done loads of research for a microphone. I had come to the conclusion that the Yeti is the best microphone for the price. So I walk into the store and pick it up like normal. I go home and plug it in, my computer recognizes it but I can't seem to get it to pick up any audio. I had read the entire manual front to back before I even unboxed from online. Then I plug it in to my other computers and it still doesn't work (yes I know it comes muted out of the box). Then I install the drivers and it picks up the audio, but I listen to it and it is super TERRIBLE. It had so much white noise and it made everything sound distorted. Maybe I just got a defunct one. I think it has something to do with windows 10. Also it was super heavy! You should save your money by getting a Samson Meteor, much more reliable, has better audio quality and the best part at least half the size of the yeti.

    Cable Breaks Easily

    Posted .

I have returned this item 3 times in 1 year. Just in th 1st 2 months, i had to use the BestBuy Warranty i keep purchasing. If I dont buy the warranty, I'd have to send the item back to the company. Eventually if the cable doesn't break, you lose connection and eventually your PC will not recognize anymore. I purchased for my son and he is always careful since it seems to mess up frequently. Great when it works but lasts less than a year. That's not worth it. 2 stars dye to it being an excellent mic when you first purchase.

Hello Jeff, Very sorry to hear about the issues you and your son are having with the cable breaking on your Blue Yeti microphone. If you're plugging and unplugging the microphone or if it's being pulled or moved while plugged in, that could cause integrity issues around the USB connection---loosening it due to the stress. I suggest trying to anchor the slack so that connection is stabilized. Some simple ways is to wind some slack around the mic stand or use a velcro strap or zip tie if you don't have enough slack. If the problem continues to be the problem, simply buy another USB-A to USB-mini cable. Hope that you found this helpful and that all is going better. Thank you for choosing Blue. - Richard from Blue/Logitech

Only problem is I have to already be recording before we plug in the microphone. Otherwise the sound won't work. Love the Blue Color!

    Didn't last...

I heard a great deal of hype about how great the Blue Yeti was so I decided to purchase one for my live streams. For the first few months it worked great. With that being said, there is a knob on the back of the mic that you use to adjust your mic patterns and mine was very difficult and scratchy when I tried to adjust it. One day I was adjusting the pattern and the mic died an never worked again. If I had a chance to purchase a different mic, I would probably still purchase the Yeti but hope that their quality controls were a little better on the next one. It truly was an excellent mic while it worked. I am considering purchasing another since my Yeti replacement mic is just not as clear.

Mine stopped working after 8 months and that was 8 months of it just sitting there and not even being moved. I have tried to get a hold of the company because they have 2 year warrenty but havent been able to get a message back. I will hold out a little longer but I have a completely different brand mic already picked out in case they just ignore my email and case.

    Poor quality

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Don’t buy this mic. The actual sound quality is good, but the designers decided to put the connection on the bottom meaning it’s constantly under strain. Within a year most users start having problems with it coming undone internally. Very frustrating design and not worth the $100 price tag

    USB Defect

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Blue Microphones Yeti USB Microphone - Silver has two awful design flaws--rendering it un-purchasable. -- Photo of the defect attached. 1. Because of the swivel-base, and the fact that the USB cable is at the base of the mic, means the USB cable will always be in tension, pulling at the connector. And, inadvertanly swiveling it too far, in one direction, also results in tension in the USB connection. 2. The USB Connector is very poorly connected to the internal board, which means that it is highly probable that any wayward tug on the USB cable will disconnect the pin-out connector from the board. 3. In my case, not only did the USB connector become detached, one of the pins-connectors on the board completely came off within the silver casing, and I was never able to find it, to attempt a repair. Without help from Blue Microphones, at 818-879-5200, I ended up tossing the mic in the garbage. Do not buy this mic. Perhaps some day they will at least remove the cross bar blocking travel of the USB cable -- until then do not buy this mic.

Mounting Hole Too Big for Mic Stand!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The mounting hole on the bottom of the silver Yeti I purchased in 2016 is slightly bigger than the 5/8 inch industry standard adapter screw that comes with a boom stand. I did not realize this until I recently decided to start podcasting and ordered a microphone stand that was supposed to be compatible with this Yeti. Through googling I have discovered this is a problem people are talking about on Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, etc. there is apparently no screw adapter that fits my defective Yeti. Based on what I have read about Blue’s customer service, I am not hopeful that they will make it right.

    Cheaply Made

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

As just a mic, it seems okay. Not exceptional, but does it's job. The details, however, are where it fails. The Gain and Volume knobs wiggle like they are about to come off in your hand, and the mute button works only about once every 5 presses. This would be bad enough, however, all three make a noice hitting the side of the mic housing, which can be heard in the recording. So, instead of mute, you get CLICK, CLICK, CLICK, then mute. Being unreliable to mute may be okay in a Twitch stream, but for doing voice over or anything of that nature, it can quickly kill a track. The Mic also has a weird issue where the provided USB cable will hit the provided stand if you attempt to angle the mic too far.

Bought yesterday. Worked with mac but does not work on my windows 10 laptop. Worse, it crashes any zoom/skype/etc communication. Website makes it pretty much impossible to contact support (you have to create an account first, but since you don't yet have an account it doesn't recognize you so you can't submit anything).

      Hi cellist,

Sorry to hear that you are unsatisfied with your Yeti. We are always looking for ways to improve our products, so we appreciate your review. What I can suggest in regard to the Windows 10 issue you're having is to check if the issue is with the microphone or the computer. If the mic is not being recognized, first try a different USB port, USB cable, and a different computer.
If the microphone works on a different computer, then the issue might be with the drivers on your current computer.

Follow this link to our FAQ (https://support.bluedesigns.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034512153-FAQs-Yeti). Under "My Blue USB mic is not being recognized on my computer (Windows PC)" you'll find a step by step process on troubleshooting this issue.

Terrible Directional Patterns- do not work

Terrible directional patterns, while testing, the mic picked up someone’s voice from downstairs on the opposite of the house, it was supposed to only pick things up directly in front of it. Damaged as well bottom was all scratched and had fingernail imprints. Static feedback from it as well.

Only lasted for 4 days until i started having issues. Any audio that comes though the microphone is drowned out by awful static and white noise while my people i talk to can only hear static. Nothing i have tried has been able to fix it and it is a problem on multiple computers and different headsets used. Will be returning for a refund. Not recommended.
